My cheap Husky compressor _requires_ a quick connect coupler, and I just invested in a 1/4 male threaded Goodyear air hose. This coupler connects them perfectly and the swivel relieves pressure on the hose if you're pulling on the hose.

In case you're wondering, the base of the quick connect stem is just a big ball bearing allowing a full range of motion. It's all ball bearings these days.

On a side note, I finally got some of that Gas/TFE yellow tape you wrap around the threads to keep air from leaking. I had been using the white tape intended for plumbing threads, but it didn't prevent AIR from leaking. Get some Gas/TFE yellow tape while you're at it.
