Wilmar W10005 5-Gallon Portable Air Tank

Wilmar W10005 5-Gallon Portable Air Tank
  • 125 maximum psi
  • Light-weight portable with handle for easy transport
  • On/off air adjustment dial
  • Industrial grade air hose with standard tire air chuck
  • Hi-viz color for added visibility

I bought this Wilmar 5 gallon tank even though the other reviewers complained about the hose. I intended to immediately remove it, anyway, and install a quick-disconnect, such as I have on my air compressor. I did so, and it works fine.

The tank didn't hold air (100psi)the first night I had it. The next morning I found that it had a loose valve core, which is just like the type one finds in auto tire valve stems.(This is the point at which one fills the tank with a tire-type air-filler attachment.) I had a valve core wrench, so didn't have to buy one, and tightened it. So much for the leak. Holds air fine, now.

So, I spent $30.16 for the tank (free shipping), installed a QD that I had on-hand, but maybe costs $5.00, and tightened the valve core (wrench costs maybe $1.50). $6.50 is still less than what shipping would have been.

So, not a bad investment for a set-up that works, and that I like and use.

(see my two photos above under "customer-provided photos." [words to that effect]).

Got one of these as gift..filled tank fine, but could not fill tire from it. Took it back to store (Tractor Supply)was on sale for ~$15.00. They were very nice about it, said they had problems with these. Tried 4 more and never got one to work satisfactorily. Don't want something NEW that I have to modify to get it to work.......MADE IN CHINA....

When I tried to fill the tank for the first time, it would not accept any air. I took the valve apart and was very surprised to see there was no hole for the air to enter the tank; it was a sealed piece of pipe with a schrader valve at one end. A friend with a drill press cut a hole for me so at least it now works. Since this was obviously a missed step in the machining process, it makes me wonder how many of these defective tanks are out there ...

I would not recommend this product to anyone.

The tank works like it should except for the pressure gauge. It sticks constantly. I expected more even though it was not expensive.
