I chose this model over other equivalent models like the Rolair JC10 (lower output), Rolair 3.6 CFM model (a little too loud), the Craftsman (leaky), Senco (I read they are financially in trouble), Dewalt or Porter Cable (not efficient enough), or the Makita MAC700 (too heavy). This model has the right balance between noise, output, and weight. I have confirmed this after using the unit for about 3 months now. Let me go to the weakness of this unit.
First, it was advertised as "new" model. Well, I don't know about that because the unit I received was manufactured in 2008 so it does not have the gauges pointing up just like the newer and more popular Rolair 3.6 CFM model.
Second, is the packing. With such a heavy unit, it came in singled boxed without padding. As a result, the oil cover cracked and oil spilled all over the box. On the bright side though, I brought this up to the attention of the seller (Acme Tools) and they shipped a replacement oil cover quickly. Excellent service by Brian of Acme Tools! One downside is I ended up buying compressor oil at nearby Sears. This is still better than shipping the whole unit back. There was also a small crack at the motor cover plastic but it is small enough (about 1 inch) and is only a cosmetic flaw. Packing could have been better.
Overall, this is a very good unit. Quiet and efficient. I urge anyone to seriously consider this unit if you are looking for around the same output. Just make sure to request for double packing to avoid the same hassle I experienced.
