First off, California Air has good customer service. My order arrived from the vendor damaged, obviously beaten up during shipping. It was leaking air. The paper work in the box indicated if there were any problems to contact California Air directly first. So I did. They emailed me a UPS label which I printed out. I shipped the compressor off to them and they repaired it and shipped it back. And they shipped it back double boxed to help protect it during shipping. It took about as long as if I had returned it to the vendor for an exchange, so I definitely could not complain. So 5 stars for the manufacturer's customer service. As for the compressor, 5 stars also. Your neighbors definitely will not hear it and someone in the next room probably won't either (The Mrs. can hear a sparrow fart from 30 yards and this compressor has not bothered her so far). It is not as quiet as the silent compressors marketed for airbrushing but it is pretty quiet. Sit it on carpet or a towel rather than hard floors and it becomes even more quiet. The only loud thing about it is the auto shut off when the tank fills to capacity. The auto shut off releases a rather loud hiss of air, which to my amusement, scares the daylights out of my nosy cat. And as for functionality, it is comparable (if not better) to the super silent ones for airbrushing. And at one third the cost of the silent airbrush compressors, you can't beat it. So, so far, I am happy with it.

This is the second air compressor I've purchased for our airbrush makeup business. I have had several Silent Compressors and this does the job for less than half the price. The first I purchased was used with up to eight airbrush guns, for 8-10 hours a day. Customers do not even know it is running when discussing the options, color, design ect...At peak times it has had to run with three brushes being used continuously for several hours and never overheated. Has been operated in extreme cold and into the high 80's. I highly recommend this compressor!
