This air pump is garbage. It should be sold in the kids toy section. First of all the PSI gauge was completely off. Motor burnt out in the middle of pumping up my second bike tire using it only once. DO NOT BUY!! This is the biggest piece of crap I have ever seen.

I've had this thing for at least 7 years now! Still pumping well! I've had several occasions where my tires have had slow leaks... So, It's gotten a LOT of use. It's a little slow... takes about 5 min to pump a low car tire.... but for the price and size... it's good... and quite dependable.

Bought this for my husband for Christmas. Used it for the first time today and, first of all, the only instructions included was one small sheet of paper completely written in Chinese (not that you really need instructions but still). The thing started smoking and you could smell burning. It's not like it was operating in direct sun on a 90+ degree day it was in the garage in NE Ohio and the temp was in the teens. You'd think with the "Totes" name behind it, it couldn't be that bad but avoid at all costs.

I have this item which I purchased several years ago and stored it in the seat carrier in my auto. I did not know how to use it but a gentleman showed me and it worked find even after all the years of staying in the car through summer heat and winter freezing weather. It may take a little time to inflate an auto tire but it does the job effortlessly. For the price I believe it is good to have on hand. It's cute too!

I wish I had this when I was just doing a kitchen floor that had a lot of weird angles. This is a great little inexpensive way to measure the angles and get them cut correctly. I guess the pros must all have these, but I'm a weekend warrior with these projects, so sometimes I'm not aware of every tool out there.

I used this for laying out window sills. The angle of the corner of the wall window opening is never 90 degrees and usually varies widely from window to window (depending on quality of framing and drywall finishing). So each window sill ends up being a custom fit.

With this tool, I can establish the angle, lock it down, then transfer it over to the sill. Zip it out with a saber saw and finish (route edges, sand, stain, etc). Done!

This is the actual Dissicant material that would be used in a dissicator to absorb moisture from air. It starts out a dark blue color and changes to a pink color when it needs to be replaced or rejuvenated. Unlike some of the bag dissicants it doesn't seem to have a noticeable odor.

I use this in conjunction with my vacuum dissicator. If you have a refrigeration type vacuum pump you can quickly rejuvenate it by pulling a good vacuum on it for a few minutes until the pump stops blowing out moisture and the pressure goes a bit lower or until the dissicant turns a cobalt blue. The other option for rejuvenating Dissicant requires heat and is slower.

This is economical and seems to be good quality. I like the color change since it shows when you need to replace or rejuvenate it.

For the money these are ok. they are doing the job. my complaint would be the threads were very roughly cast. so much so that i had to run a pipe tap in them to attach the fittings fot the hose. Also had two of them leak. I was able to fix the leak for now. I probaly should have returned them but I already hard piped them to the wall and didnt want to pay 3x's more for different ones. I would say ok for home use not for a comercial setup.

The regulator works good, but the glass in the gage was broken, and the vent hole was corroded. It works perfectly in spite of the issues with the gage. I needed immediately and did not have the time or desire to send it back, so I kept it, with no regrets.

this is a nice hose, but if you think it wont kink after you put air pressure to it you are wrong. Nice and limp when there is no air in it but it gets stiff when you apply pressure to it. I hope it holds up because it sure swells up when you pressuresize it.

I was really happy with this hose when I first got it... Very light weight, doesn't tangle, and no memory... I've even liked the bright lime green color... Very easy to see so you don't trip over it... But after only its second use, the hose blew out (Something I've never seen before)... I had my compressor set at about 110 psi and was using a framing gun when I started hearing a hissing coming from somewhere on the hose... I traced it back and saw the hose had somehow blew out underneath its skin... I thought at first I may have punctured it with a nail or something... But that wasn't the case... It seemed as if the hose couldn't handle the 110 pressure and finally sprung a leak!! Don't know if I just got a bad apple (which if that's the case, I totally understand and will change my review)or if that's the quality of this product... A small part was missing from the handle so I emailed customer service at powermate and told them the part number that was missing. This 13 horse generator is easier to start than my 10 horse briggs 5000 watt unit and uses less gas. The price seems to fluctuate between $1,200 & $1,300, so wait it out if you're able (depending on your likelihood of a blackout). Obviously, after Hurricane Sandy, this and other power-related goods have been long sold out.

My house, along with most others in Northeast NJ, had a prolonged blackout during Hurricane Sandy from downed power lines across the state. While mine was "only" 2.5 days (some coworkers didn't have power for 2 weeks), I'd found that a blackout causes not only inconvenience, but a morbid sense of vulnerability. It doesn't matter if you have a shack or a mansion; you NEED a generator "just in case". It proved to be the case for me within 5 months of owning a home. Ideally, you'd have something like a 20KW Generac standby generator that runs on natural gas (like the typical stove-top) which is automatic and can power the entire house, but it is quite expensive ($10K range) and takes up a lot of outdoor space.

Instead, I have this high capacity gasoline generator with a garage 240V receptable and basement 2 transfer switches for my main & sub electrical panels (10 toggle switches total to manually flip between grid & generator power). Otherwise, you'd need to run a LONG 120V power extension cord (or upto 4 multiple) from the generator to a power strip for each of your appliances, while risking a cord overload fire hazard and leaving upstairs unpowered.

The "accessories" assembly probably took an hour, with most of the time spent looking for the correct size tools and bricks to prop up the generator for wheels, grounding, and handle assemblies. Do the assembly as soon as you receive the generator, since it may take longer than assumed, especially in the dark.

This gasoline generator is compact in comparison to a natural gas standby generator, but bigger than the typical cheap gasoline generator that you can lug in a car. You'd need more than 2 people to load this generator into an SUV or a truck (definitely won't fit in a sedan). Its 7,000W running / 8,750W peak capacity is probably overkill for most homes, but the large 8 gallon gasoline tank and efficient engine powered for roughly 15 hour stretches my large refrigerator (spoiled/no food = bad), Zoeller 1/2 HP sump pump (flooded basement = bad), Fios router (no WiFi = suicide), outlets for multiple laptops & smartphones, stovetop hood (as needed), kitchen lights, hot water boiler (hot water in fall/winter? Yes please), and master bed lights & TV/cable box (WTH's going on out there?). I didn't need to worry about each watt an item used AND had a long time between fill-ups. If you don't need the generator running non-stop at moderate load, you can easily go 24 hours on one 8-gallon fill-up.

WARNING: when you shut off the generator using its power switch, you may get a loud & bright backfire from the opposite side of where the power switch is (the other wide side). Aside from being scary, it's a fire hazard. Instead of using the power switch first, turn the fuel regulator valve to off (you would've turned the valve to on the during startup sequence per the chassis's stickererd directions), prior to switching off the generator.

With (this or another) generator, you should also purchase:

1. Quality power cable: I have a 20' 30-Amp 14-gauge 240V power cable ($64 in 7/2012, $100 in 11/2012) that connects to the relay switch adapter, but even if you don't have a 240V adapter, you'll want a quality 120V cable. Last thing you want during a storm & power outage is an electrical fire.

2. At least two 5-gallon No-Spill gasoline cans, even if you don't fill them (87 Octane gasoline; higher's fine, but a waste of $ for this generator). Gasoline cans were sold out days before the hurricane hit, and you'll want to stock up on gasoline to avoid crazy long lines, or at least BE able to get gasoline. My experienced neighbor has 6x 5-gallon cans; I have 4x 5-gallon & 2x 2.5-gallon cans. Of them, I have 2x 5-gallon Eagle cans, which are almost double the price of the plastic No-Spill 5-gallon cans, but the Eagles' shape/size/weight are impractical for short-term use (but great for long-term storage of gasoline).

3. Synthetic 10W-30 motor oil & FUNNEL: Generator comes with one quart, but you'll need to top off the oil after about 10 hours of runtime. Recommended change is after every 50, but many people recommend first change at 20 hours or so (assuming non-synthetic); color of used oil confirms the adage. Generator will automatically shut off if oil's low. Synthetic lasts much longer than traditional for very minimal premium.

4. Head Lamp: Like a miner's flashlight. You may look dorky, but having 2 free hands while setting up and filling gasoline/oil into the generator will prove essential. Besides, trying to hold a flashlight between your teeth looks much dorkier.

5. Sta-bil: Gasoline stabilizer for longterm storage (1 year). 8oz should be sufficient (1oz for 5 gallons of gasoline); Sta-bil itself is only good for about 2 years after opening.

6. Shaker tube: Transfers liquids between containers by shaking the tube. Pouring 8 gallons of gasoline into a generator takes a LONG time (at least 30 minutes?) and is VERY tiring. This tube (or the like) can instead quickly do all the work.

7. Cable Lock: I figured I didn't need one in a nice neighborhood, but after days of others' power loss and apparent desperation, I feared finding out my generator got stolen the hard way. Buy a 25' lock cable & 2 locks for peace of mind.

8. Storage cover: Just a decent elastic canvas-type cover should do to keep off dust, bugs, etc., assuming it's stored in a garage or a shed. You wouldn't want electrical or intake/exhaust ports clogged by dust or spiders at an inconvenient time.

My friends got berated by their wife for not being prepared for the power outages. Don't be one of them (Happy Wife = ...), especially if you have children. At least get a darn flashlight... (better yet, a Coleman LED Quad Lantern).

I have read the other reviews so I'll try not to repeat what has already been said, most of which I'm in agreement with. The assembly is pretty straight forward and the instructions on how to do this could be done better. My main gripe about this unit is the wheels. There is no straight shaft running the length of the unit and the wheels on mine tilt inward because (let's face it) with 8 gallons of gas, a generator, and Honda motor, this thing is very heavy. I'm quite certain I will be looking to re-engineer this problem after the wheels fall off, but until that time comes, I'll live with it.

For those of you who don't know this is not an "inverter" generator. Inverters are king of the hill when it comes to generators and they can cost you more than what you want to pay. Honda makes smaller inverters that run quieter because the engines can run variably to the amount of power needed through electronic control. The downside to inverters are their cost and repair cost if that would be needed. In the future I can see inverters being the norm for generators when they get cheaper.

I installed a transfer panel (Reliance) in my home to compliment my new generator. Some tips on transfer panels: make sure if you are thinking of running (and I don't know if this is a good idea for load balance issues) your central AC that you get a transfer panel that has a two pole 30 amp breaker or something similar to that. I didn't realize it at first but the transfer panel I bought didn't have enough 15 amp breakers for my use and too many 20 amp breakers that I didn't really need and NO 30amp breakers. In other words do your homework and check out what you have in your fuse panel to match the right transfer switch that you may need and you'll be OK.

I've been interested in that little bitty senco compressor for a while but when I was ready to buy I decided it was too small and chose this one instead. After shooting only maybe 30 brads with it I prepared to use it the third time and as I started firing staples the compressor kicked on and after a change in tone it would not build any pressure. Completely ruined the day, and to make things worse the location Senco told me to bring it for service did not exist, a building wasn't even at the location they had been out of business so long. After a frustrated phone call I drove another 45 minutes to the next closest service location and when dropping it off was told it could be a week or months to repair because ever since Senco filed Chapter 11 replacement parts where much harder to get....not what I wanted to hear. The only reason I gave it two starts is that I guess not many people will experience this same situation; except for a manufacturing defect it is a nice light unit for light duty work....but you've been warned.

I am on my second Senco PC1130. The first arrived with a smashed oil reservoir cover and oil all over everything. I'm still working on the return of that one. The second arrived fine. I live at high altitude and when I ran the compressor it would not shut off at full pressure. I got it to work by adjusting the pressure switch limits. However, my first job with it at a higher altitude had me making further adjustments to get it to shut off automatically. I've never had this problem with any of my other compressors and I can't see why this one should be sensitive to altitude? The compressor is about 20 pounds lighter than my "portable" Emglo and I am grateful for that. I've only used it with a trim gun and it seemed more than up to the task. This is medium loud and quieter that oil-less compressors that I have used. I have no regrets so far. This one was the second choice in a Tools of the Trade review (the first choice was about $500!). It is made in China.

If you don't mind about 60 pounds, the 15amp Dewalt (Emglo) is a great unit. I've had the original Emglo version for over ten years and going strong. I just wanted something a little easier to carry up stairs!

I bought one of these about a year and a half ago from CPO Outlets through Amazon. At the time there were a ton of good reviews of it here on Amazon, but they seem to have mostly disappeared for some reason?

Over the last year it has been a great little compressor for me. The only "issue" I had was that they shipped the thing full of compressor oil and the dipstick / fill plug is a friction fit with an o-ring which had popped part way out during transit. Everything inside the package was covered with compressor oil, but when I pushed the dipstick back in, the oil still came up to the "full" line, which I thought was a little weird. After I wiped the machine off and started it up, everything worked great.

It is a really well put together, compact, beefy little machine that pumps up quickly and is not so loud as to be overly annoying, ... seems much more tolerable than the oil-less compressor we use at work. I've mostly used it to fill tires, blow dust and crud off of stuff, blow out dehumidifier drain hoses, top off diaphram (well and hydronic) expansion tanks, fill portable air tanks, etc. I don't run a nail gun with it everyday professionally or anything like that, but it has been extremely reliable for me so far, is easy to move around, and takes up very little space in my shop. It is perfect for my needs, and looks and feels like it will last for many, many years.

The only "tip" I might add would be to use the oil that comes in it for "break in" and then replace it with a good lightweight synthetic compressor oil. I live in northern Vermont, up near the Canadian border, and the oil that comes in it is pretty thick and will keep the compressor from starting up properly when it is below about 40-50 degrees F (I suppose this would be good if you were roofing in Arizona, etc.) Replacing the original oil with Amsoil 30 wt. compressor oil (20 wt. in cooler weather) made a world of difference for me.

Some folks say you don't need any special "break in" but I've also read a bunch of places that an oil splash compressor neads to be "broken in" before regular use to seat the rings, etc., and that a good synthetic oil is actually not as good for break-in since it doesn't allow the necessary "wear" to take place. According to recommendations I've read, when I first got it, I opened up the drain valve on the bottom of the tank and ran the compressor for about 25 minutes straight out then closed the valve and let it fill and shut off normally. I then used it with the original oil for the next 6 months or so, and then replaced it with Amsoil 30 wt. compressor oil (20 wt. in winter).

This compressor is equipped with a pressure relief valve that bleeds off some of the pressure on startup that may sound like something is wrong at first for folks who have used a compressor without one of these for many years, but it kicks off as soon as the compressor warms up a bit and does help a lot with the cold start issue. Also, there is a little thermal cutoff that will shut it down to protect the motor if it is just too stiff. If you bring it indoors to warm up a bit, you'll just have to hit the little re-set button before giving it another try.

I do feel that the cold start issue (inherent with all oil splash compressors) is more than off-set by the added longevity, reliability, and better sound levels when compared to oil-less models. This compressor is nicely protected with the thermal cutoff and startup pressure relief valve, and changing to a better oil will pretty much elimintate the problem at temperatures above freezing.

I think it would probably be fine at somewhat below freezing too, but there is a warning on the compressor not to use it below freezing, which I'm sure is related to the potential damage from the water that is generated by the compression / expansion of air freezing inside the compressor when it is not running. This is an issue which would cause problems with an oil-less compressor as well, and may be fine if it is used continuously as with a nailing operation and stored indoors (heated) before and after use.

I remember when Senco tools used to be made here. They were the best tools on the market. I still own several that are 15 to 20 years old and working just fine. I'm a contractor and need tools that I can depend on. I will not buy Chinese tools . They are all crap. This compressor was advertised to give the impression that it was made here in the U.S.A . When I received it , the Made in China stamp was right in the front. I was dissapointed. O.k, I then placed it on the floor and it was wobbly. The feet brackets were welded on in such a fashion that the unit did not sit flat on the floor. Typical Chinese craftmanship. Then I turned it on. It was really loud . Much louder than my larger compressors. That is because it is not a true oil lubricated compressor. The advertisement makes you think that it is. However, it is an oil splash unit. I avoid these. No quieter than anything else on the market. However, it has worked flawlessly for various home projects that have included at least 800ft of moulding (floor and crown) and tacking a few 2x4s when building a shed. I used a Hitachi 18ga gun to fire 2inch nails completely flush and clean.

The noise level is somewhere around 5 to 7 Sones while compressing air. One of the better features of this compressor is the system with which the motor runs. If you keep your PSI high, the unit will store a good amount of air, and only have to run occasionally. Users who run lower PSI, such as scale hobbyists, will hear the motor more often.

My only complaints are fairly superficial: the suction-cup feet don't always hold the compressor down well enough, and the unit can rumble itself off your table if you let it. A swipe of alcohol on the cups and your desk will cure this problem. The much worse issue, though it likely won't effect any serious user, is the airbrush holster. After a short period of use, mine broke at the support base, becoming completely useless. This was easily solved by getting a dedicated airbrush holder. Still, users should never rely on the on-board holster.

I haven't used a lot of compressors, but of those i have, this is the finest.

I have had several compressors over the last 20 years, and of them all I really like this Grex one the most. It's a great, solid compressor, that works perfectly for me, but aside from the reliability, it has some nice little things that most other compressors just don't have.

-It's very quiet. My wife appreciates this. My last one sounded like a piece of construction equipment

-It only runs when you need it. This works great, and I always get the pressure I need, but it shuts down and holds the pressure in a waiting area until you need it, so it isn't running constantly like most compressors.

-It has a nice handle. This is more helpful than you'd think.

-It has a built in moisture trap, so I don't have to have yet another cable and yet another piece of equipment dangling off of my airbrush line when I'm trying to move around and paint.

-It has nice suction feet. These aren't perfect, but they're more than anything else seems to offer, and they don't scratch my nice hardwood floors.

All in all I'm extremely happy with this purchase, and I'd absolutely buy another if I had to.

I opened the box. Read the instructions. Plugged it in and switched on. It rev'd up and kept going until there was a pop. Now it just revs and no air pressure come out. Tried switching it on and off. Letting it cool down. ... No success. Utter junk.

I bought it from costco two days ago, and left for camping.

right after I pluged it to my quickbed, I had to wonder what is wrong with the machine. there was almost no air coming out. instruction tells that I need to block deflation to increase airflow, but sooner my thumb became tired.

I blocked the deflation with tape and let the machine work with making noise. I guess it took almost 20-30 minutes to inflate queen size air mattress.

It's box says high-flow... and shows mattress to tell that the machine can inflate mattress. YES! it can inflate! but it's a problem of time and noise.

one good thing is that the machine can push more air to higher pressure so that mattress become more firm. but took long long long time with loud noise.

it provides various adaptors. when I came back home, I tried it for my boy's airball. ( I did not use needle, but narrow adaptor to see how it buid up pressure because manual foot pumt( which almost look like a toy) can blow it up in the same way ( without needle)).it is very soft low pressure ball. however it was not able to push more air into it because 1. most air leaked from adaptor since they fit loose. 2. it didn't have enough air to build any pressure ( leaking air >= from machine :) )

I thought I might be doing something worng, and read instruction again, again. ( nothing much on manual). tried to see how it can blow dust.I bet 1.5V hand fan ( toy fan) can blow more air than this.

if you are trying to use it for tires that need just more air, this might work for you. ( when I blocked air from nozzle, I could feel air pressure ( pressure seems OK, QTY is problem to me ... and noise )

THis product is lightweight, well balanced, and has a soft rubber grip. There are a lot of finishing nail guns in the $20-50 range, after a lot of searching around I opted for this one. I have owned a few other brands some costing more and some less..generally after thousands of nails some problems would arise.. this is normal wear and tear and its easier to purchase a new and reliable gun over rebuilding the many seals and pistons in the gun.

My first option was to purchase a rebuilt Bostitch or similar high dollar gun I decided against that seeing how many of the guns took beatings under the abuse of contractors.

Next I ruled out Chicago because the body seemed flimsy and prone to leaks at the main valve seal.Previously owning a Central Pneumatic unit (which comes with a case for the same price) the only reason I didnt buy another is the saftey is bulky and prone to getting bent out of shape. The gun then doesnt fire as easily, and you have to make sure the tip is pressed AND the safety is satisfied.

This gun has good reviews all around, solid construction, and it shoots Brad nails upto 2" (all the way down to 1/2"). No case included and I would replace the air inlet adapter with quality one. Oil frequently.

No rubber foot on the contact point--the tool WILL leave a dent after the brad is driven. With the proper technique (it takes some practice), the mark can be minimized.

Male air coupling provided with the tool did not engage correctly with the female fitting on the air hose. The result was a slow leak that caused the air compressor to cycle frequently, even when the tool was not being used (quite annoying with an oil-free compressor in a small room). Use matching coupling components (i.e., same brand) to eliminate the problem.

The Northern Tool company is great in itself, transaction went through cleanly and quickly and the compressor was soon on its way to my home through freight shipping. Ordered a few other tools along with the compressor and those got to my house quickly and at an excellent price. But then when the nightmare began.

I received my air compressor sometime around mid june and broke the engine in as per manufacturer instructions. First day out on the job I ran it for about 10 minutes and it broke down! cost me 200 dollars in lost wages that day!

I called Ingersoll-Rand customer service. After waiting about 20 minutes to actually talk to someone they told me (in a quite rude manner) that I should take it to a specialized certified mechanic in town that fixes all of their products and that it wasnt a problem with the factory.

I took it to the mechanic they had referred me to only to find out they were not an Ingersoll-Rand service center! IR had revoked his certification because he wasnt meeting some kind of quota set by IR!

I called IR back to confirm the place and they told me not to go to the mechanic they had referred me to earlier, instead to go 150 miles south to a shop in Los Angeles! I, rather annoyed, reminded them that I was loosing money every day this machine was down and that I expected better service from them and better quality of product. Well they basicly told me I wasnt important and told me I had no choice but to take it down to Los Angeles or try to fix it myself.

Well I couldnt wait. I took the compressor apart and found out that some numbnut at the factory did not properly tighten the screws on the flywheels that connect the engine to the compressor pump. As a matter of fact it didnt even have the square key thats designed to hold the wheel in place! The wheel on the engine side had been stripped to the point where it was unusable.

Once again I called them to find out if the parts I could order to get this thing up and running again would be covered under warranty, and they told me since I took it apart it was no longer under warranty and that I was up the creek without a paddle.

50 dollars in parts later I had it up and running and I was making money again.

Since then the compressor has been excellent. It has not failed since I fixed it and it has a higher CFM per PSI than other compressors in its price range, and the Honda engine is one of the best and most reliable on the market right now. In all honesty I love this compressor but IRs customer service left a bad taste in my mouth.

Would I recommend this compressor? Yes, just make sure all the parts are tightened and in place becore you start it for the first time, especially the flywheels.

Am I happy with Ingersoll-Rand? Heck no. If push came to shove I will probably buy an Emglo or Dewalt compressor next time.

I did not buy this exact model, but I did by an ingersoll rand based on their name. The machine has had problems, that sometimes happens, the real problem is getting someone to fix the problems. The customer service at the distribution and repair center is terrible. I would never pay the extra money fr an ingersoll., you can get a better deal with other products and get customer service too.
