After using this hose with my framing gun for a few weeks the Campbell Hausfeld quick release valve I had bought broke and I had threaded it in with Teflon tape for a tight seal.

While trying to get the valve off, the hex nut on the hose stripped and I couldn't get a good grip on it again. I chalked it up to crappy brass and decided I'd go with another brand, Porter Cable.

Just got the Porter Cable delivered and as soon as I opened it the difference in quality was pretty clear. The Goodyear hose is thicker (more rubber around the chamber), more flexible, has nice anti bend sheaths at the ends and just feels like a quality product. In comparison I almost mistook the Porter Cable as the wrong size because it is so skinny, which tells me that the rubber is thin. The hose feels stiff, almost like a PVC, though it's clearly labeled as rubber and it stank to high heaven when I opened it.

The Porter Cable was $4 less than the Goodyear and looks to have the same fittings but already feels cheap in comparison.

Time will tell but to be safe I'm ordering another one of these with a better quality quick release.

So in short, I'd recommend the Goodyear hose, just be careful when attaching or removing valves. It's worth it to have a properly sized, quality crescent on hand but even then, easy does it. The metal is a bit soft and strips easy so it loses a star there. If you can get around that this is a really nice hose.

This is way better than your average hardware store retail hose.

Mine does not see heavy usage, I expect it to last a long time.

If mobility is a big consideration, this hose might be kind of heavy.

Well there is a phrase I would never have thought I would say. This is a nice quality air hose that is rated @ 300psi. I also purchased the 250psi version that has a little smaller outside diameter. The increased OD of the 300psi hose makes the hose a little more difficult to handle. By no means is this a deal breaker, but for light use I would recommend the 46504 or 46501.
