The lower prices here kind of made it a one stop shopping adventure at Amazon one that saved me some cash! As for the 1/2" GoodYear air hose, it is Goodyear's yellow premium hose, and you can expect it to outlive the GoodYear red hoses and all of those by cheaper manufacturers. Okay, it also offered me exactly what I needed in my garage at a lower price than my now 10 year old Red GoodYear hoses and the hose also came with quality brass 1/2" male hose ends that were well protected and undamaged. There's only one thing that bothers me, the hose looks so good I just have to wipe it clean to keep it from showing dirt, even though it is oil resistant and I then roll it back up every time I use it. It has me hooked on that pretty yellow color. This is the 1/2" Yellow higher quality 300 PSI certified working pressure hose you would expect from GoodYear. The Yellow just shows dirt the good, but lower quality, Red GoodYear hoses (rated 250 PSI working pressure) don't show as well.
Update 10/29/11:
The Goodyear 300 PSi hoses I purchased last year from Buzzard Gulch through Amazon have solid brass fittings, as were described at the time. I would have no use for a factory installed two-piece swivel fitting at the ends of my air lines considering I use industrial type quick connects. The solid one-piece OEM pipe thread fittings on my hoses are secured to the hoses with a thick high quality brass crimp connector. After a year of use on concrete, with a full-time 175 PSI heavy duty 7 1/2 HP Eaton air compressor, none of my hoses or hose fittings leak not even the Dixon Air Chief industrial quick connect fittings I also use with them. If there is anything annoying I can't stand, it's leaking air fittings. To date, I still have no leaks anywhere.
Here's some tips:
Use a swivel fitting snubber hose between your large air hoses and all tools, and don't overtighten fittings or twist the factory fittings inside the hose during installation (rotate the hose with the fitting) your large air hoses will last longer that way, and the swivel fitting snubber hoses often make tool use much easier. I found and purchased the 1/2" x 8' Legacy ZillaWhip here at Amazon to complement my 3/4 impact, and to make this new heavy Goodyear hose easy to work with. Using industrial type couplers will also provide better sealing at quick coupler fittings and allow for easier hose storage. Also, use soapy water to check all hoses and fittings as you install them. For much greater hose life, remove air pressure from any hose not in use. Most better compressors have an air valve installed specifically for this purpose. Most important protect your rubber hoses and tools from oil and particle contamination by using a coalescing filter. This will help insure longer life hose and tool life. Enjoy the best, and ignore the rest.

I bought two of these hoses when I switched my shop over to 1/2 inch ID air lines to run my sand blast cabinet. One was a 50 footer to use with air tools and the other was a 25 footer to use with the sandblast cabinet. My shop is 50x35 and I figured I could combine both hoses for a combined length of 75 feet if that became necessary. Then I decided to run a outside air line at each end of my shop so I could run my 3/4 inch impact or my pressure pot for my sandblaster to blast items too large for the cabinet,so I bought another 50 footer so I could bring the impact or the pressure pot close to the work.
These hoses are all very high quality items I would recommend to anyone. The only reservation is that because of their outside diameter and 300 psi pressure rating they are very thick and stiff. This is really good if you have had trouble with kinked 3/8th hardware store hoses cutting off your air because that problem doesn't exist with these hoses. This is not so good if you want to coil it tighthy on a smaller diameter hose reel. If a hose reel is important to your operation, you are going to have to buy one made for half inch ID air hoses. I have seen these reels with the hoses mounted as part of a package deal on Amazon,so if you need a reel, look for the combo purchase and save a few dollars. I just coil mine over a garden hose holder I screwed to the wall.
These are very good hoses that make me wish I had not wasted my money by ever buying any of the off-brand hardware/Chinese Tool Outlet hoses to start with. If your compressor pumps out enough CFM of air to use these hoses, don't waste your time or money buying anything else.I purchased four of these hoses and have used three of them thus far. The hose is excellent quality but the threaded couplers at the ends are two-piece brass and they all leak between the two brass parts. The product description says the ends are "solid brass" but in fact these couplers are two pieces that evidently weren't crimped together tightly enough during manufacture.
I would estimate close to a CFM average leakage per hose so unless you have a large air tank your compressor will be cycling frequently. I will be replacing my hose ends with the Senco style push on ends, which in my experience have never leaked.

This hose has already seen a lot of use down-hole for well digging, and it's held up very well. The fittings are tight and the hose itself is very strong. The one I purchased has 1/2" fittings, which ensures plentiful air supply to the well drill.
