We bought this air compressor to power a piece of equipment that we use at our candy company. First off, this was the cheapest and smallest model that we could find that would provide 5.1 CFM at 90 PSI; we chose it over others simply for that reason. When it got here though, you'd have thought we bought the top of the line model. It was packaged very well and came with all the accessories that you could need. Setup was very simple; we were using the compressor less than 45 minutes after we took it out of the box.

Purchased product in September (not from Amazon)and used it approx 4 times to blow off a radiator in a tractor, used just blowing compressed air onto hay/straw chaff, for less that 30 minutes each time. Also used to inflate four passenger truck tires. Unit quit working abruptly (seems electrical, would not start). Returned to store, they gave me a replacement I was happy. Used replacement to fill up another four truck tires. Took it to use to help my brother do some framing as his compressor was busy at another job site, this thing wouldn't start up again on me, returned to the store for full refund. Lost time is very expensive. If anybody has any suggestions of a small portable compressor good for blowing off rads, blowing up tires and light carpentry pneumatic work please send me your suggestions. It will not be another of these units.

The size, rated CFM, cost, and accessories combination is really attractive in this unit. If it really does put out 5.1 CFM it can run a reasonable number of air tools making it more than a tire and ball filler. It comes with a real 25 ft hose rather than one of those little plastic coiled things which are not very useful and tangle in everything. So, because of this I ignored all the warnings about bad packaging and arriving damaged rationalizing that people are more apt to leave a review when they are unhappy with the product. The product is shipped in the vendors box which means that Amazon really can't do much about it besides simply stop selling it. The box was mildly damaged but upon removing everything, here is what I found. The inside of the box and the unit were covered with oil. The bottle of oil that is supplied was not leaking. It seemed to be oil from the unit that maybe residual from when they operated it at the factory to see if it worked and then drained it. The oil cap on the compressor was very loose so oil definitely could have leaked out. One of the pressure gauges was broken, the pressure regulator fell apart in my hand when I tried to adjust it, and the tank drain valve also broke when I tried to operate it. In this state it is inoperable and a candidate to simply return to Amazon. So why did I give it three stars rather than one you ask? Because I fixed all the broken stuff and it now seems to work pretty well and is not too loud for a small direct drive compressor. So, if you really aren't very handy with tools and such I would recommend that you do not purchase this unit. It very likely will be broke when it arrives. If you are willing to take a chance and make some repairs ie spend another $30 on parts, then you may really like this unit. Even though I just went down to the local building supply store and purchased parts, I still plan to call the vendor to see if they will send me replacement parts. At least then I will have some spare parts.

As others have reviewed the compressor is not bad, although packing of unit is the most uncaring I've seen. If you order this I can assure you that pressure gauges will be destroyed and possible plastic cover will be cracked as mine was. I needed to use the compressor and did not return it like I should have. I could have picked up a unit at a local auto parts store for less money and be assured item was not damaged. Once I replaced gauges and tightened all fittings (teflon tape was included in massive amounts) filled with oil and being thankful that the requlator and pressure switch was undamaged in shipment, the unit ran well and strong.

Like many customers, I read the reviews on this item and discovered that I should have paid more attention to these reviews. The air compressor arrived and the box was oil-soaked and damaged. The box lid was open and the UPS delivery person stayed and had me look inside the box to check for other damage. The entire unit was covered in oil and the packaging was non-existent as the compressor was sitting loose in the box without any support. I notified Amazon.com and they have been very helpful in addressing the issue, so no complaints with them at this time. It is frustrating to receive an item that is damaged, especially when you need the item to complete a job.
