Good value for the price. The air hose is chintzy, but easily replaced, when necessary, with standard 1/4" NPT hose from any major hardware store. The air flow rate is far greater than tankless air compressors, so this is a much better choice for automotive, truck, bus or RV tires. It would be over-kill for smaller tires. I didn't think it was too noisy, unless you have it very close to your ears when operating. There is an easy cure: get more hose. I don't think pulling on the ring of the relief valve to bleed off tank pressure is a good idea. It is noisy and will wear out the valve prematurely. It is also hard on your finger. Install a trigger-operated inflator instead and bleed off at the hose end instead of at the relief valve. I have only used it a few times, but am very pleased with performance so far. Durability remains to be seen. Bear in mind that the manufacturer recommends tank replacement in 10 years, regardless of how often it has been used during that time. It should last much longer if used infrequently and if the tank is ALWAYS drained after each use.Read Best Reviews of Porter-Cable CMB15 150 PSI 1.5 Gallon Oil-Free Fully Shrouded Compressor Here
I ordered this product for my husband. He is absolutely pleased with its performance and portability. Would recommend getting this brand if you are thinking of purchasing. As far as we are concerned,it is a great buy, made very sturdy, and by far better than other brands that we have looked at or purchased in the past.Want Porter-Cable CMB15 150 PSI 1.5 Gallon Oil-Free Fully Shrouded Compressor Discount?
I received the compressor as an early X-Mas gift less than a month ago. My expectation was that the compressor would serve me well as a portable unit ideal for occasional home-use, primarily for adding air to car and bike tires, and pumping up basketballs, soccer balls, etc. While the hose and accessories included with the unit seemed very cheap, I was hoping the compressor itself was not cheaply constructed. However, on the 4th time using the compressor (to add air to a car tire), the unit failed. In particular, there's a massive internal air leak (inside the case) that renders the unit unusable. The compressor runs and the tank builds pressure to 150psi, but when the regulator dial is turned clockwise to provide working pressure, there's a massive leak inside the case and pressure is immediately lost, most likely behind either the regulator itself or perhaps at the connection to the pressure gauge. In any case, I've repeatedly checked the safety valve on the side and relief valve on the bottom, which are both fine. And the leak is not coming from the hose or the hose connection, but is definitely inside the case. I'm very disappointed with the poor quality control that let this defective unit reach the customer. It may be simply be a loose internal connection, o-ring, etc., but I'm left with nothing more than an industrial paper weight in my garage, which I'll not likely return since it was bought as a gift (off Amazon.com), and because I tossed out the original box the week after I received it, making it a hassle to ship back. For the uses I bought it for this is a great little unit. I will use it to inflate bike tires, trailer tires, car tires, winterize my travel trailer and clean bike parts with a pistol gun. It is compact and light enough to take along on a road trip. The coiled hose has had some complaints but for my purposes it is fine. I do not intend to run any tools with it, but it probably would handle a small job. I looked at several other compressors and even brought one home that I was not happy with. After a lot of research this one is perfect and fairly priced. I did buy a few quick connect fittings that make changing from one use to another much faster.
