This is just what I needed to have a detachable connection between my air tank and my permanent RapidAir lines. Now I can disconnect the short hose and move the compressor if I have to. The rubber hose and fittings seem to be of good quality, made by Goodyear in the U.S.A. The hose is very flexible, bending without kinking.

This Goodyear hose is designed for connecting peripheral equipment such as hose reels to hard lines down line from the compressor. It is rubber and it's lifespan of years in operation will be greatly reduced if not used properly. This is a great hose and one of the best when used properly.

Connecting it directly to a compressor without a filter will allow oil and other sludge buildup to quickly occur in it which will soon begin to destroy it from the inside out, eventually causing a blister to form and rupture usually near one of its end fittings. Air compressors expel contaminates such as oil, moisture, and others from the air, that will destroy any rubber hose over time sometimes in only a short period of time. This is why a coalescing type filter should be used before any rubber air line. On smaller consumer grade compressors (even contractor grade portable compressors), it doesn't take a very large or expensive filter to greatly increase the life of connected rubber hoses and a filter will help prevent contaminates such as water and compressor sludge from entering and damaging air tools. Prevention steps of these buildups should also be taken by draining the compressor tank and the filter frequently which will also greatly increase the life of the air tank and the filter.

An air cutoff valve and added pressure regulator should also be in the line before any rubber hose. The reason for this is all rubber hoses should be depressurized when not in use, and all air lines should be re-pressurized slowly. The added regulator also keep the line pressure steady and allows for setting the correct pressure for the tools being used. Following this procedure will make all air lines and tools last many years even decades! Using this inexpensive Goodyear hose properly can also aid in preventing a failure that could drastically reduce the life of the components of your air compressor and never leave an air compressor turned on when not in use.

What should you use to connect a stationary (or portable for a stationary use) air receiver (compressor) to stationary lines or piping? The answer is a flexible braided stainless wire hose designed for this. They cost more, but they cost less over a period of years in comparison of their lifespan to having not used a hose where and how it was designed to be used. Here's an Amazon link to one similar in size to this Goodyear hose New Flexible Metal Hose Connector 1/2" x 18" length air compressor stainless steel braided.

What prompted me to review this product were the user reviews and submitted photos in the photo gallery. Most notably, was one of a large vertical compressor using this Goodyear hose improperly a sure path to destructive failure with no filter present to protect the hose, regulator, or any tool and line, connected after that regulator. I like equipment to last as long as possible, and using it properly is how you can keep it looking good and in service as long as possible. I have a smaller two stage 3 horsepower compressor I recently replaced the air receiver to after over 30 years of use. The whole unit still looked new after all the years of use, and the compressor runs like new after replacing the old original non-ASME tank that had begun to leak. I have since moved that compressor to the garage on my home, and installed a new 7.5 HP Emax in the garage behind my home. Proper use means less upkeep and less expense over time.

The Goodyear "yellow" 300 PSI hoses are all great products, just use them correctly and they will prove their superiority to you over any test of time. This 1/2" hose comes with well made 1/2" male NPT brass ends and can, and will last well beyond the Goodyear 10 year limited warranty it carries. I have a number of them in use that are well past the warranty, and they still look new and perform excellent.
