Q Industries HV40A2 SuperFlow Portable Air Compressor with LED Light

Q Industries HV40A2 SuperFlow Portable Air Compressor with LED Light
  • Inflate a tire in less than 3 minutes
  • 150 psi Air compressor
  • Ideal for trucks and medium size vehicles
  • Carrying Bag included
  • LED Light attached on back

Updating review.

It's now May 2012 and the pump is still running like a champ.

Keep in mind I don't use it that often, just once or twice a month.

Plug has held together. I do wish it had a longer cord or hose, but it reaches

every tire I've used it on so far.

--------

Ok.. I didn't get this from Amazon. I got it from Steve's Tools for about 5$ more.

Needed it now because my old crappy $15 pump finally died.

Pros.

Real smooth and well balanced. This thing doesn't jump around at all.

Fill speed is good, but not for large tires.

For those get the version that clamps to battery terminals.

This one topped off my P255-75R15 in decent time.

However, filling up my 60PSI doughnut spare took a while.

I don't think there is much head space for the higher pressures.

This is where the screw-on air chuck was useful.

The pressure gauge actually works and is accurate.

The switches are separate for pump and LED lights.

The handle is actually a metal heat shield for the output.

Run this pump for a while airing up a 60 PSI spare and you

will understand why it needs a heat shield.

The unit comes with a bag. Not the highest quality but

sufficient for storing the pump and a few other odds and ends.

Cons.

The screw-on air chuck can be a pain, but just overfill a bit before taking it off.

The air hose is adequate for reaching front and back tires on one side,

but you have to move the pump from one side of the vehicle to the other.

The LED lamps aren't that bright, and the blinkers are only three white LEDs.

You have to put in a red filter. They should have been red LEDs.

I'm reserving comment on the lighter connector. Looks a bit cheap compared to the

rest of this unit.

All in all I'm happy.

Honestly, I was impressed with this compressor when I first opened the box and the first 2 or 3 minutes it ran...

The price wasn't bad but this compressor sucks. If you just need one to fill tires you'd be better off with one of those pieces of crap autozone sells.

To begin with the connecting rod for the piston won't stay attached to the counterweight that mounts to the motor shaft. On top of that the counterweight won't stay attached to the shaft either. After breaking about 90psi with this thing the connecting rod and/or counterweight comes free and just bangs around inside the plastic cover.

I have machined out both pieces to keep them from slipping but the "seal" on the piston is shot and it will no longer break 80psi.

Small example of the crap construction...the motor shaft has a flat spot on it and the counterweight slides over that. But these idiots put the set screw on the round side of the shaft...and they use an e-clip to hold the connecting rod on. (it flies off).

crap crap crap, don't buy this thing unless you need a shiny red door stop.

The unit operates as advertised. It is light weight, very portable and inflates SUV, car and bike tires very quickly. The problem I am having is with the screw on hose connection to the tire's valve stem. I am never (and I mean never) able to screw the end of the air hose onto any SUV, car or bike tire's valve stem. It simply won't screw on. I therefore need to manually hold the end of the hose onto the valve stem to inflate a tire. I need to hold it in the exact proper position or the air will quickly leak out of the tire. Frustrating to say the least. There have been times when I thought the tire was inflating to find out that I didn't have it in the proper position and the tire was actually deflating.

I just sent an email to Q Industries to find out if the "Optional clip on tire valve inflator extension" that Q Industries sells on their website for $5, will work with the HV402A that I purchased. If this won't work, I am hoping they can provide another alternative.

If they don't make a different adapter or hose for this unit that actually works, I will need to deem the HV402A useless and find another portable air compressor. And that's a shame considering I spent $50 to buy this unit and it's only a few months old.

The second time I used the compressor it stopped functioning properly. I am now trying to return it and will not buy another. I received a replacement unit for free, it was also defective, I received a third unit free and have been using it every since. It works great. The customer service was excellent!! I wouldn't hesitate to buy a replacement.

I've been using to inflate my slowly leaking tires through the winter. It's kinda slow but gets the job done. LED light comes in handy.

Factory-Reconditioned Porter-Cable C2002R Oil-Free UMC Pancake Compressor

Factory-Reconditioned Porter-Cable C2002R Oil-Free UMC Pancake Compressor
  • Like-new factory-reconditioned version of Porter-Cable pancake compressor
  • Induction motor provides longer life and better performance
  • Soft-smart motor can easily run off of normal household circuits
  • Runs at 3.5 SCFM for faster recharf of six-gallon tank
  • Includes 120 PSI cut-in pressure that provides 30 PSI bonus air

Received in record time. Compressor looked brand new, up to pressure in 2 minutes out of the box. BUT THE REGULATOR WAS BROKE. On inspection there were no parts inside the reulator except for a spring! Obviously no one checked to see if it worked at all. However, Amazon so far has gone above and beyond to accomadate me (next day shipping for free) on the replacment. Hope it works!

Got the replacment today, again record time! Looks great, everything appears to be working fine. Thanks Amazon, RM

Unlike previous factory reconditioned items I have gotten in the past, this unit came unprotected in an aftermarket box, and appeared to have just been unplugged, dropped in the box and shipped. The power cord was not even wound around the storage area provided on the compressor. No owners manuel and worse than that, no warrantee card. I plugged the unit in and it seemed to build and hold pressure, but returned it anyway.

Ordered this from Amazon after a nightmare experience with the same model ordered from an eBay seller.

The 'nightmare' unit was over spray painted, stuck drain valve, dirty, stained (used) manual, no air hose and most importantly it did not work. Apparently the regulator was toast. Clearly a broken return they tried to pawn off. Returned unit to seller (crook?).

This unit from Amazon looks and runs like brand new. I can open the condensate drain valve with my fingers. Unit came with a new manual and a brand new air hose with connectors attached. Beautiful. Clearly a true "factory refurbished" unit.

Tried it out. It went to 150 lbs and shut off automatically. Filled some tires, and the unit kicked in at 120 lbs to refill.

Excellent. Good buy! Don't hesitate to buy this product from Amazon.

Inspect carefully and test on arrival. I bought one for a project that fell through, and didn't try it for about 6 weeks. The pressure gauge was defective so the unit wouldn't turn off. I was able to return the unit, but I had to pay a restocking fee. The unit I received was poorly repainted and they just sprayed over rust on the bottom. I wouldn't buy this unit again.

Before puchasing this product, I read many of the reviews, and I must say I was a bit hesitent in ordering. I buy most of the products I use outdoors as "Factory Reconditioned", and to date, I have only had to send 2 back. I simply could not fix them myself. The key to reconditioned products, to me, is not needing to use them on receipt. Plan ahead. Then, if there is a problem, you CAN afford to wait. With that said, I had to send this compressor back. It simply would not send air to the outlet valves, or to the outlet gauge. Was it defective?? Yes. So, I emailed Amazon and they shipped me out a "new" reconditioned item, all tolled, it took 8 days. (ship defective one back, and receive replacement item.) Was I pleased with the service.?? Yes. Did I get what I paid for?? Yes. Was I irritated with the transaction?? No.! Why not, you say.? Because I used Murphy's Law, what can go wrong, may go wrong. The idea that a reconditioned item will arrive with no flaws is just asking too much in todays world. Yes, read reviews, but if you want to save some big bucks for a decent item, plan ahead, and have time.

My 2nd compressor arrived on December 12,2011, and when powered up to run for a few minutes to purge water from the tank, everything worked fine. However, when the air bleed was closed on the bottom of the tank, and it was run up to 150PSI, when the unit powered off, there was a slight air leak under the air gauges, which was rectified with 2 hose clamps that were easily installed by me, for an additional $2.00. Powered up to 150PSI and shutting off at pressure, not an airleak to be heard. I'm very pleased with this product for the money paid. And yes, I'm a do-it-yourself homeowner.!

MARSHALLTOWN The Premier Line E400 The Enforcer Portable Texture Sprayer

MARSHALLTOWN The Premier Line E400 The Enforcer Portable Texture Sprayer
  • 2.5 Gallon Capacity
  • One Air Hose from any Compressor Pressurizes both the Tank & Hopper Gun
  • Piston Seal Cleans Inner Tank Walls
  • Move from Job-to-Job without Clean Up
  • Efficiently Refill using a Mud Pump

I like this overall. We only use it for patch and remodel work now. It really shines texturing closets, stairwells, small bathrooms and odd shapes where a hopper gun is difficult to use.

After texturing four whole houses, seven remodels and dozens of patches, we have figured out the few bugs. It is very sensitive to air pressure and flow. We also had the gun start leaking mud all over the operators hand the second time we used it. We took the gun apart, cleaned it, put it back together with new RTV silicone and it works great now. You have to make sure that the selected nozzle size is centered over the outlet hole on the gun or the pattern and size of the texture is negatively affected. You also want to stop and refill it before it runs out or it will shoot a few big globs of mud right as the tank runs dry.

One thing you have to do is keep the lid really clean, any buildup of mud and you can't get the lid off without a hammer and prybar.

Buy MARSHALLTOWN The Premier Line E400 The Enforcer Portable Texture Sprayer Now

Initial tests indicate the Marshalltown E400 Enforcer will do the texturing work that I expected of it and it appears to be a well designed and manufactured piece of equipment. However, what you really need to know, ahead of time, is that the compressor used to drive it must, at a minimum, deliver 5.0 CFM at 40 PSI. This information was only available on a 2" by 1" sticker appended, seemingly, as an afterthought, to the front cover of the Enforcer Instruction Manual that shipped with the product. Compressors with such output are typically bulky twin tank units in the $275 to $375 and up price range. A pancake-style compressor delivering around 3.7 CFM at 40 PSI does not meet the minimum requirement to drive the E400. However, ganging two pancake units through a "Y" manifold with inline check (non-return) valves on the "Y" for the feeds from the compressors and setting each compressor's regulator to the same output pressure, is a potential workaround, if you know what you are doing (but not for dummies).

The Source OA-TANKBT Protective Tank Boot for 10 lb. The Source High Performance Portable Air System

The Source OA-TANKBT Protective Tank Boot for 10 lb. The Source High Performance Portable Air System
  • Extra Protection
  • Fits 10 lb. Cylinders
  • Heavy Duty Resin
  • Comes in Black
  • Non Skid Bottom

I like the product it works good, but there is a couple of issues with the product, first it didn't fit the tank I purchased it for, as much as I tried I could not get the tank to fit in the boot, it was about a 1/4 of an inch too small, finally I took an industrial heat gun and heated up the 'boot' untill it got pliable then it would go over the tank, I doubt I will ever be able to get it off as I'm sure when it cooled down it contracted to it's normal size, but that's OK it's on there now so no need for it to come off. Second the points on the top keep the tank fitting flush against the holding bracket so I couldn't secure it with the locking handle, so I had to take a Dremmel to it and grind the points off so it would be a 'circle not a hexagon then it would fit flush up against the holding bracket so I could use the locking handle to keep the tank upright, all in all I'm satisfied with the product but these two issues were a challenge.

Sunex International SX233A 3" Air Cut-Off Tool with Guard

Sunex International SX233A 3' Air Cut-Off Tool with Guard
  • Built-in regulator
  • Safety lever throttle

I really can't say much since I'm just a home user and just started getting into air tools. I have no idea how it compares to other cut-off tools and I will not be a heavy user either. In fact, I've only used it once. although I have next to no experience with these tools, it feels really solid and performed well enough for me and I must say it looks good too. no complaints here.
