I purchased this gun for putting 'knockdown' on my kitchen ceilng and walls. I have had absolutely no experience in doing this before. It was a 'growth' experience. There is a plethora of information on the internet, videos et.al., but none gave a start to finish discussion of how to do this. In the long run, you have to experiment on some scrap material or a section of the wall that will be covered up (by cabinets etc.). I bought the 'knockdown' material from Home Depot and simply followed the mixing directions on the package.

I did the walls first. Great! the gun performed perfectly. It took a number of tries before I got the balance between the opening to be used (I used the 3rd largest hole ..next time I'll use the next smaller hole.), the amount of trigger pull needed ('winged it' mostly wide open) , and the pressure from my compressor (=< 40# ... less may be better). And that's the beauty of this machine.. it's so easy to change settings. I love the all metal construction of the gun and the hopper is made of very good plastic type material. Although there is a variable 'stop' that can be used to limit the amount of trigger pull, I was not able to find the right location...and so as I said I simply pulled it all the way back and relied upon the orifice opening

And now we come to the ceiling (and the reason for the 4 rating instead of the 5). This unit comes with a plastic elbow attachment which is supposed to allow you to tip the gun upwards whilst keeping the hopper vertical, to avoid spillage. Thinking back, I seem to remember an innocuous comment on one of the internet sites (not in the manual!) about tightening the lower part of the elbow attachment with a hose clamp. I really remembered that when the hopper popped of the gun and the material started running down my arm and onto the floor. The stuff was starting to set up so had to finish by trying to hold the hopper in place by putting pressure on it. Made for a sloppy and uneven ceiling job, which turned out to be passable. I did buy a hose clamp and it makes the whole ensemble rock solid ..... but com'on guys... for crying out loud, just put the hose clamp in with the gun... REALLY!

Bottom line: This is a great gun, better than those I saw in the home improvement stores (IMHO) and I would recommend it to anyone who needs to do knockdown on a large area. Just remember the hose clamp or the gun will remind you!

We first bought a cheap pattern sprayer and it broken after a couple weeks. We bought this one and it works great. Easy to take the gun apart and clean it after use. Multiple holes for changing the sprayer pattern. Easy to hold the bucket when doing the ceiling. The only problem you need an extra hole clamp for the 45 degree elbow or else it will fall off.

I had 2 Goldblatts for over 30 years until they finally wore out. I automatically ordered another Goldblatt.. Big mistake! I had modified the first 2 guns with a PVC 45 bend so the guns worked better for ceilings. This new gun has a "rubber seal" where the gun meets the hopper. The hopper is impossible to keep on the gun, even with the clamp provided. They have changed the size of the hopper and gun just enough so a PVC 45 ell no longer fits. The gun is OK for walls, but not worth a darn for ceilings because of the improper angle you have to hold the gun at to get the mud to flow to the gun. In 6 texture jobs, the hopper came off the gun 6 times. Such a nice mess when it does! I cut my finger trying to clean the inside of the gun due to sharp casting edges left in the gun. This appears to be a cheap Chinese mess.

This bad boy will do the work of a much larger compressor. It will easily run several guns on a framing crew or even a roofing crew. The HP rating is a little misleading compared to other compressors. 2 HP isn't max , it's continuous. I have one of these (Emglo 2HP) that's been abused and used hard for several years now with no problems ,only good dependable air. I highly recommend it. If I could change one thing I would make it quieter.

I use this with my Paslode; 16 Gauge and Framing nailers, I hang then trim doors, sometimes rebuild sills and headers. I also do various trim/frame carpentry on other projects.

If you are worried about changing the oil its only once a year!

If you are worried about operating on a slope, i have always found a flat spot to locate it in, even roofers leave theirs on the ground, just put on more hose. Who wants to carry this up a ladder anyway?!

I would never buy an air compressor without a user serviceable airfilter!

I received this unit last week and am in the process of disassembling it, moving it into the garage attic as my floor space is limited. The ONLY reason I purchased this unit was the compact size and the fact it was $300 less than in Ingersoll Rand 3HP wheelbarrow compressor. I purchased this unit site unseen as it is hard to find this config in the local big box stores.

The compressor is relocated but not running yet but my first impressions are memorable.

1) The pressure switch on this unit is CHEAP, CHEAP plastic. Also, the phillips screw that holds down the cover to the pressure switch was thoroughly gauged by the hacks at CHPower before the unit shipped from their factory. I'll probably end up making a flat head screw out of it by taking the hacksaw to the head after it strips out completely as it seems to be cheap white metal.

2) The main pressure outlet on this unit is 1/4", not 3/8" on this "10+" cfm @90 psi machine ! Without doing the math to see what kind of velocity is screaming thru that 1/4" heavy hex fitting they have screwed into the pressure port of the vessel, let's just agree it should be at least 3/8" compared to other compressors of this size I've seen. Most likely, I'll end up replacing the main pressure tap port on the pressure vessel with something larger. It appears to be a screw-in hex fitting, but I'll just use it as-is for the time being.

Again, not impressed with the unit is CHEAP and POORLY engineered. Would I purchase this unit again, NO if money was no object. Was I expecting for more. DEFINITELY.

This appears to be a nice compressor for a homeowner. The specifications are superior to anything you can buy from a brick-and-mortar store. Unfortunately, my experience was less than pleasant.

I ordered the compressor on August 10. It was delivered by an 18-wheeler (freight) on August 19 even though I was promised it would be delivered by a delivery truck. I had to meet the 18-wheeler at the local Airport in a borrowed truck to take delivery. That wasn't too hard though, I can get through this.

The shipping container the compressor came in was basically a cardboard box (this thing weighs 200 pounds) which offered no protection whatsoever. The large plastic belt guard was broken. I assume every one of these compressors arrives damaged like this. I called Amazon and they gave me a refund to cover the cost of repairs. Excellent customer service. The belt guard could be ordered on-line and it was held on with only a few screws. That wasn't too hard. I can do this.

A further inspection of the compressor revealed that one of the two bolt holes that attach the air-cleaner to the pump had no threads. That was easy enough to fix. Just tap the hole. That wasn't too hard. I can do this.

After using this compressor for a couple of days, I noticed that the tank was slowly losing pressure. I discovered a pinhole leak in one of the tanks welds. That's too hard. I can't fix that. I called Campbell Hausfeld for help. They gave me the name of a repair facility located about thirty miles away through the mountains of North Carolina and Georgia. I took the compressor to them on August 24. The round trip takes two hours along winding mountain roads. When I called them on September 7 to find out what was taking so long, I was told they had ordered the wrong size tank and they had to reorder the tank. On September 13, I was told the compressor was ready to pick up but that they couldn't test their repairs because they didn't have the correct 240 volt plug to run the compressor. I picked it up anyway. When I got it home, I went to test it and noticed that the motor pulley and the pump pulley were grossly misaligned. If they had tried to run the compressor, they would have torn up the belt. I ran the compressor after the pulleys were aligned and discovered two massive leaks at two different fittings. Much worse than the original problem. I called the repair shop and asked them to come to my house to repair the compressor since they gambled by not testing their repairs and lost. I wasn't going to trek though the mountains again for an hour (twice) with a 200 pound compressor rattling around in the back of my SUV. Obviously he refused so I fixed the leaks myself. (First I called Campbell Hausfeld for guidance before attempting the repairs. They were very helpful. They even sent me a free gift when they found out the problems I was having.) One of the leaks was caused by the installation of the incorrect fitting. Apparently the repair shop had destroyed one of the production fittings and replaced it with a similar fitting that would never seal. It wasn't long enough.

Anyway, NOW I think I have a nice compressor.

AWFUL! Campbell Hausefield is a piece of junk. If you want a compressor that is not designed to break in little more than a year go with an Ingersal Rand. I bought a brand new C.H. and 2 months in the set screw for the pulley fell out and rattled around then got lost. The pulley is not close to being true. It is lop-sided and wobbles badly. 8 months after the purchase the compressor slows down to almost nothing after 60 psi. They will not sell me a replacement start or run capacitor only a $200 motor. Found capacitors for it somewhere else but still have problem. Also changed the check vavle and nothing is better. Customer support is awful. can not even tighten the screws at factory, can't make a true pulley, can not say one good thing about it. If you are going to use it 2 or 3 times a year it might last for 3-5 years. maybe. absolute junk IMO!

This is a great compressor for a home shop or even a small business. With a 240V motor, the compressor is able to put out over 10 SCFM at 90 PSI. I am able to run my 6" random orbital sander at 98% duty without any drop-outs. Granted, the motor will pump the whole time, but it certainly provides enough air. Same story with die grinders, cutoff tools, air ratchets, impact wrenches, etc.

I was concerned about the noise level before I purchased it. Those concerns proved to be unfounded. Compared to the tiny (~2-6 gal) oil-free compressors, this thing is super quiet!

The physical size is perfect for sitting under my workbench. Maintenance is a breeze, too. I am certainly the envy of my neighbors now!

A friend of mine wanted a Campbell Hausfeld compressor as a gift to replace her husbands's very old CH compressor that had served well. I recommended buying through Amazon which she did. We agreed that the packaging problems surely had been corrected since they originated several years ago.

I am really happy purchasing factory reconditioned tools. This item arrived in the regular factory packaging and the compressor itself looks brand new. I like the compact size and the capable 6 gallon tank. Shipping costs were reasonable and it arrived 2 days before promised.

I would recommend this air compressor to anyone.

Worked great for several months. Has a 1 year warranty. Had to send to repair shop. Cost a fortune to send due to weight. Took forever to get it fixed, especially when you need it to complete job. It started to build up pressure then all of a sudden it sounded like a vacuum cleaner and lost pressure. The handle also cracked on it. They replaced the complete compressor unit and handle. Paid about $120 for it as combo kit with nail gun and hose. The compressor part was $120 list and return shipping about $35 UPS. I do not know the repair labor charges. Still works fine but 140 psi is all it puts out not 150psi as stated. 100psi or 90psi is best for tools. Works great with framing nail gun and stapler as well as brad nail gun all Bostitch products.

I have owned this compressor for about two weeks so far so I can only comment on setup and limited use, as well as voltage requirements that prospective owners should know about before purchasing any air compressor.

I installed it at my place of business and quickly realized that the motor is wired for 230 volts, but my service supplies 208 volts. I emailed Campbell Hausfeld and they replied within a week,telling me that the motor requires a minimum of 215 volts to operate. I then called Emerson where the compressor motor is made and they told me that they do not recommend running the motor on 208 volts, and that the motor is not capable of being rewired for 230 volts.

Further research led me to hire a electrician to install a "buck and boost transformer" to raise my voltage from 208 volts to 230 volts. This was the solution I chose, rather than return the compressor and buy one that ran at 208 volts, because my research showed that the compressor would run more efficiently at 230 volts than at 208 volts. After all, if I couldn't achieve the maximum cfm that the compressor is capable of then why bother with a 2 stage compressor in the first place? The transformer cost $ 138.00 and the electrician another $ 180.00 for his expertise.

When the installation was complete we threw the switch and the compressor ran perfectly with a moderate amount of noise and hardly any vibration (I bolted it to the concrete floor with neoprene pads under the feet). So far I have only used it for about two hours on one project, but from what I can see it works perfectly. It builds pressure up to 175 psi as listed, then sits idle until the pressure drops down to 125 psi. I have another project coming up within the next two months and will follow up this review at that time.

UPDATE: I have now owned this compressor for about 18 months and I am happy to report that it has worked perfectly. The only con that I can see is that there is a very slight dripping of compressor oil that seems to be coming from the drain plug and dripping down the side of the air tank over time. I see this as an extremely minor issue because the level of compressor oil is still where I started when looking at the glass "bubble" on the side of the unit. I have not had to add any compressor oil to the unit. In hindsight, I should have removed the oil drain plug and wrapped it in teflon tape before filling the unit with compressor oil. I would definitely recommend this compressor.

I should say that the unit did have a bad pressure switch on arrival but CH got that rectified quickly. Since, the initial problem there haven't been any and it has worked as expected. I have it in my hobby shop and it easily keeps with anything and everything I do. I have heavy air consumption tools and it has no problem keeping up, it could handle 2-3 times what I do and still keep up LOL.

This unit makes single stage, 60 gallon compressors sold at the BORG look and perform like toys. ;-)

First this compressor is manufactured in Singapore. Should you need parts or anything else for the compressor head in the future this may be a concern.

Advertised as a seven and a half, 7.5, Horsepower compressor. I was planning on replacing my 5HP compressor until I found the amp rating on the motor was the same as my 5HP compressor. Physics says you can't get more power from the unit than you take from the wall. This is a 5HP motor. I don't care what the placard says. Amazing this type of advertisement is even allowed. Poor consumer that doesn't know a thing about electricity. He is at the marketers mercy.
