Compressor Saver CSR U1 Hard Start Capacitor

This kit is great for any type compressor (scroll or reciprocating). Easy to install & will not harm compressor windings because of the lower capacitor rating (88-108uf). (If you need a Hard Start kit to try to free a stuck compressor you will need a kit with a much higher uf rating.) This kit lowered my start up amperage by 10 amps. If you are thinking of buying a 2 wire kit think twice because most of them work on a thermistor and will only work once and not again until the thermistor cools down and on a hot day that could be awhile. Since a 2 wire type operates on temperature and not on the run speed of the compressor it could stay in the circuit longer than needed or not long enough. This 5-2-1 kit removes the capacitor from the circuit when the compressor reaches a certain speed which is done by the relay sensing voltage.

I emailed the company to ask a question about the type of relay that they used & received an answer back the same day from one of their technical engineers. How refreshing it is to get a prompt response from a company these days.

You may spend a little more for this start kit but is well worth it as it should last longer than a 2 wire type and is safer for your compressor.

Last year I had the HVAC guy come out and work on my AC compressor. He used a two wire hard start kit to get my compressor going and said that I had a "tight compressor". The compressor worked for the hottest months of the year then quit again. When it quit it took the contactor and the transformer with it. I decided to take a chance on this hard start kit. I replaced the contactor, the 115 volt to 24 volt transformer and I added this 521 kit. The compressor came on and I have had nice cool AC this summer.

I did a lot of research before buying the 521 kit. I would recommend that anyone who wants to install a hard start kit avoid the two wire kits. All the reading I did indicates that over the long haul they are trash. Spend a few extra bucks and get this kit. It works great.

BTW, My unit is a 2.5 ton residential unit.

this part is completely compatable with your older compressor. It installed easilly, and with no modifications other than trimming the plastic unloader tube to the correct length. I reccomend that you purchase the correct unloader check valve while your at it, to prevent further problems once fully assembled.

The product is and works as advertised. Assembly consists of unscrewing the top from a 'toothpaste" type flexible tube and threading it onto the metal injector. You squeeze the tube to prime it and the grease gun works as stated. It delivers a measured amount of grease on each push with the palm of the hand into the fitting you have selected. A few drops (2-3) of the included oil goes into the inlet of the air tool about every thirty minutes depending on use of the tool, if you don't have an auto oiler.

Bear in mind that different air powered tools take different kinds of grease. Some have grease fittings and some don't. This grease is specific for my Ingersoll-Rand Tungsten ratchet which has two lubrication ports. My Chicago Pneumatic has no grease fittings.

Read the owner's manual or call the manufacturer to see what kind of grease, if any, is required and when. There are various kinds of grease for different tools, even within the Ingersoll-Rand tool lineup. I was all set to order from another site, but decided to call I-R. I am glad that I did. I would have ordered the wrong grease, even though the grease gun was the same. I-R told me exactly the kind and type of grease needed. I went to Amazon and they had it. If you use the wrong type of grease you can degrade the performance of the air tool or even damage it. Mine requires greasing every 48 hours of use. That can be a long time interval because the tool is used in short bursts amounting to seconds. I hope that whoever reads this finds it helpful.
