Makita 3606 7.0 Amp 1 HP Router

Makita 3606 7.0 Amp 1 HP Router
  • Contoured double handles for comfort and control
  • Large calibrated depth control ring
  • Shaft lock for quick changing of bits with just one wrench
  • 3-1/2" diameter detachable motor for use on commercial router bases
  • Hi-speed motor for powerful smooth cuts

For what this is, it is an excellent little beast.

It does its little tasks perfectly; I keep it for hinges and lock keeps. I set the depth at the beginning of the job and never have to change it. My more expensive and heavier router stays in the box.

Weighs nothing and with the right bit it saves me a fair amount of work.

Buy it without thinking too long or deep.

All my routers are Makita and they're all a pleasure to use. This one is no different. I wanted something I could put a template on to rout door hinges. This is light weight and great for that job. Just beware it only accepts 1/4 inch bits.

I bought this router for my husband for Christmas. He makes wood signs and needed a light weight router for carving. He put the Makita 3606 router on his wish list but thought it might be expensive since you can only get them from the manufacturer or independent wood shops. I found it on Amazon for an amazing price and he was so excited on Christmas morning. He has already made a few signs for our friends with it and he LOVES it!! This was a GREAT BUY!!!!

WL212000SJ Campbell Hausfeld Air Compressor Pump / Motor Kit

WL212000SJ Campbell Hausfeld Air Compressor Pump / Motor Kitoverall quality of the pump seems good. my biggest and only issue is the center section near the fan. the original body was longer. this is where the strap mounts over the pump to hold it to the base plate/ tank. the new pumps center is much smaller and when you put the stap on it hits the plastic fan shroud. i modified my strap mount to make this work. once every thing was bolted down it fired right up and built pressure nice and fast. only other issue is the air intake/ cylinder head is missing a plate where the muffler installed on my old pump. not a huge deal

Fit my compressor with no problem, and it works great. All the small parts the i needed. Would buy for this vendor again.

ROLAIR 2.5 HP Electric Air

ROLAIR 2.5 HP Electric Air
  • Powerful 2.5 HP motor is rated for continuous duty use
  • Cast iron pump cylinder with splash lubrication ensures long service life
  • Heavy duty wheels and integrated handle make it a breeze to transport and maneuver
  • Handle folds down for easy storage and added mobility
  • Control panel features air gauges, 2 couplers and regulator

I have owned many compressors over the years from big screw type down to portables. I am very impressed with this little guy. The cart makes it perfect to wheel around wherever I need it. Recovery rate is beyond what I expected. The compressor is quiet and doesn't pull power like similar units. As far as construction goes, I expect this compressor to last many years. Rolair hit a homerun with this one!!

Buy ROLAIR 2.5 HP Electric Air Now

I purchased this compressor for a small pro shop. I liked the air ratings it had, the size and price. It works well in all respects, except I'm really disappointed in how loud it is. I've used a lot of compressors, and this is about the worst. It's an unpleasant and obnoxious loud which requires ear protection in a small shop and would really suck at a jobsite. I regret not spending more and buying one of the bigger, belt driven Rolairs, which have much lower volume and probably last longer as well.

I purchased this compressor to run two nail coil roofing guns. The unit does not disappoint. I have used cheap oil-less bostitch and craftsman brands in the past and rarely get a year out of them before they turn to junk, even though I take good care of my equipment. Tired of throwing away compressors....I decided to try Rol-air since their reputation is excellent and the unit seemed to match my needs. It is well built. Not a light unit, but I consider it portable. Two people required for stairs. The fold down handle is a great feature. With the handle folded, it just fits in the bed of my truck with a soft cover. It is not excessively loud, but compressors are noisy machines. Noise is not an issue for me. Quick recharge keeps us gunning. The makita 2400 was a little cheaper, but I'm glad I went with this unit. I'm a satisfied customer so far...

Compressor Saver CSR U1 Hard Start Capacitor

Compressor Saver CSR U1 Hard Start CapacitorThis kit is great for any type compressor (scroll or reciprocating). Easy to install & will not harm compressor windings because of the lower capacitor rating (88-108uf). (If you need a Hard Start kit to try to free a stuck compressor you will need a kit with a much higher uf rating.) This kit lowered my start up amperage by 10 amps. If you are thinking of buying a 2 wire kit think twice because most of them work on a thermistor and will only work once and not again until the thermistor cools down and on a hot day that could be awhile. Since a 2 wire type operates on temperature and not on the run speed of the compressor it could stay in the circuit longer than needed or not long enough. This 5-2-1 kit removes the capacitor from the circuit when the compressor reaches a certain speed which is done by the relay sensing voltage.

I emailed the company to ask a question about the type of relay that they used & received an answer back the same day from one of their technical engineers. How refreshing it is to get a prompt response from a company these days.

You may spend a little more for this start kit but is well worth it as it should last longer than a 2 wire type and is safer for your compressor.

Last year I had the HVAC guy come out and work on my AC compressor. He used a two wire hard start kit to get my compressor going and said that I had a "tight compressor". The compressor worked for the hottest months of the year then quit again. When it quit it took the contactor and the transformer with it. I decided to take a chance on this hard start kit. I replaced the contactor, the 115 volt to 24 volt transformer and I added this 521 kit. The compressor came on and I have had nice cool AC this summer.

I did a lot of research before buying the 521 kit. I would recommend that anyone who wants to install a hard start kit avoid the two wire kits. All the reading I did indicates that over the long haul they are trash. Spend a few extra bucks and get this kit. It works great.

BTW, My unit is a 2.5 ton residential unit.

Cobra Products 650 Air Drain Blaster

Cobra Products 650 Air Drain Blaster
  • Clears household drains with a burst of air
  • 4 Drain Size attachments
  • Strong poly construction

I own a 100-year-old four-plex in New Orleans, so I spend a lot of time dealing with slow drains. The Drain Blaster is the first product I reach for now and it always gets the drains moving. Sometimes I have to supplement later by using the Drain King Drain Flusher (G. T. Water Prod. 186 Drain King Drain Opener)in the clean-out, but the Drain Blaster always at least gets the water moving and, in doing so, ends the emergency.

In the video I tried to present a fair overview of the Drain Blaster's strengths as well as it's limitations. I hope it helps you make an informed decision. I have more on this product and some pretty effective other drain clearing tools on my website.

The clear p-trap shown in the video is the PermaFlow Replacement Drain. PermaFLOW Never-Clog Drain

Update 02-27-2011

This Drain Blaster stopped working after about eight months of use. The seals seem to eventually begin to slip out of place inside the main chamber causing it to lose pressure. With a single-piece plastic housing, you can't open it to repair or replace the seals. When the seals go, the device goes... into the trash. I wish they made a product like this in metal, it would be worth the extra money to have a tool that could be repaired.

Buy Cobra Products 650 Air Drain Blaster Now

There is a professional version of this tool made from aluminum and stainless steel, with pressure gauge it goes for over $200. This plastic version does what the pro version does at around 1/10th the price.

A few tips: 1) make sure there is water in the drain over the drain opening (It is not the air blast that opens the drain, it is the air blast pushing the water column that opens the drain)

2)Don't be afraid to repeat the process 8 -10 times or more it will work eventually.

3) Most of the negative reviews are due to operator error. They say "I pumped it twenty times..." the instructions say "pump 20 -30 times" give it the full 30 if lower pressure blasts don't work first, and make sure they are full strokes (the plunger gets quite stiff as you keep pumping, I'd guess the last few pumps take over 60 pounds pressure on the handle)

4) When you position the blaster in the drain and pull the trigger, you really have to lean on the handle, you want all the force pushing down into the drain, not pushing the blaster up and away.

Had I bought this first I would have saved $100 or so that I wasted on other products.

I had a stopped bathtub drain that would not clear up with a shop vac, Turbo Snake, plunger, Cobra Zip-It, and a traditional plumber's snake.

This was my last attempt before calling the plumber and it worked perfectly on the fourth try and the drain is now flowing better than it ever has.

IMPORTANT NOTE: I would NOT use this on a drain that has been recently treated with Draino (lye based) or Acid based drain openers because it will get everywhere and you will get burned. I would also wear saftey goggles in case debris come flying back at you.

On the first attempt I plugged up the tub's overflow hole with a wet rag and hit the drain with the Drain Buster 650 (20 pumps). The wet rag that was stuffed into the overflow shot out across the tub and water shot about ten feet hitting the window of my bathroom.

On the second attempt I held the wet rag in place with one hand and used my other hand to pull the trigger of the Drain Buster 650 (20 pumps). I heard some gurgling in the drain and knew I was on the right path.

The third try was done using 25 pumps and the water started to drain.

The fourth try was done with 30 pumps and the water was rushing down the drain.

I really love this product. It turned a nightmare of a clogged drain into a smooth operator. I would recommend this to anyone that is having problems with slow or stopped up drains.

Want Cobra Products 650 Air Drain Blaster Discount?

Bought this cause my bathtub gets stopped now and then. Actually seemed to be working well, my clogs were gone, come to find out, that the air pressure was too much for my older plumbing and ruptured my pipes. This caused way more damage and money than the cost of buying this to unstop my drains. So if your clog seems to have vanished, check your pipes, they may be gone.

This blaster worked like a champ on my clogged sink. It took 3 blasts to get things going, but that was mainly because I didn't follow the directions the first two times.

With the first blast, I didn't have any water in the pipe; so of course, nothing happened as the blaster merely puffed air into the open air space. I reviewed the directions and found my error, and filled the drain with water, plus enough to cover the blaster's adapter.

The second blast was comical. Being underwhelmed with the muffled PFFT from the first blast I held the blaster in place with one hand and pulled the trigger. My wife and I were splattered with water, as were the surrounding walls. That's when I fully realized this thing produces a small air explosion! So be forewarned. If you've used any caustic chemicals on that clog prior to trying this blaster you better make sure they've all been flushed out of the system. If there's any doubt, I would definitely use goggles and gloves, as the directions recommend.

For the third shot I really leaned into it to make sure none of the pressure would be released out the sides. Boom! The clog cleared.

This product requires a bit of strength. So I'd say it's probably not something to buy for your elderly grandmother to help around her house.

Porter-Cable DA250B 1-Inch to 2-1/2-Inch 15-Gauge Angled Finish Nailer

Porter-Cable DA250B 1-Inch to 2-1/2-Inch 15-Gauge Angled Finish Nailer12/9/04 My company owns 3 of these and they really do have a strong shot. We had no problems with getting the nails to set in the toughest materials. Our problems came after 8 mos of use. One of the units began having frequent jams and then started misfiring on a consistent basis. I'm a little concerned because another one of our DA250B nailers has also become somewhat unpredictable and sometimes jams. I definitely recommend the DA250B over the Senco SFN 35 or any Bostich nailers. The Senco SFN 30 and 40 are OK units. My top pick however is the Dewalt Angled Finish Nailer D51275K. All of our crews like this nailer over any of the finish nailers we've used. (Bostich, Porter Cable DA250B, Senco SFN 35, 40, 30). I will say that for the infrequent user either The Porter Cable DA250B or Dewalt D51275K will perform nicely.

Note: We use these finish nailers primarily in oak but sometimes in wood species such as Brazilian Cherry, Mahogany, Rosewood, Maple and other exotic wood types.

Update 07/07/05: I have had each of the 3 Porter Cable DA250B in the shop for repair 1-3 times each within the 1st year. I think it's time to switch entirely to Dewalt. Porter Cable shouldn't mind now since it's owned by the same company now. Also I should add that the Dewalt finish nailer we have is still working flawlessly with the original driver and it gets more use than the Porter Cables.

I have been using Porter Cables 16 gauge finish nailer, and their 18 gauge finish brad nailer, for over a year now. It has performed great. I was doing some tongue and groove cedar on a wall, and wasn't able to get a the nail on the 16 to sit down flush in the upper corner of the tongue. I picked up one of these 15 gauge, the new DA250B, and this thing kicks butt. It is substantially more powerful, than the 16 gauge. POW, their is no mistake about it. What that amounted to, was the 16 gauge would not drive the nail all the way into the inaccessable corner of the tongue. When I tried it with the 15 gauge, it drove the nail in further, all the way to clean with the surface, down in the corner. The 16 gauge took it to the extent the tip would go, but the 15 gauge went beyond the restriction, all the way to a flush finish. So you could say, the tongue extends out farther on the 15, like beyond flush. It is not the air pressure, I'm running it on a 6HP 60 gallon tank, or the setting of the head depth, I played with all of those. It simply is a more powerful machine, and the tongue appears to extend more, to drive the nail deeper in situations where you can't get the head all the way in a corner. It drives it in anyway.

I would like to make a comparison. It is like comparing the 18 gauge to the 16, but moreso. Maybe it is the new technology, but this thing kicks. The second you fire the first nail, you know it, before you even look at the result. It does leave a larger hole of course, and it has a slight D-shape to it. Reminds you of the old hand forged nail look, but on a finish nail size, and it is a little hole, rather than an exposed nail.

You will notice that Porter Cable states that it is improved to accept other manufacturers nails. I think that may be the nature of the problem some others were experiencing with the older model. They put strange nails in the gun, but now it can accept them.

I highly recommend it, and I expect it will give me the same reliability the 16 and the 18 have given me over the year.

Buy Porter-Cable DA250B 1-Inch to 2-1/2-Inch 15-Gauge Angled Finish Nailer Now

I was building a cabinet the other day and using this nailer, and man, I tell you, you could feel and hear the power of this puppy throughout the shop. It fired rounds of 2" nails in solid oak and with every shot, there was a consistent message being sent out to the wood, "don't mess with me"!

When working with solid hardwood material, and finish nails, the last thing that you want is your nails to be proud of the surface where you have to go back and set them all manually, or the nailer leaving an ugly mar on the surface. None of that with this baby;) It sets the nails and does it exactly where you want them. Very nice tool!

I can't think of a single thing that I would change about this gun. It loads easily, it is well balanced and not too heavy, the drive depth is easy to adjust, and it has never jammed even though I drive mostly 2-2.5 inch nails. I also have a 2 inch brad nailer and that may be sufficient for most people who are only going to nail molding. But for applications that require a 2.5 inch long nail or more structural support, this nail gun is perfect. I bought mine reconditioned for about a 20 percent savings and it has worked flawlessly and looked brand new.

Want Porter-Cable DA250B 1-Inch to 2-1/2-Inch 15-Gauge Angled Finish Nailer Discount?

I would give it 4.5 stars but that is not an option. I got this one for xmas, I guess the wish list on amazon does work (hehe). Just finished up a basement finsish, shot about 4 boxes of 2.5" and 2" nail through it, not a one miss or jam (watch me jinx myself). I do know that porter cable has completely redesigned the "B" version of this gun, maybe all the negative feedback for it was for the "A" version. I can't complain about this nailer, not in the least, except it seems to be slightly inconsistent in the "blow out" in the wood. It feels light in your hand and the adjustable exhaust is great.

Whistler Pro-1600W 1,600 Watt Power Inverter

Whistler Pro-1600W 1,600 Watt Power InverterI have purchased many inverters for my service truck, RV, boat, and emergency home backup, and this is what I have learned...

Buying a large inverter is confusing. Most people want their inverter to run the "continuous" loads that they have, plus have enough surge power to start air conditioners, microwaves, sump pumps, etc. Seems simple enough, but when they purchase an inverter, usually it can't handle the startup surge they were hoping. Herein is the problem: most people don't understand "Surge Duration".

Most inverters can put out more than their rated "continuous" output for surge. But the question is: How long can the inverter provide that surge? The vast majority of consumer inverters can only provide surge for 2 seconds with most less than 1 second! This is totally inadequate for hard starting appliances. I have measured the surge on my 2 hp air compressor, and it lasted about 5 seconds before it settled out to its "continuous" wattage. My 1000 watt microwave settles down at about the 3 second mark.

So what to do? Always look for an inverter with a long surge duration. The bigger inverter companies sell them, but they are usually labeled "Industrial" or "Commercial", and are much more expensive.

Which brings me to the Whistler Pro Inverters. Whistler Pro's have something they call "Smart Surge Control" that provides the surge wattage for close to 10 seconds. That is the longest I have found of any low priced consumer based inverter. I gave several a shot, and they work as advertised! They have more than enough surge duration to start my hard starting appliances like A/C, microwave, air compressor, large power tools, sump pump, etc. My 3000 watt Whistler (5000 watt surge) can start my hard starting RV air conditioner with no problem while also running my microwave!

...So add up your continuous wattage needs. Then find the wattage of your most surge hungry appliance (here is a great chart w w w.g e n e r a t o r s a l e s.c o m/w a t t a g e-c a l c u l a t o r.a s p ) and size your inverter based on those calculations.

Example:

Rated running watts ("continuous") of my lights + fridge + sump pump = 1440 running watts

Largest Surge wattage appliance is my big sump pump = 2700 surge watts

Pick the inverter that is above both ratings, in this case I would get a Whistler Pro 1600. It is rated at 1600 watts running continuous, 3200 surge.

Remember: inverters require VERY HIGH current, so the 12v cables have to be VERY large to work correctly. For larger inverters (1500 watt+) the cables need to be LARGER than the cables you see on your car battery. Large cables are expensive, stiff and heavy, but are a MUST! Your inverter will NOT run correctly without them! Follow the cable sizing guides, and don't skimp or you will be disappointed with your inverter's performance! I cannot stress this enough. Also, keep the 12v connectors clean and tight for reliable power.

Lastly, let's talk about your batteries:

Home backup, off grid or RV (large) inverter use requires more than one deep cycle battery, usually many more. Check with an inverter pro to size your battery bank correctly BEFORE you purchase your inverter.

For those of you that are running an inverter in an idling single battery vehicle, the vehicle alternator makes your battery look bigger than it is. In my truck I have a 165 amp alternator with a 1600 watt continuous inverter. It works terrific with the engine idling. I just don't use the inverter with the engine off. The continuous large current draw on an ordinary car battery will shorten its life considerably if the engine is not running. I could install a battery isolator with a second battery, but if I leave the truck idling, that isn't necessary. Remember, BIG cables, TIGHT clean connectors!

I hope this helps you with your inverter buying quest... Good shopping ;-)

I purchased this to run my appliances (fridge and freezer) in the case of power outages. Got heavy duty cable and battery clamps so can hook up to any available auto to power the unit. Tried on the chest freezer and the over/under fridge one at a time with no problems. Will only need to run for an hour every 5 or 6 to keep things cold enough to not spoil. Can also obviously run lights and other items as needed with this. Easy to store, easy to use, no need to store gas, no maintenance. There is always at least one car in my driveway too.

Buy Whistler Pro-1600W 1,600 Watt Power Inverter Now

One just can't beat the amount of wattage this item provides for the money. It seems a good quality product and simple to use. Works great, if properly set up. One thing I didn't see anybody mention is that this inverter is NOT supplied with the battery cables, which these things used to always include. As another reviewer recommended, get very heavy wiring/cables to connect this item to your vehicle because it will draw a lot of amperage when driven hard. I give this Whistler product 5 stars and two thumbs up.

Read Best Reviews of Whistler Pro-1600W 1,600 Watt Power Inverter Here

I just ordered this inverter because my 15 year old Whistler 1500 watt is going on the blink. If this one lasts have that long I will be totally happy. I think the trick to long life is mounting it horizontal and give it plenty of air space around it for cooling. I use it in my Locksmith van to run key machines, a Dremal and laptop. Not at the same time. I also don't let the inverter get stressed, I run the truck while in use. This puts less stress on the truck battery to. Past experience is why I am going with Whistler.

Want Whistler Pro-1600W 1,600 Watt Power Inverter Discount?

I've got a fair amount of experience with inverters and I'm really impressed with this one. I've been using it off and on for a few months now and it has worked great. It handles 1600 watts and then some. Make sure to use the heavy gauge cables. I tried to skimp by with 8 and it wasn't strong enough to handle the full 1600. I went to Lowe's and picked up 6 and it's working like a champ with a 3 ft lead from my 350 ah battery bank. The one thing I have noticed is the voltage readout is showing a bit lower (ex 11.9v vs 12.2) than actual when I compare with my multimeter. That's actually a good thing for me because the inverter will take your battery below 10.5 volts and I really don't want to discharge my batteries that hard. I really like the digital readouts for voltage and current watts used. It's pretty easy to see the conversion loss if you're able to run the appliance off the grid through a kilowatt and compare.

The compressor works well but not as described.

The good:

the compressor works like it should.

Pumps up and holds pressure.

Not so good:

The quick connect value leaks unless a male fitting is connected.

The shroud was broken and really lousy packaging ( almost destroyed packaging in shipping).

No hose or accessories included with the compressor as stated in description.

But after installing my hose and fitting it works fairly well. I could have brought this from harbor freight for less money ( live and learn )

That is what I was actually looking for, but after getting the unit I've realized that it says 3.8 CFM @ 90 PCI on the label of unit. Total mislead of description. Should I send it back again?

Mine did not come with a hose. I sent back the model back and told amazon customer service said they would investigate issue. I reordered and still got the same model 38648, but this one had 4.4 CFM @ 90 on the label. What I need amazon to do is fix the description, or ship by model 8550 with the advertised 5 CFM @ 90. It feels like someone has been deceitfull in this whole process, like they are selling other models than 8850. Am I missing something here??? I haven't got to the point of using the equipment...

This buffer really exceeded my expectations. It performs better than some buffers we use at our business that cost 3-4 times as much! I will be buying more!

The Neiko polisher is not expensive and runs great for the money. I needed a polisher that was lighter than my electric buffer because of arm pain. I use it on my boat. It has plenty of power. I would recommend.

I would have given this 5 stars if it came with a C shaped handle as well.

I've only used this thing briefly so I cannot comment on it's longevity but it feels like it's made well.

It isn't loud and doesn't vibrate much at all.

I'm pretty sure this isn't meant for grinding wheels but I slapped one on to test it and it did OK. I was able to bog it down a little but only when pushing hard. This will work for grinding/polishing/buffing/sanding.

Overall a great little tool.
