  • Smooth-brite finish
  • Comes in pack of 1,000 per box
  • Ships at 2-pounds

Not much to say about the nails They are exactly as described and fit my Bostitch nailer.

Sadly, Amazon shipped them loose in a cardboard box. The factory package broke open and the 4" sticks of nails were broken into 1/2 to 2" clumps. They still work, just more of a hassle loading.

This nail fits the nailer and does the job well. Only problem is related to shipping these. The extra denity/weight requires better packing materials to cushion the rough handling. They arrive with the nail packages all broken and the nails split up and randomly strewn in the over package.

GuardAir 14H01F 1/4-Inch FNPT High Flow Coupler

GuardAir 14H01F 1/4-Inch FNPT High Flow Coupler
  • US Industrial interchange type High Flow Series coupler are engineered to allow twice the flow of comparable sized standard couplers
  • Zinc plated steel construction
  • Work Range: 40-Degree-250-Degree F
  • Recommended for all Guardair safety air guns
  • 1/4-Inch Male NPT

Every time I connect or disconnect a tool or hose I am elated that we have the GuardAir High Flows instead of the mix mash of generic connectors we used to get by with.

These are one handed push to connect and one handed pull to "auto eject" disconnect. The machining is great and they have been bullet proof thus far.

When retrofitting our system I wish I would have known that a 3/8 connector will fit into a 1/4 coupler and vice versa. I unnecessarily purchased a bunch of 1/4in to 3/8in adapters and bushings. The only differences are the male and female threads. A high flow connector on a 1/4in hose will connect to a high flow coupler on a 3/8in hose. These high flows will not be compatible with non-high flow industrial, auto or universal couplers and connectors. Universal should be avoided as they always seem to leak due to having a come one come all fit.

The only thing that I might have looked at instead of these (had I known about them) are Legacy's solid stainless steel high flow connectors and couplings. I doubt I would have went with them as they are much more expensive and I don't see the GuardAirs failing, but I still would have gave it some thought.

Camco 36153 RV Brass Blow Out Plug

Camco 36153 RV Brass Blow Out Plug
  • Helps clear the water lines in your RV during winterization and dewinterization
  • Built with brass
  • Screws into RV city water inlet
  • Heavy duty
  • Easy to use

This one is much better than the plastic plugs. And the concept of blowing out water instead of displacing it with red pop is sound. The only place that antifreeze must be used is in the water pump and in the P-traps (sinks and shower).

This was the first time I winterized my trailer. This product was easy to use after I removed the valve stem from inside the blow out plug. With the valve stem in the plug the air pressure was too low, once I removed it it worked like a charm.

I bought this version over the plastic version because you can connect any type of air compressor to it. The adapter is the same kind as used in car and bicycle tires.

I used it last weekend to clear the water lines of my travel trailer and it worked as advertized.

I initially was going to just use a bicycle pump to push the water out, but I managed to borrow an air compressor at the last minute. I blew the lines for about 30 minutes and then pumped in some RV antifreeze as recommended by my trailer manufacturer.

Even though you'll only use this adapter once a year, I would recommend this over the plastic version because it should last a lifetime.

Want Camco 36153 RV Brass Blow Out Plug Discount?

I used this tool to winterize our travel trailer. Simply screw it on to your water hook-up, and then attach your standard air adaptor to your compressor hose and presto you're in business.

The tip is flexible, but secure. That is, after connecting your air hose to this plug, you can tip the hose in any of 360-degress, and it will flex. This is great, because in colder weather a more rigid adaptor might break.

I would recommend this plug for anyone that wants to winterize their RV, and I would purchase it again.

Plug has a tiny hole that is too restrictive to allow enough air volume through to do an adequate job. Hole may be small to attempt "reduce" pressure but that is not a satisfactory way to reduce pressure anyway. Need to reduce pressure on compressor regulator to avoid blowing out lines in RV Make you own adapter using a piece of garden hose, and the appropriate adapters to do a satisfactory job of removing all water from you RV lines for winter storage.

PressureSwitch, 135-175, 1Port, Unload, Sw

PressureSwitch, 135-175, 1Port, Unload, Sw
  • Air Compressor

Square D is not the name it used to be with their pressure switches, but this one still fills the bill for lighter duty equipment.

Yes, the control is lighter throughout than those of earlier times. This one actually has a non-adjustable pressure differential of 35 PSI, while its cutoff can be adjusted as low as 100 PSi or as high as 200 PSI. The factory cutoff setting is 175 PSI, so the cut-in is actually 140 at this setting.

The amperage is listed by horsepower as 1.5Hp@115 volts and 2Hp@230 in single phase power by Schneider Electric. Why they chose this oddball rating method is inane, but the actual amperage rating is going to be roughly 8-10 running amps the figure you will find and need to use from your electric motor plate. Excessive electrical draw under load? Don't go there, but momentary starter amps shouldn't cause concern unless the motor or compressor is in poor condition. This switch is not heavy duty, so I recommend dropping the factory pressure setting to decrease your compressor motor load. A cutoff setting of 150 PSI will help this switch last longer along with your compressor. Of course, this means the cut-in pressure will also drop to 115 PSI. That shouldn't be a problem as most air tools have a recommended maximum of about 90 PSI. If you're using a single stage compressor, you'll want to set this pressure lower anyway and your tank may not be rated for pressure settings over 130 PSI. This would still give you a cut-in pressure of 95 PSI which is where many 1-2 Hp compressor are set at the factory for safety concerns. The factory rated safety valve on your compressor will actually determine how high you should set this switch, but higher isn't better for any compressor use.

I have a 2-stage 2 HP compressor and this switch was just what I needed, but I would not recommend it for larger units unless used in conjunction with a higher amperage magnetic switch. The pressure differential at 35 PSI is adequate and my unit performs well with this switch. I actually purchased it for the lever switch incorporated into it, as my OEM switch did not have this feature. The included pressure unloader has a standard 1/4-inch NPSF fitting.

I am completely convinced that this is the same as the Craftsman impact that costs twice the price. This impact is perfect for rotating tires. 10 Galllon Air Sand Blaster with Ceramic Tips

10 Galllon Air Sand Blaster with Ceramic Tips
  • 10 Gallo Tank Capacity
  • Holds 40 lbs. of Media
  • Easy Rolling Wheels
  • Includes 4 pc Nozzle Set
  • Protective Hood and Fill Funnel

I've been tinkering with this product for the last few hours as I was planning on getting work done on some car parts. It has had quite a few air-flow flaws and media (a fine grain at that) keeps getting clogged in various parts. Most of the clogs seem to occur around the bottom media control valve. I've removed the valve and just straight piped it to try and get a proper flow but I've given up for now.

I would save your money for something with a better design.

Cons: Horrible media flow, clogs around media control valve, clogs around material tips.

Pros: Blow-off valve worked.

This is the same blaster sold by a dozen different brands. I bought my locally and assembled it. Read the reviews all over the web for all the different brands and you can get some great tips on how to make it work best. It's entertaining to see different brands have different results or different customers have different expectations based on the different prices they pay. Different retailers trying to submarine each other? Dunno.

A couple quick comments. Just bought it yesterday. Looks good. I like the build quality. Looking for the design I think I'll add a generic manual choke cable to move the lower valve (19B). Everyne that says they had success with it says that you really only need ot open the 19B valve halfway and that it only works well with 80 grit or finer blasting media.

Means I'll only have to drill a small hole in the valve handle and clamp the choke knob to the sandblaster handle.

For the play sand users I used to borrow a big sandblaster from a fellow permanently on disability who had used silica sand in his blaster for a while without enough protection for his lungs. He reported that it felt like he was permanently sick and had been for several years with no expectation of ever being well again. He was in his thirties. Read up and see what you think about it. Wikipedia has a great article on silicosis.I'm using this blaster with a 60 gallon Campbell-Hausfeld ~5HP air compressor. It's a single stage compressor. It does a fair job of keeping up with the blaster for a while but eventually I do have to stop and wait for it to catch up. If it'll blast at 80 psi (don't know yet), then there is less volume of air being consumed so the compressor might keep up longer. I have not had time to experiment that much yet.

Have always used tarps and a small salad colander for sifting my sand/blasting media for reuse.

The compressor pump itself is not big enough to stay ahead of the sand blaster for too long. Being that this is only a hobby rig, I can deal with it. If I was making a living with it I'd have bigger equipment.

The finer 80-grit garnet that one reviewer mentioned works best. Anything more coarse leads to clogging. I think high humidity will make a huge difference (problem) later in the summer too. Make sure your compressor has an inline dryer too. The sandblaster has one as well of course but having them in both places is worthwhile.

For a helmet I use an old welding helmet with a clear glass window that has a scrap of leather taped/glued to it to keep the grit out of my shirt. Either way its a dirty job but easier and faster than doing it by hand.

I can't comment on the effectiveness as I haven't used it yet. It is cheaply made and I wouldn't spend over $75 on it.

Makita MAC700 Big Bore 2.0 HP Air Compressor

Makita MAC700 Big Bore 2.0 HP Air Compressor
  • Cast iron pump with big bore cylinder and piston, combined with greater bore and stroke, delivers maximum performance
  • Substantially lower noise levels with a large 1,720 RPM pump, enabling greater displacement at lower RPM
  • Low amp draw reduces incidences of tripped breakers and voltage drop that can cause premature motor failure
  • Oil lubricated provides cooler running pump, minimizes wear
  • One-year manufacturer's warranty

I just received the compressor and it's the first one that I've owned. The shroud was cracked upon receipt, but I don't think it's worth the trouble to have that piece replaced.

Now that I've gotten everything figured out, I think it'll work fine, but the manual is a complete disaster. Some important setup instructions are completely omitted and others are so obtuse as to be worthless. If you don't know your way around compressors, the following steps that I took may prove useful:

1. Remove the plastic plug on the back of the compressor and pour in the included oil until the level is about half way up the little transparent indicator window.

2. Replace the disposable oil plug with the long black plastic one that they include (not in the instructions -the piece is item number 36 on the parts diagram)

3. Remove the other disposable plastic plug from the side of the compressor (high up and toward the back of the shroud. This is where you need to install the air filter (also not in the instructions.) The air filter assembly is item number 35 on the parts diagram -it's the other spare part included that's chrome and about the size of a hockey puck with a wing nut holding it together.

4. You'll screw in the air filter assembly where you removed that plastic plug, but I'd suggest that you use some teflon tape on the threads to make a good seal.

5. The instructions mention that you're to open the air receiver's drain valve for initial start up. Nowhere in any diagram is any part labeled as such, but I'm pretty sure it's item number 47, a valve on the side of the compressor very near the bottom.

Hopefully this'll save someone some time!

I have had this compressor for a couple of weeks now and really like it. It is a high quality unit clearly built to last. I chose this model over the very popular oil-free pancake compressors mainly for it's compact size and low noise level....and it did not dissappoint me. I would say this unit is half as loud as those typical oil-fee models by P*rter C*ble. I can easly run it indoors while remodeling a bedroom, and hardly hear in the room next door.

The unit is compact, but much heavier duty than similar Cr*ftman compressors I saw at Sears. It recycles quickly and fills the tank in less than 20 seconds. It came with a good owner's manual and a bottle of oil. I did have a problem where the plastic oil filler cap was cracked, but Makita quickly sent me a replacement part under warantee. I would recommend this unit to anyone looking for an occasional use compressor and does not want something large or loud.

I purchased this unit to replace an oil-less pancake compressor that burned out. The Makita MAC700 is super! It has all the attributes of a large high quality oil-lube compressor. I am very pleased to report that the unit is as quiet as advertised. By comparison, the pancake compressor this unit replaced was DREADFULLY loud. I am impressed with the powerful low-rpm motor and the heavy duty oil-lube design. In my opinion, the longevity and quietness that an oil-lube compressor offers, far outweighs the time and slight inconvenience of routine maintenance. At this time, I cannot suggest any improvements to this machine. I love it! If you are looking for a light duty air compressor, I highly recommend the MAC700 Hot Dog Air Compressor. It's great for finish nailers, car and bicycle tires, and kids' toys. A great addition to any home garage!

After working with a friend's older version of this compressor for the last eight months, I decided to splurge and get my own. If this compressor is anything like the older model, it's going to last forever. We left the older model out, under a saw table, in rain, snow, 100 degree heat you name it. Never had any problems with it.

I've only had this one for 2 days, so I can't speak much about it other than to say it's quiet enough to use and talk at the same time, and it feels very well built. It's also heavier than I expected, but the carrying handle makes moving it around easy on the back.

One thing I had read the other reviews that mentioned shipping damage and hoped for the best. When it arrived, I checked the box, and there was only one small ding in a corner. What I should have done was kept the FedEx driver there until I actually got it out of the box. It looks like someone must've dropped it, and from a pretty good height! One of the legs was bent about 2 inches, so the compressor would rock when set down. Fortunately, the compressor itself (external tubes and gauges and whatnot) are all fine.

I fired it up and it ran fine, so I decided to keep it. I'll try to hammer out the bent leg at some point. It's annoying, but I don't want to go through the exchange process and be without air for another two weeks.

The startup process is fairly simple. The manual doesn't explain what goes where when you open the box, but it's reasonably self-evident. There are two plastic plugs on the compressor that need to come out. One covers the oil filler, and one covers the air intake port. You replace the plug on the air intake port (topmost plug) with the included air filter, and you replace the oil filler plug with the included oil cap. There's a window into the oil reservoir so you can see how much oil is in it. Before you run it for the first time, fill it (with the included oil) until the oil line is midway in the window. Then, open the air release valve at the very bottom of the air tank and run the compressor for 20 minutes. After that, you should be good to go. Check the oil level periodically, of course!

On a related note, I also bought the Campbell Hausfeld MP520010AV air tool accessory kit to get me started. For the price, I'm happy with that too.

Makita has put a full size, quiet, oil-lubed motor on a small, lighter weight tank; about 20lbs lighter than the 4 gallon tanks. This makes it great for carrying up stairs and around the job site. The smaller size means it can fit through studs or sit in the footwell of your vehicle. I have used mine for finish work, roofing and framing. Of course, with the smaller tank (2.6 gal) it kicks on more often to recharge, but it is quieter than most. It is tall and narrow, so it tips easy in the bed of a pickup. This is not good for transporting, so be sure to pack things around it. When mine arrived, the box said "factory reconditioned". With two emails back and forth to amazon customer service, a brand new one was sent out and the reconditioned one was picked up.

  • Ball bearing and needle bearing construction for more efficient performance
  • Muffled handle exhaust for quiet operation
  • Variable speed trigger for positive control

I was skeptical on how much torque the drill would have, because I have a competitive brand 3/8" 1200RPM that doesn't develop much. I was pleasantly surprised, but not impressed. I'm able to stop the chuck with my hand, but it takes a good grip. I'd say the torque if comparable to my 18volt cordless. The 800 RPM is a good functional speed.

I looked over compressors for awhile and was impressed by the list of features with this model. I love the wheels and the upright nature with the handle. I have found the drain valve hard to find visually and I was extemely disappointed with the cut in factory preset at 95 pounds and the cutout set at 120-122 pounds. I see no reason for these low settings. other models cut in at 120 and cut out at 150. depending on your tool set this is a problem. My framing nailer operates best at 115-120 so with this compressor it's only operating at peak performance 1/3 of the time. I am trying to figure out how to adjust the cut in/out presssure but the manual is useless in this area. All of my other tools work great and it can definetly keep up with everything I've attempted so far other than my somewhat disfunctional framing nailer. Overall it has been a great unit so far.

Good little compressor. I bought it to run a Hitachi NV85 nailgun. It works great. Good quality. I like the solid rubber tires and the oiled compressor. Granted it is a relatively small capacity compressor just like all portable nailing compressors but unless you are nailing nonstop it does just fine. Cycle rate is fairly quick and I like that it has a good heavy grounded plug. Time will tell its durability.

Bosch RN175 Roofing Coil Nailer

Bosch RN175 Roofing Coil Nailer
  • Bosch Armour - Protects from jobsite abuse and abrasive shingles
  • Tool-less adjustable depth of drive
  • Dry Fire Lock-Out - Avoids damage to work materials and internal components by preventing blank firing
  • Tool-less Adjustable Shingle Guide - Enables user to change exposure dimension for different shingle types
  • Single Action Side Load - One step Nail re-load

One roofing job down and so far I'm impressed. Wide range of tool-free adjustment on nail depth makes it easy to get the right level where the nails are buried but not blowing through. Coworker's gun wouldn't adjust without allen wrench which was missing so we turned the air down to 75 psi and there was still room to adjust this one's set depth down. So plenty of power, seems to be spot on with Bosch's 10% more claim. Very compact, smallest RN I've seen, but not the lightest around so in theory this would make it more able to withstand the inevitable falls. Single flip open on the coil pack is nice for one handed quick changes. Dry fire protection is also a handy feature, no more blowing 3 holes in the shingle before you realize you're out of ammo.

Seems to be a little more prone to double taps than some if you're depressing the trigger after depressing the nose guard, and the only way to switch from single to sequential fire is to swap out the included trigger. Not a huge deal but the Porter Cable style switch would be nice. Has no male air end included either.

The listing I bought was allegedly new, but has been correctly changed to "refurbished" on here now, though it is (well, was) mint condition and came with a tag that said "sales demo" on it. Get 'em while they last! The different piston retract method on these guns means more moving parts to break no doubt, but if that happens within an unreasonable amount of time, I'll update this. Barring that, consider me a satisfied customer.

I used my pancake air compressor at 80psi and did one station at a time. This worked VERY well and I was very happy to have found this product so that I don't have to keep replacing my valves that bust open with the cold weather. The first 8 years I lived in my house I had manual, ball-valve valves and I didn't have any freeze issues. But once I put in an automated system, the last 2 years I've had to replace pieces of the manifold and/or valve(s) because of the freezing temps. This is a life saver!

I have a beach house with exposed pipes and I needed to blow them out for the winter. I thought this type of attachment would easily be available at Home Depot, but they had nothing like it and I would've needed to create my own by mixing multiple attachments. I bought this instead and have already used it several times to clear the pipes after day trips and it's worked flawlessly each time.

Love this hose. I got tired of wrestling with my old stiff air hose and decided to get one of these guys after seeing the roofers using them. So much easier to manage. This one seems very well made. Very happy with the purchase.

Astro Pneumatic 2618 Air Control Unit, 120cfm Capacity

This filter/control unit is available from several big name sprayer companies at twice the price. It is well made, and precise air pressure control is made easy by the large, friendly controls. Lots of stainless steel is used. I plan to buy more of these as my overpriced Campbell Hausfeld units keep breaking.

I would have given it 5 stars but I had to return the first one because the gasket leaked. Amazon was great, emailed them Monday night, had a new one Thurs. afternoon. I've had it hooked up for about an hour and it's still holding pressure. I haven't tried any tools out with it yet but I'm sure it will work great. I have it hooked up to about 65 ft. of 3/4 in. black pipe with a 4 ft. drop of 1/2 in. black pipe. 1/2 in. pipe goes in the top of the filter, four allen head bolts hold the yellow can on to the blue top. The blue top has two 3/8 in. outlets one on the front that reduces to the 1/4 in. regulator and one on the right side that's got a plug that you can remove for another air line or regulator or oiler or what evR. I'm going to buy another regulator Probably the 3/8" Amflo (MADE IN U.S.A) they have here on amazon and connect a retractable air hose to it. I have two other small Amflo filter regulators combos up farther on the line and they work great. Thanks again to Amazon for getting this new filter to me so quickly. Clean tools are happy tools :)

I found that the regulator works like it should but I was surprised to find another name brand regulator in the ASTRO box. It looks the same as pictured but it isn't ASTRO.

GMC SYCLONE 6310 Ultra Quiet & Oil-Free Air Compressor

GMC SYCLONE 6310 Ultra Quiet & Oil-Free Air Compressor
  • Ultra Quiet - Only 60 Decibels - Less Noise than someone talking!
  • Oil-Free - No Maintenance - Ectra Long Life - 3000 hour life cycle
  • Large 6.3 Gallon Steel Tank with Wheels
  • 3.80 CFM @ 40 PSI & 2.35 CFM @ 90 PSI - MAX 120 PSI
  • Low Amp Draw - 7.6 Amps

It's a little guy and you would expect it to be pretty much powerless. Not so says I. It is a god awful silver color and does actually say GMC on it. Putting the UGH in ugly aside for the moment, this thing does exactly what it says it can and does it without waking the neighbors after a midnight paint frenzy. Nah you can't use it to paint a car in an hour but who cares. If you buy this your running small paint jobs, nail guns, brad guns, small to medium air tools along with tire chucks and blowing crap out of a corner that the broom and vac wont reach. It is quiet and goes all day if you need it to. It is medium-small so you can take it with you without to much trouble.

Eat your heart out Briggs. Now if they would paint the ugly duckling black and yellow or blue or, well anything other than stark-blinding silver. Oh I think I should mention to all of you perfectionists out there that the welding points where they attached things to the tank are rough. They didn't grind 'em down to be smooth or look good-thus the silver to cover it all up.

I like it and will buy another when this ones life force blows out.

Thanks for reading.

I selected this using because I was looking for something as quiet as possible with decent airflow. I am into racing offroad RC cars and mainly use it for cleaning them in the garage.

Pros:

This unit is so quiet it is really amazing. It used to be that as soon as I turned on power to my old unit my wife would yell at me to turn it off if she was home. The first time I used this one she only came to see what the noise was once I started blowing air. The air makes more noise than the compressor.

If you are looking for an air compressor for light household duty and quiet is important then this is well worth the extra over a unit from the local hardware store.

Cons:

Mounting of wheels not well thought out. They rubbed on the side of the tank and the mounting bracket is not perpindicular to the bolt where the nut sits. A quick trip to OSH for some nylon washers and nyloc nuts and all was OK.

I have used it a number of times now and I am really happy that I took the chance and ordered this unit. Shipping was very fast too.

This is a terrific value for the money. For one thing, it's a twin-cylinder compressor so it fills up its air tank pretty quickly. And boy is it quiet! I live in an apartment building but I have no hesitation at all in using this compressor at all hours, it's so quiet. On the other hand, it does transmit a good bit of vibration to the floor, so if someone lives below you I would recommend setting it on a couple of solid cement blocks as I have done; this dampens the vibration very nicely.

Now it's true (as other reviewers have pointed out) that the construction is somewhat rough-and-ready (big ugly welds) but that does NOT detract from the overall quality, it just means it's not as pretty as it could be. Also, the wheels are not the very best design for mobility, but hey, considering the incredible bang-for-the-buck you're getting, why complain? Besides, just how much are you going to be moving it around anyway?

In addition to its other merits, this little workhorse comes with a combination air regulator/air gauge/moisture trap/quick-disconnect socket. The regulator is adjustable and if you push the cap down, it locks in place so the specific air pressure you want stays the same until you pull up the cap to unlock it again. All the hardware appears to be good solid quality too; it does not give the impression of cheapness. Also included is a 2nd air gauge that tells you what the pressure is in the air tank itself.

I have had five different air compressors over the years and this is definitely the most useful of the bunch. I can't believe what a wonderful bargain this is. Very highly recommended.

I researched compressors for days and was spooked by all the problems people had with various models. When I came across this one and read the four or five reviews that had been posted, along with the specs of the compressor, I decided to give it a try. This is absolutely the quietest compressor I have ever seen, particularly considering how quickly it pressures up the large tank. The on / off switch is very accessible and the unit can easily be moved around. This is a perfect unit to have in a home shop or garage as it won't drive your family or neighbors crazy as you work on projects late. Know that it does not come with a hose or attachments. I bought the 50' Goodyear hose and Ampro accessory kit, which was exactly what I needed. Placing the compressor at the head of my garage, I can reach vehicles parked in front of the garage with ease. Don't scrimp on your air hose and the Goodyear one doesn't fight you ... it just lays down and behaves. My only complaint is that they should include adequate washers to space the wheels away from the axle mounts so the tires do not rub. Before you start to mount the wheels, get at least 3/16" thickness in washers to fit on each axle or you will wish you had. Couldn't be happier with the unit and would recommend it to anyone.

Great compressor but.... per other reviews required 4 washers on each wheel to keep them from wobbling around and rubbing the tank. The unit also arrived without a tank drain. Contacted customer service who was prompt and courteous but sent me the wrong sized drain plug. Finally went to Home Depot and bought a 1/4" NPT drain for $3.39. The unit works great for my airbrush and detail spray gun. Quiet as advertised and included moisture trap is a plus. I would rate the compressor a 5 so far but due to the fact that it came in with minor issues that have chewed up my gas money, pocket change and time, drops it down to a 4.

Pros:

Quiet as advertised

Quick to pressurize tank

Moisture trap included

Oilless

Works great around the shop with airbrushes and LPHV detail spray gun used for large RC models

Locking regulator knob

Cons:

Arrived without a tank drain plug

Needed to add washers to wheels as noted in other reviews

It would be nice if the guages where angled or facing up so you didn't have to get down on your hands and knees with a flashlight to read and set them.

The price on Amazon dropped $15 two weeks after I purchased the unit plus 3.39 and gas for a drain plug that fit.

Stanley Bostitch SB-1664FN 16 Gauge Straight Finish Nailer

Stanley Bostitch SB-1664FN 16 Gauge Straight Finish Nailer
  • 16-gauge straight finish nailer ideal for Interior/exterior finish and trim; furniture; cabinet work; and staircases
  • Adjustable depth guide sets nails to desired depths quickly; quick-release nose door for fast jam clearing
  • Features ergonomic comfort grip
  • Kit includes finish nailer; 2-inch finish nails (1,000-pack); oil; convenient carrying case
  • Weighs just 4-pounds; 7-year warranty

I already owned a Porter-Cable 16 GA. finish nailer, and we were starting a job to hang about 1500 square feet of boxcar siding in a rustic cabin. All I really wanted was another finish nailer that would shoot the same nails as my Porter-Cable. We use the Bostitch more than the original gun nowadays. It seems to drive the nails just a little deeper.

I had given good results to this gun in an earlier review. It does fire very well when it works.

Mine stopped firing over the winter. Yesterday I called Bostitch to order an o-ring kit. It is not available. You must purchase o-rings individually. There are over a dozen o-rings in this gun.

I then decided to disassemble the gun and troubleshoot the problem. Everything looked good until I took the trigger switch apart. An internal ring had lots of slp in it and did not appear to seal as it should. I was able to buy an o-ring from my lumer yard for $.20 and it fixed the problem.

The gun fires as it did when I first purchased it.

Beware.......it will cost a minimum of... for a repair center to check this tool and then they will also have to order individual o-rings for it. Maybe Bostitch can fix this soon.

Back in October 2002, I wrote a review concerning the incident I had with the part #06 blowing out on the nail gun. This is the main Butt cap on the end of the nailer. As I stated in my review, I was not sure if it was a manufacturing error or just a fluke. After extensive research and contacting many people using the nail gun, I had reached the conclusion that it was indeed a fluke. Today, March 23rd, A design engineer from Bostitch contacted me. It seems that they have been trying to reach me for several months and finally caught me at home. They had been informed of my problem with this nail gun and were extremely concerned. As per our telephone conversation, they have sold hundreds of thousands of these units and this was the first time they had heard of this incident concerning the end cap exploding from the back of the gun. As I told him, I had come to the conclusion that this was a fluke and I did not feel that it was a design flaw. I also apologized to him for not posting a follow up concerning my conclusion that it was a fluke. This I am doing now. IT WAS A FLUKE FOLKS. I have the big brother to this gun and have used it extremely hard and it is working fine with NO problems what-so-ever. I only wish I had kept the exploded gun so I could send it back to them for analysis. By the way, they are sending me a replacement nail gun free of charge. This I am happy about because I really liked that little gun. Handy, Light weight, easy to operate and I could see my nail supply in the slide loader. Most other guns don't have a view window. Anyway, Kudo's to Bostitch. Thanks for the followup. Much appreciated...

This is an excellent nailer, maybe the best on the market. Little or no recoil, no jams and the performance is excellent. Loading is a breeze and the lightweight housing is nothing less than a dream when working in tight places. Cannot imagine a better nailer and the people at Amazon were right on with their delivery times. Thanx Amazon and Bostich!

(using wife's profile)

Pro finish carpenter, used this gun hard for 5+ years. Shot thousands upon thousands of nails through it. Had to disassemble once because I dropped it and it started leaking air out nose, just had to re-seat some bushing/bumper and hasn't leaked for the 4 years since. A piece on the nail advancing spring wore out after 4 years and bostitch sent me one no charge next day air. Broke the piece that holds magazine (dropped again) and again bostitch got me the part right away no charge. I own two of these and really like them, I do own other brands as well (hitachi, porter cable, cadex, etc.)so I'm not just a bostitch nut. I have also used other brands of finish guns. Worked with a guy who used to buy the $300+ hitachi and senco and paslode guns and now buys the bostitch. You must (with any gun) tweak the driver blade before use: The blade itself is a hair too long and needs to be ground down about 1/16-3/32" and the shoulders need to be tapered furthur up or otherwise the driver blade will make a rectangular hole with wings instead of just a small rectangular hole. once you do that the driver blade makes a perfect impression exactly the size and shape of the head of the nail.

I bought these nails for use with the Hitachi brad nailer I bought on Amazon at the same time. The nails came in a variety of sizes and functioned flawlessly. I did not experience any miss fires or loading problems. I don't know how much credit goes to these nails or or the great Hitachi brad nailer, but both work great together. If you need just one size, I would only order the single size pack, however this variety pack was great for my needs and included plenty of nails in each size.

DEWALT D55140BN 2-Inch Brad Nailer/1-Gallon Compressor Combo Kit

DEWALT D55140BN 2-Inch Brad Nailer/1-Gallon Compressor Combo Kit
  • One-gallon tank and 135 max PSI enables more nails to be fired and provides quicker recovery
  • Durable oil-free pump provides extended maintenance-free operation
  • 71 dBA operational noise level for a quieter work environment
  • Low 2.6-amp draw motor provides easy start-up and reduces breaker tripping
  • Lightweight (24 pounds), thin (9 inches), and compact design is easy to carry and store

I bought this recently to do some trim work in the house. This thing drives 5/8 all the way up to 2" brads to the same depth, using the same setting. Putting 3/4 half-round and 1/4 trim up was a breeze; I only wish I'd had it months ago when I put up some bead board.

The compressor runs alot, but what do you want with a 1 gallon tank? The compressor is easy to use, and both it and the nailer itself are the usual high quality product I expect when I buy a DeWalt tool.

This a great and handy item, and would recommend it to anybody who needs a good portable nailing system that delivers.

I have only a small shop and I work exclusively with hard woods. I was concerned with both power and noise. The nailer is easy to use and set up. The compressor is surprisingly quiet and I was impressed with how many brads could be driven before the compressor cycled on. I have no problem setting the brads below the surface in red oak and hard maple. The price at Amamzon was better than the Home Centers making this a great value. I recommend this highly.

I recently purchased this kit and am glad I did. It performs as well or better than anything else on the market. It's super light weight, making it easy to carry and so quiet you barely hear it running. Anyone needing such a kit would be foolish not to get this one.

I like the compressor and the nail gun. It works very well so far. It comes with googles which is nice.

Comes on often but that is what you would expect from 1 gallon tank. Other than that I dont have anything else to say.

DEWALT D55140 Heavy-Duty 1 Gallon 135 PSI Max Trim Compressor I recently purchased only the compressor and use it with a Grex 23 gauge pin nailer. Works perfectly. I have also used it with an old, discontinued 18 gauge nailer I've had for years. Works perfectly. The compressor is light, quiet and dependable. It is never in the way when standing on end under the bench, when not in use. I regret not buying the package. I paid $142.00 for the compressor and $40.00 for a rubber, 50' hose. My final cost was $182 w/o the nice, new Dewalt nailer.
