ETQ TG32P12 4,000 Watt 7 HP 207cc 4-Cycle OHV Gas Powered Portable Generator

ETQ TG32P12 4,000 Watt 7 HP 207cc 4-Cycle OHV Gas Powered Portable GeneratorReceived this generator in good condition 3 days after ordering! Some assembly required, which created my first concernthe nuts & bolts supplied had very poor threadsI had to screw them together with two wrenches to loosen them up enough to use. Not a good first impression. On my unit, the 240v outlet is installed at an angle with only part of it coming through the mounting hole. Either the outlet was a little too big or the hole in the mounting plate too small, but the fact that they shipped it without correcting this is troubling. The practical result is the insulating cover that should protect the back of the 240v and the 2 120v outlets does not fit properly and bare terminals are exposed behind the panel. Finally, on my unit, starting was hard initially. Upon inspection, I found the plug wire was loose. Snapped it on and it started easily.

This unit is fairly loud, but I started my 6.5 hp Craftsman lawnmower next to it for comparison and the mower was noticeably louder. I do recommend getting a funnel with a flexible neck for filling with oil.

It seems capable as rated; I connected a 1500 watt heater to the right hand 120v outlet and the voltage dropped only 1 volt. On the left, however, it sustained the load, but the voltage dropped to 114v. From studying the schematic, it appears on this generator that the load is voltage compensated on the right outlet only, which is connected to one of the two field coils on the alternator. The left outlet is not regulated, so you want to try and balance your load between the two outlets as much as possible, and connect any sensitive devices to the righthand one.

All in all, I'm satisfied with this generator for my purpose, which is emergency power for my refrigerator, gas fireplace fan and some lights.

I am a Power Quality Technician for the local power company and I have much experience with electric power. This is one fine generator. I was worried the voltage would be all over the place. I placed a 2400 watt load using a Mega Beast on this and it varied by 1 volt! Nominal 120 volts. I was very happy. This will work in an emergency to keep the heat on and the beer cold as long the total watts is not exceeded. Recommended!

I bought this generator for my parents, to keep their fridge and freezer going and allow them run small appliances during a power outage. This unit seems perfect. I like that wheels and a fold away handle are included, and the unit starts easily and is fairly quiet. The only negative comments I have are that the pull start handle is blocked by the front panel, making it necessary to pull the rope partway out and then pull it at about a 30 degree angle to the motor to start it. This isn't a big problem, but over time it might cause the rope to wear faster than if you could pull it straight out. As other other reviewers pointed out, the oil reservoir is nearly impossible to fill without a long, very narrow funnel, but since you may only do this once every few years, again, no big deal.

UPDATE 9/21/08: Used it in the aftermath of hurricane ike. Fortunately my power was restored after only 4 days. So I was able to use the generator for a while about 40 hours continuously. It ran flawlessly, powering my 50" plasma TV, DVD player, receiver, refrigerator, and window A/C, plus countless cell phone chargers, several lights and other items. The generator ran continuously (except for a refuel and oil changes changed oil @ 20hrs) and quietly without any problems. This made what could have been a miserable ordeal into merely inconvenient. The generator was also extremely fuel efficient burning about 6 gallons a day running all of the above items (only the fridge continuously). I highly recommend this generator and am very satisfied with my purchase. Refueling was easy, and the gas gauge worked fine. BTW fuel efficiency is nice post disaster as getting gas is hard (I stockpiled 30 gallons)

Original:

I purchased this generator (280) before its recent price increase, and thought it was an exceptional value for a backup generator I live in Houston and wanted it for emergency power. It had the most important features I felt for a crisis in the south. Enough power to run a window a/c and fridge + entertainment devices. Plus its fuel efficient as gasoline is hard to come by in a crisis (storing 20 gallons for 72 hours). What really sold me on the generator is the GFCI outlets. A must have safety feature, that you have to add to the cost of other generators (27.50 for an extension cord with it) Also keep in mind that if you need this for emergency power figure how many gallons you'll need + extension cords. For me I spent another $100 for oil funnel, oil, gas tanks, extension cords.

1st the real specs... This generator has a 6.5HP 196cc and it claims to have a 13hr run time at half load for a full tank. The engine is manufactured by Chongqing AM Pride Power & Machines Co LTD. Mine was model #8CPPS 2071GA. It is also rated at 75db at 21ft. I have a sound level meeter, that I used to verify the sound level. I found that at 21 ft the generator with no load is about 70db. Also the sound level varies greatly depending on what side your facing. The exhaust side being the loudest. Bottom line its quiet enough that I can't hear it from inside my house.

Power output... I load tested the generator, but I did note that out of the box the generator was pumping 122V which is fine, but a little hot at 62.5hz frequency. Should be 60hz, but should be acceptable for any item you want to run and as you load the generater the frequency drops to 60hz, and volts stay good and steady (perfect). I also notice the engine tone changes with load. Also the engine seems well isolated with rubber mounts. I hooked it up to my APC XS 1500LCD to measure its output, and it ran my plasma tv and hometheater just fine. In fact I was able to run an 8000BTU airconditioner, Refrigerator, hometheater (50" plasma with surround sound) all at the same time without issue. In fact the generator would only bog slightly when the A/C would kick on.

Out of the box my generator came shipped fine, no damage. The finish was in perfect shape. It was easy to assemble the wheel kit by setting the generator on top of the packing foam to raise it off the ground to attach the wheels. Like the solid never flat tires, and its easy to maneuver.

Adding oil is tricky, I ended up purchasing a funnel from walmart with a silicone tube hose connected to it to pour oil into the generator. You need one trust me, its not possible to add oil without a funnel. This funnel also had a nice feature of measuring oil ounces. BTW the manual isn't clear but you need to fill the oil level just to the point where it begins to run out the oil port when on level ground.

Starting was fairly easy. The engine started on my third try, not too unusual for a new item. The manual is poorly written but even considering its bad English readable enough for the average person to figure out. the manual seems complete with parts lists, and wiring diagrams. However it does not contain adjustment specs so its not good for a maintenance manual. Generator comes with 1 year warranty from eastern tools.

In terms of maintaining the generator through a power outage, this particular model needs frequent oil changes about every 10-50 hours depending on conditions. The spark plug is readily available at any auto parts place (walmart, nappa, homedepot). The air filter is a cleanable element so you don't have to worry about buying replacements. Overall it should be easy to maintain. Any engine work such as valve adjustment who knows....

Overall I think this is a great purchase for a small fuel efficient emergency generator. I should be ready for the next power outage!

This is just a short video of the generator running less than a minute after its first startup to give people an idea of the sound and frequency of the motor. It started on the first pull and settled into a steady run quickly as the choke was opened over the course of about 20 seconds.

Tool Force A-C3 High Pressure Spray Gun

Tool Force A-C3 High Pressure Spray Gun
  • High-pressure spray gun ideal for painting new work for covering up damaged repairs
  • Pistol grip and a trigger for comfortable operation
  • 1.8 millimeter nozzle
  • 1 liter cup and 1/4-inch nozzle
  • Requires a 2 to 3 HP compressor (not included)

I was pleasantly surprised upon opening the box and finding a very nicely made paint gun. Don't know how the Chinese can manufacture such a nice piece of equipment for that price, expecially considering that someone has to make a profit on it.

One drawback: The instruction manual was nearly useless. A couple of springs and some gaskets were included in the box but there was no indication whatsoever where they were to be used. No instruction on use of air and paint knobs...in fact, save the box to find labels for the various parts of the gun. No breakdown of parts for assembly or disassembly or ordering replacements, either. That lost a rating star.

Aside from that, I had 12 each 4'x8' wooden latices to paint, and chose an oil based paint. Don't know yet how it will work with latex, but I assume you don't need an additive for lubrication as you do with the airless guns when using latex. Didn't have any info on what viscosity was acceptable to the gun, or how to measure it, so just poured the paint in out of the can. Hooked up to my compressor and started to spray. Worked like a charm. I fiddled a bit with the air and paint knobs but couldn't tell any difference and didn't want to get away from what was working. Used about 7/8 gallon of paint to finish all 12 pieces in about two or three hours of spraying. I'm sure I'd have run out of paint and patience using a brush or roller for the job.

Used mineral spirits and a rag to clean the sprayer. One thing to be sure to check is the two holes in the side of the front piece that eject only air to control the shape of the spray. Used a small brad to clean them and then worked with mineral spirits a bit more.

I'm now sold on this kind of painting. Beats heck out of buying spray cans for such projects. I've already got another project in mind: painting several rocking chairs on the front porch.

One caution: Be sure to use breathing protection and a face mask for eye protection.

I have been using paint spraying equipment for over 40 years.

This is a good cheap high pressure 50-70 gun. It shoots well at 40psi, and I would personally never go over 50 which is guns minimum. If you have to go to 70, your paint/reducer mix is probably to thick. A good rule of thumb is that the paint after reducing should be just between a drip and a run, but closer to a drip when viewing it off of the funnel screen (You are using a funnel screen, aren't you?) or test stick.

The so-called no drip function sometimes drips.

The body is painted and it is effected by thinners.

The locking mechanism is iffy and you need to take care when you have a full pot in order not

to think it is locked down and you spill the whole frigging thing all over yourself and the floor and whatever else gets in the way. (Been there, done that)

To the gent that could not figure out the controls, the top one is fan/air adjust, the bottom one is fluid adjust, and if you want to control the air intake of most guns you need to add a small gauge/control valve or a simple screw valve (PH5516 is what I use) before the separator, or just rely on the compressor valve.

A word to the wise, at 70psi, you will be using 9cfm consumption which will put a small compressor through its paces and because it is constantly going will add a lot of water to the system. You should always spray at the minimum pressure required for the job.

This is a good gun, but not a $300.00 Devilbiss.

Take the time to clean it out with the same reducer you used for the paint (Two gallons of reducer for one gallon of paint; one to thin, one to clean up) and to the point that

it comes out clear, and use a small brush to flush down the nozzle and cup areas (sometime soaking all the nozzle parts) and the gun should last for many years.

I bought this gun a couple of weeks ago to paint an old jon boat. It did a GREAT job, considering what I paid for it. I used very thick marine paint, and it shot it on with no problems. I have an old crappy compressor and it still did a good job. Paint was even and did not clog up or cause sags.

If you are thinking about it, and are scared by the price, don't be. It is worth every penny you pay for it. You can find pictures of the paint job on my boat @ in the forum section under duck boats.

Oh my gosh, this is a fantastic add to anyone's tool box. I have toyed with the idea of getting one of these type sprayers for months, possibly years. Just never really knew quite how to use it or what I would use it on even though I have used many paints and painting equipment on many projects....Finally I decided I would get this sprayer..it was cheap and got decent if not great reviews...Well I would like to continue the great reviews. This product is light weight but solid feeling. Well built. Comes ready to uee. Easy to clean. Simple in application, just fill the container, set it, seal it (which will make sense to you after you actually see it) and hook it up to your compressor and go. As some of the other reviews say, it takes a bit to get used to the paint volume and air adjustment, but just fool with it and test it out on something and go to town. It never oversprayed and caused the project to run, had great coverage and very paint efficient. I had used a cordless Graco model that not only wnet thru paint fast, but was 20 times the cost and eventually broke after about 5 hours. Lesson learned. This unit does come with a few extra parts and as other reviews say the manual is not very cleear on usage or where these parts will go if needed eventually, but for the price I am not too worried about that....and I do not feel this unit will need any fixing as it feels very well put together. i only have one complaint...i wish I had purchased this a long time ago!!!!!

Bought to paint a fence, but found it exceeds my original expectaion.

Prop: Solid built, drop to garage floor many times, still works fine. Paint spray is fine and good.

Cons: only thing I found is manual not detail for the first time users.

Best value.

Amico Air Compressor Fittings Metal 1/2"PT Threaded Oil Sight Glass

Amico Air Compressor Fittings Metal 1/2'PT Threaded Oil Sight Glass
  • Product Name : Oil Level Sight Glass;Material : Metal, Glass
  • Color : Clear, Black, Red, Silver Tone;Thread Size : 1/2"PT
  • Overall Size : 26 x 15mm/ 1" x 0.6" (D*T)
  • Net Weight : 15g
  • Package Content : 1 x Oil Level Sight Glass

I bought this sight glass to fit into my compressor to monitor oil levels. When I received the plastic window I noticed right away it was not going to fit. I was under the assumption it was 1/2" NPT or MPT. Not sure what thread this thing is(BSPT interchangeable?) but it sure is not American standard pipe thread. The whole thing was made of plastic but would have got the job done had it fit. It was much closer to 3/4" NPT but did not fit that either. Three stars for cheap construction with no reductions for me buying the wrong thing. The item is not worth sending back so it will be used for target practice.

Frigidaire FRA12EPT1 12,000 BTU Portable Heat/Cool Air Conditioner with Remote Control

Frigidaire FRA12EPT1 12,000 BTU Portable Heat/Cool Air Conditioner with Remote ControlBe very careful not to tilt unit when transporting it if tilted it MUST sit for at least two hours before starting it. This unit has worked well continuously for two weeks. I put it on a sill-height table so that the water would drain well and the exhaust tube would be straight. My only complaints are:

1. The fan never goes off no matter what setting it is on (the compressor does go off, but not the fan).

2. When cooling, a lot of heat is generated in the exhaust hose an insulation sleeve would be nice.

3. The drain tube is way too short.

The machine was fairly easy to set up, and it does cool the room reasonably well, but I was expecting a heat pump....not so----according to the documentation received with the machine, there is an auxiliary heater, NOT a heat pump. We will see how well this heater works this winter. One other thing....the fan runs continuously, it does not shut off when the compressor kicks off, and it is fairly noisy.

My ancient apartment has almost no ventilation throughout and is always ten to fifteen degrees hotter than outside. Those crazy summer heatwaves sometimes get my room into the high 90s and as high as 105-110! It is unbearable. I could no longer take the sleepless nights in the heat and picked up one of these units. I had to "ghetto rig" the exhaust hose up to the crank out style window using a ton of cardboard and duct tape. I have it sitting on a metal computer desk that is level with the window sill.

Pros:

-Will drop the temp of the room around ten-fifteen degrees and keep it there. While not as great a window mounted unit, I'll gladly take 85 degrees over 95. The best performance I've seen so far is walking into my room @ 85 degrees and eventually getting it down to 70 (took 6 hours of continuous use).

-Remote.

-Timer so you don't end up running it all night.

-Not as loud as I was expecting it.

Cons:

-Produces a ton of water via the drain. It took no time to fill up a five gallon bucket.

-Air blows straight up. I had to rig a piece of cardboard to deflect the cold air into the rest of the room instead of straight into the ceiling and back towards the hot exhaust tube.

-The exhaust hose always comes loose from the unit

-Exhaust hose is not as flexible as I was hoping.

A quick tip I'd like to provide is sealing up all the doors and windows leading into the room you have the unit working in. The edges around my door have huge gaps that let in tons of hot air from the rest of the apartment. Some foam sealant tape and a door sweep helped with those problems and contribute to keeping the room cool.

This unit has kept my kitchen down to 77 with its thermostat set on 72 during the summer's first 90-plus days here. Not bad, since I knew I was buying a portable (and therefore less efficient) A/C instead of a window or through-the-wall unit.

The salesman told me it had an internal bucket to collect the water, and that it would shut off automatically when full. He said it didn't have automatic evaporation of the moisture created by cooling and dehumidifying, which is common in modern portable A/C units, but I was fine with having an internal bucket and automatic shutoff. Just like the various dehumidifiers I've owned. However, after I'd paid a separate contractor to bring this very heavy unit to my home (the appliance store considered it "cash and carry" and therefore ineligible for their usual delivery service), I found out that it has no internal bucket. The owner has to attach a garden hose and use an external bucket, which will merrily overflow if the unit is left running with no one at home to empty that bucket as needed. Since the drain hose plug is lower than most windows, putting the hose out the window and letting it drain outside isn't practical unless the A/C unit can be raised off the floor.

The air exhaust hose does just love to come loose, and duct tape is the answer. Also, you'll need to either take the whole hose assembly out of the window so you can shut the window against heavy, wind-driven rain; or you'll need to rig some sort of outside cover for the hose, because that hose leads down into the machine and it's just begging to funnel rain inside.

Overall this unit meets my needs, but it wouldn't if I had hoped to leave it running while away from home for long periods of time. I have no idea why Frigidaire thinks an external drip bucket is a great idea, or why they can't come up with a better air exhaust hose design. From a major brand name, in an expensive machine, I expected better.

I manage a large veterinary referral and emergency center, and our HVAC system doesn't provide sufficient cooling for our surgery suites, which have large windows. On hot summer days, the intense surgical lights, staff, and equipment raise the room temp by up to 10 degrees. Not a good environment for surgery, to say the least. Purchased this unit. It was very simple to unpack, install (vent) and operate. Our staff is very happy with it, as it cools the room very nicely. Intense cold, simple controls, sleek design. I was apprehensive about this purchase, but I'm very glad I chose this unit. Highly recommend.

Ramsond CRN-45 7/8-Inch to 1-3/4-Inch Nails Coil Air Roofing Nailer

Ramsond CRN-45 7/8-Inch to 1-3/4-Inch Nails Coil Air Roofing Nailer
  • Operates with a 60 to 110 psi standard air compressor; equipped with a standard male 1/4-inch 18 NPT air inlet
  • Fastener type: 11-gauge nail (3/4 inch to 1-3/4 inches); Nail capacity: 120
  • Trigger-actuated mechanism automatically positions and drives nails
  • Minimum operating pressure: 60 PSI; maximum operating pressure: 110 PSI
  • Composite gaskets, seals and rings with Ergo-Grip cushioned comfort

I own and use just about every kind and brand of air nailer for a remodeling business. This roofing nailer ranks with the brand name tools at half the price. I installed asphalt shingles for 3 days without encountering a single jam. It comes with quality plastic case and adequate instructions.

First off, the shipping was super fast. I ordered it on Sunday and got it on Thursday, from Michigan to Oklahoma. Not bad for standard ground shipping. The instructions were very easy to understand and follow. The nailer itself seems to be pretty good quality for a Chinese import. The gun has a nice paint job with the logos being stickers. (note to Ramsond, get your manufacturer to paint the logo on) After loading some nails and putting a few drops of oil into the air inlet, I set the trigger to "bump" mode and tested it out. After playing "machine gun" on a 2X4 for a while, not one misfire and all of the nails were driven at a consistent depth.

Update: I used this nailer on a roof job. Worked fine. Then later I pulled it out again to nail down tile backer. First off I noticed that the bump fire selector wasn't there anymore. Don't know when it broke off. It seemed to work fine though, until I pulled the trigger and a nail shot out. Without the nose being pushed in. Pretty dangerous.

If I had to do it over again, I would wait until the Harbor Freight nailer came on sale then printed out a 20% off coupon. (do a search, they always have them)

Had a roofing job coming up so I read reviews and ordered the nailer for 2nd day delivery. Arrived on time in good shape. We got 2 squares of shingles down and the nailer shot a nail right through the feed ramp rendering the tool useless. Finished the job (27 square)with a Bostich RN46-1.

I was hesitant to buy this at first since this is not a well-known brand like Dewalt. But with good reviews online for other Ramsond products, and a price below even well-used older nailers on Craigslist, it was worth a try.

I have now completed an entire roof installation using this nailgun. It works perfectly no jams, no misfires, easy loading, feels great in the hand, and perhaps even a bit quieter than the other roofing guns I have used (Dewalt, Porter Cable, Bostitch and Hitachi). Mechanically it looks almost identical to these other guns, right down to the rivets.

I am a house builder by trade, and I will definitely be looking at the other Ramsond tools as I need replacements over time.

UPDATE: Three years later, I still use this machine as my sole roofing nailer. I've lent it out to other builders, and reshingled an additional 5 roofs with my own hands. It continues to kick butt, making me feel pretty smart for choosing this one over a Dewalt at 2-3x the price!
