Yes , there is a problem with driving 1 3/16" pins but Bostitch will send you an easy fix, a new driver/piston. I am surprised that no one called them and posted this . I always contact the manufacturer with any issues first, some are very helpful and others are not. Great CS from them, as I always have had from them, and an other wise very well made compact driver now will work just fine. As far as using 2"pins, they are too long for this gauge in real wood[18 ga.2"brads is even pushing it] ;they bend easily and can "blowout" of the wood[follow the grain] when using to be really useful anyway but the 1 3/16" is perfect for shoe base mld. for flooring installs and no filler is really needed. 1" pin guns limits the usefulness as other brands have as their longest length. 4 stars for the tool as is, and add 1 star for Bostitch being there to fix their problem making the gun excellent now.

Just returned mine and ordered a Grex 635 instead. I fired about 40 pins in hard and soft wood, tried various compressor pressure settings, and various settings of the so-called "depth control." The gun jammed once. If the air pressure is at the low end of the recommended range (70-100 lbs.), or if the so-called "depth control" is set low, pins will usually be proud of the surface. With the proper adjustments the best you can do is get them to be flush, which is unacceptable as far as I'm concerned. According to Bostitch Customer Service, this pin nailer is not designed to countersink pins, but rather to leave them flush with the service. The "depth control" is a misleading name for what is really just another way of adjusting air pressure. It does NOT change the travel distance of the pin.

shot up many a clip of pins over the past week on a kitchen with cherry cabinets and trim. guns of this ilk are absolutely invaluable in delicate/intricate hardwood production work, from temporary jigging to glue up clamping to achieving the perfect miter. but this gun drove me up the wall and forced the guy coming behind me with the markers and putty to take his artistry to a new level. almost every pin stood proud, long grain shots and end grain. if it wasn't proud there was the slightest dent from the gun nose and the pin was still didn't countersink. when trimming in standard fjp this gun is a godsend, but for hardwood work you had better invest in a microscopic nailset(alien technology, coming soon) if bostitch hasn't decided to include one in the case already

...to follow up, this pinner is but a continuing let down. production installation of hardwood is the name, having the pin hold the pieces is but half the game. the many, the proud. i have a quick learning curve, now i've got a grex.

I just received this nailer about a week ago and have put it to work everyday. The first time I used it I noticed it would only drive the pins flush which makes the tool useless. The pins wouldn't even countersink in pine. I decided to grind the tip down a little hoping that it would allow the driver to make the pin go well below the wood. I'm sure Stanley wouldn't recommend this, but it did the job and now my pins go just the right depth in any wood that I use it on. Besides this minor problem everything else is perfect with tool including the case.

I was excited to purchase this nailer based on its ability to drive pins in excess of 1 inch. When it arrived I was pleased with the construction of the unit, very well made in the true Bostitch tradition. Upon immediately firing up my compressor to see what the unit will do, I was disappointed to see that it had a problem driving the 1 3/16 inch pins all the way into hardwood, in this case red oak. I tried different settings and even with the PSI set to max the pins would not countersink. I had to use a nail punch to finish the job, which is counter intuitive to why you would use a pin nailer to begin with. Other than that the nailer performs flawlessly, never jamming, etc. And by the way, the 1 3/6 pins are tough to come by. I have not seen them in any of my local home improvement or hardware stores. They are available through Amazon however, so you can stock up there.

Just finished laying 42 sq with this gun, and I have nothing but praise. Well balanced and one of the lightest guns I have ever used. In 42 sq, one jam and about dozen nails left proud. Standard home store nails work very well in this gun and are easy and cheap to find. The tool-less depth of drive works just fine and the side-loading feature is great, very fast and easy. When it is out of nails, you know it, it will stop firing.

Yes, this is a contact "bump" nailer, and if you are getting double and triple misfires, you are using this gun WRONG. If you are laying shingles all day long and you have to pull the trigger on every nail, your finger will fall off. Put your shingle down, pull the trigger, and shoot four nails, next. That is the beauty of a contact nailer. On that note, BE CAREFULL, after a long run out, your finger has a tendency to stay on the trigger, if you were to then bump any part of your body at this point, you too will get nailed.

The Cons: Superficial really, come on Bostitch (and other mfg's), Give us a cheap plastic molded case for our expensive tools and would it have been so hard to have installed an air nipple at the factory, save me a trip to the hardware store.

I purchased the nail gun about three weeks ago. I am a foreman on a flat roofing crew who shingles on the weekends and on a few jobs that shingles are required. Last weekend I used the gun to shingle a 18sq ranch and was very enthused about how the gun ran. The gun never skipped, misfired, or jammed. I then took it to work to finish a shingle job on a 62sq roof. I dont like to use my own personal equipment on company time, but the way that the gun performed I knew that it would make the job that much easier. The light weight of the gun made the accuracy phenomenal and effortlessly quick. I had one jam while doing the ridge vent, which was easily fixed in 5 sec. The gun never had any other problem. My boss has 5-6 Hitachi roofing guns and I always thought they worked fine; didn't have to pound down hardly any nails. Then for a side job, part of my compensation was a new roofing nailer. In asking around everyone said to either go with Hitachi or Bostitch. Having already been using the Hitachi's I decided to try the Bostitch. What an awesome roofing nailer!! Blows the Hitachi's away. The single door side load canister is far easier and faster to load than the Hitachi's 2-door canister (side load for the nail feed, bottom load for the coil). Also I work in Minnesota and when the temp dropped to single digits every one of the Hitachi's started dry firing constantly and I ended up going and grabbing the Bostitch, which hasn't dry fired once (I would rather not have to use my own tools on my employers jobs, but the Hitachi's are junk in cold weatherthey work fine when the weather is warmer)

I looked at this gun based on the journal of light constuction reviews I read july 06 issue. They liked the last nail capture feature and I must admit that this was my only complaint with my porter cable gun. So I bought one localy (same price as amazon with a case so it made up for the tax) and have done 3 roofs of about 20 squares each and really like it. I have seen lots of fusing on here about this and that but I muat say that if a tool was giving me this much fuse I would bring it in and see what the repair shop says. When I have had problems in the past our local reapir shop was able to get us a new gun, drill, or exstend our warranty with factory approval. I guess the second question is how much do you beat on your tools?...I tether not only my ladders and my self but my espensive tools too....nothing screws with a gun more than a three story drop. Well enough rambling...for the money an excellent gun...I still use my porter cable for a spare gun when we have an extra guy on the roof so I can't really bad mouth them...but if your banging out 5 or 6 squares a day by yourself 30 plus coils with our 12 pitch roof you appreciate the nail capture, easy load, and weight of this gun.

update: after a year this gun needed a rebuild because the nailes stopped advancing...and we bought the new portable cable while waiting for it to came back from the shop...we still prefer the Bos for its features but I will say the porter cables are more durable ....

I rented this gun prior to buying to make sure I wanted it. The rental unit worked great. Sure I had to set one or two nails manually and had at least one jam in every coil ... but isn't that the norm? So I purchased this gun from a local hardware store. What a mistake! The Bostich I bought (RN46-1) jammed every 10th nail and I had to set one too many manually. It took a 20 hour job and turned it into a 40 hour job. Needless to say when I returned the gun the first comment I got was, "Well you need to use Bostich nails." What? Are you kidding me? So I took my refund money, came here to Amazon and got the Hitachi NV45AB2, used the same box of coil nails and went to town on a roofing job. 20 coils later and I have yet to jam or manually set any of the nails. Do yourself a favor, stay away from the Bostich.

what can i say, its an airhose, doesnt leak, its flexible, and im sure it will be even when it gets cold. (as advertised) I lose hardly any pressure due to the larger size even with 2 hoses connected (100') I do recommend getting a smaller six foot whip to connect to your tools and a hose roller upper.

This hose is great, heavy duty and the ends are crimped on very well. The hose end protectors are a great feature and protects the hose and what ever it comes into contact with. The hose seems to be made to last a long time. We use three of these in a mining equipment shop on hose reels and then have been working well for 6+ months.

Yo pude calibrar 8 vacuometro en tiempo récord . Su mayor fortaleza es que puedes pasar de presiones negativas a presiones positivas , tan solo moviendo el pasado, sin la necesidad de hacer ningún cambios de conexión .esto ahorra un tiempo considerable a la hora de calibrar instrumentos de presión absolutas . El vacío máximo que e logrado alcanzar es 26,5 inHg.

Debo agregar un segundo comentario : la bomba funciona muy bien desde -26 inHg hasta los 100 psi, para más de 100 psi es extremadamente dura para accionar la con una sola mano. Sólo llegue 290 psi haciendo un gran esfuerzo con las 2 manos . Conclusión no la recomiendo para presiones mayores de 100 psi . Aunque las especificaciones técnicas dice hasta 600 psi , realmente no es así.

It really is very good, for field use, calibration of pressure gauges and pressure transmitters, you can go from vacuum to positive pressure, just by pressing the pin, excellent pumping capacity per drive. I could calibrate eight vacuum gauge in record time. Its greatest strength is that you can go from negative to positive pressures pressures, just moving the past, without the need to make any connection changes. This saves considerable time when absolute pressure gauge instruments. The maximum vacuum is achieved and 26.5 inHg.

I must add a second point: the pump works great from -26 inHg to 100 psi, for more than 100 psi is extremely hard to trigger with one hand. Only reaches 290 psi working hard with 2 hands. Conclusion not recommend for pressures greater than 100 psi. Although specs say up to 600 psi, it really is not

What can I say. It's a rubber air hose that seems to be of top quality. I live in Syracuse NY where is get's cold as hell and the hose doesn't seem to suffer from getting two stiff like no rubber hoses do.
