5 HP SPL 3450rpm P56 Frame 230 Volts Replacement Air Compressor Motor - AO Smith Electric Motor # B3

5 HP SPL 3450rpm P56 Frame 230 Volts Replacement Air Compressor Motor - AO Smith Electric Motor # B3
  • 230 volts 15.0 amps 60hz
  • Open Drip Proof - Ball Bearings - Service Factor 1.0
  • Non-Reversible - CCW Rotation facing the shaft
  • NEMA 56 Frame - Flat Rigid base mount
  • Shaft: 5/8" diameter x 1 7/8"

Shipment of motor from provider was very prompt.

Motor was an exact model current production replacement for the origional one on my compressor.

You have to be sure of your motor rotation and the replacement motor rotation, frame type and shaft size etc.

The price was the best I could find anywhere for a good quality non-chinese motor.

I had the origional motor for more than 10 years of regular use before failure and then installed a chinese one and it lasted only a coulple of years of light use.

The new motor seems fine, starts good runs cool) but I have only used it for a month. Be sure YOUR BREAKER IS NEW and JUST the next size above current rating of motor. The WIRING and OUTLET sized for 50 percent more than breaker rating.)This gives you FAST STARTING, COOL RUNNING and quick breaker protection in case of voltage drops or spikes!!!!!!!

I AM VERY SATISFIED AT THIS TIME.!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I burned up the 5 horsepower motor on my compressor after about 15 years of use due to normal wear. I purchased this motor as a replacement. The motor bolted right into place and all electrical connections wear easily made up. The motor works great and I suspect is good for another 15 or 20 years.

5 Horse Power looks like its there. Not too sure about the ball bearing the instruction states its got sleeve bearing. So I'm confused a bit now. Other than that the motor is great.

After only about 5 years, my Ingersoll Rand SS3-E's motor stopped working. The motor was diagnosed by the local repair shop as having an internal short. They tried to repair it ant totally botched it up. In any case, this motor was procured and not only is it a little bit smaller physically than the original motor but it also seems to be more powerful. In any case, it's been installed for about 5 months and works perfectly.

The first one of these motors arrived on time but failed in the first 5 mins of operation. The supplier listened, apologized, explained how it was rare but possible for a new motor to fail, and then promptly shipped a new one (at their cost) immediately. Although this motor does not work more than a few minutes per week in my application, the new motor works fine so far.

Because I completely trust and rely upon Amazon, and consequently Amazon's outside suppliers, they were the first place I went to buy what is a fair size purchase of an item that I would not typically purchase online. I am a faithful very happy Amazon customer.

TEKTON 4755 Oil/Water Separator

TEKTON 4755 Oil/Water Separator
  • Eliminates water buildup in air line
  • Traps water vapor to maximize air tool performance and extend tool life
  • Traps water and oil for a clean air spray job
  • Installs easily between air tool and line
  • Maximum air pressure: 150 psi

This filter does the job perfectly if you use it in the correct manner. A lot of people here are just using it wrong.

A. This is not a replacement for a larger "main" in-line water/oil separator. IE a 1/2, or 3/8 filter like;

http://www.amazon.com/Ingersoll-P39344-600-VS-2-Inch-Filter-Regulator-Piggyback/dp/B0057D8MCI/ref=pd_cp_hi_1

This unit is meant to be used at the input end of a paint spray gun, hence the low pressure. It not intended to run at 90+ PSI for something like an impact wrench or air hammer.

B. You can't hang this (or any water separator) right off your compressor and expect it to fill up with water. You need to provide room for the compressed air to condense the water out. IE 30+ feet of hose or pipe. I guarantee you if you don't see water after heavy use of your compressor move it to the end of a 50 foot hose and you will be draining it like a colonic bag!

C. Yes it's plastic. Would you rather have glass that would explode like a grenade the first time you drop it on the shop floor with it cranked up to 120psi?

D. The drain is on the bottom for a reason. See point A, its meant to be used while mounted at the end of a tool like a sprayer that remains upright. Not mounted on a hose that will lay on the floor.

I have mine at my spray gun behind 60 feet of plumbing and 2 other larger dedicated 3/8" water separators and it still collects a lot of water.

I wasn't sure if it will really work since it's not that expensive.... But it does!

I was spraying some paint and getting bubbles, so I got it for not-so-expensive investiment. Well, it worked and no bubble after that. I'm not the professional painter by any means but it works just fine for my need!!

I am using this unit inline with an HVLP spray gun on a large 60 gallon compressor. I do have compressor water filters at the compressor but wanted to be sure none got through to mar my spraying. This unit is small, and glass but the glass is very, very thick. I think you'd have to hit it with a hammer to break it. A small push pin in the bottom side of it releases any water collected.

Simple design and durable. It does the job.

Campbell Hausfeld HV2500 58 CFM Fine Finish HVLP Paint Sprayer

Campbell Hausfeld HV2500 58 CFM Fine Finish HVLP Paint Sprayer
  • HVLP fine finish paint sprayer with 2-stage tangential turbine and 2 air filters
  • Sprays light, medium, heavy-stains, varnishes, oil-based paint, and latex
  • Durable metal body, plastic hose
  • Includes spray gun, 25-foot hose, 2 needle/nozzle sets, wrench, viscosity stick, strainers, cleaning brush
  • 12-1/2 by 22-1/2 by 12-1/2 inches; 32 pounds; 3-year limited warranty

I've had this unit for a couple of years now...and in short it's priced fairly. Not too great but not too bad. It got me started with HVLP. It just does not have enough power for shooting any thick (even kinda thick) finish. If you just want to shoot waterborne poly it works fine.

I wanted to shoot paint and oil based poly. For paint, forget it. Even with the heavy needle it just shoots splatter. For oil based poly it can't shoot a smooth even finish. With the heavy needle in it you get orange peel.

It was a good intro machine for me, but I ended up going for the top end

Accuspray on the second go round. Triple the price but you get professional results (why waste your time spraying if you get sub-par results?) and 3M's PPS which makes clean up a breeze. You know it's hard to justify the price for an expensive unit but think how many hours you have into your project. Why risk an average finish on it.

I have tried HVLP conversion guns in the past...Well, cheapy ones and was left dissapointed. A bathroom project that consisted of spraying a significant amount of Urethane and a bathtub with Acrylic polyurethane was on my list so I needed an HVLP and decided I wanted a turbine. Not wanting to invest alot of money I did a tremendous amount of research and decided on the HV2500. Although it is only a 2 stage unit I was satisfied with the specs and decided to give it a try. This unit comes with a fine and general fluid set. For an affordable $15 I bought a thick coatings fluid set should I attempt latex.

I used the Fine fluid set for the clear urethane which came out fantastic with great atomization and no runs. For the white Acrylic Polyurethane on the bathtub I used the general fluid set with satisfactory results. I got some orange peel but I blame that more on lack of experience than I do the HVLP itself. I need more practice spraying and getting the settings just right. The gun is reasonably easy to clean and should last a while so long as your not using this commercially. The unit comes with a 25' hose which is great to afford you the ability to keep the unit far away from the spraying vacinity and since they sound like vacuum cleaners the farther away the noise the better.

Overall if your looking for a decent HVLP with good parts availability at a really good price, give the HV2500 a try. It may suprise you.

Bought the CH HV2500 to paint all the cabinets in my house. Had never used a sprayer before. Took me six days to prepare the cabinets (remove hardware, wash, sand, prime, tape off face etc), and only about three hours to spray the whole job, 62 cabinets. I sprayed acrylic latex. The hardest part was in getting this thick paint thinned down to the correct viscosity. I also used Floetrol to help the latex lay flat. Once I discovered the correct mix, the CH HV2500 put on a mirror-like finish. I am very happy with this product.

we've been waiting to purchase an hvlp sprayer and have been experimenting with much more pricey outfits (1,000-2,000)We were in a pinch and decided to buy this outfit because we needed one asap. we figured it would hold us over till we could get one of the outfits we had been looking at purchasing. what a surprise! this is a great hvlp. we've used it numerous times now. no hassle to set up. no hassle to use. no hassle to clean. the hose is great for getting behind larger pieces and the spray flow is perfect to use with lacquer or poly. (although the 2 stage won't accomodate paint) we are so happy with it that we are going to stick with this one!

It takes practice to achieve great results to this system. The manual is very poor. I would not consider purchasing a cheaper system.

I'm spraying latex which needs to be thinned with water to look like chocolate milk. I also add Flotrol to help level out the finish. Don't expect to be spraying like an expert on your first try. However, after my third or fourth attempt I was happy. I'm assuming the finish will only improve as I get familiar with thinning paint and using the system.

The finish looks great but the application of paint seems to take forever. It does beat using brushes and/or rollers. There is hardly any overspray. I'm using it to spray custom cabinets/tables, etc.

...no one said finishing would be easy...this just makes it a little easier...

Stanley Bostitch PN50 Mini Impact Nailer

Stanley Bostitch PN50 Mini Impact Nailer
  • Rubber grip designed to insulate and reduce vibration
  • Weighs only 1 lb.
  • 360° swivel air fitting for maximum accessibility
  • Front exhaust directs air away from users palm
  • Drives most common bulk finish, framing & timber nails

I giggled the first time I used this, it drives nails with such ease as if the wood was butter.

It's great for metal fasteners and tight spaces, it gets into all the small corners where neither a full size nail gun nor a hammer would fit.

The small size is a perfect fit for my (large) hand, and squeezes into smaller places than the larger model palm nailer.

The magnet holds the nails well so you can drive them with one hand, just press and the nail is quickly hammered (vibrated?) into place.

You can stop early and leave the nail head up if you're just tacking things, or come back later and finish the nail flush.

This is another product that I give 5 stars, not because it is the best on the market (not industrial quality) but is a good deal for the low price. I had a project where I needed to drive 240 nails in tight, overhead areas could have done it with a hammer but my wrist and shoulder hurt just thinking about the prospect.

Had this puppy in a couple days with Amazon Prime, quickly reviewed the instructions and 45 minutes later had the job done didn't even break a sweat.

Will probably submit a video of this in action because you have to see it to believe how easy it makes a job like this.

One word of caution, read the instructions about how to insert the nails. It's pretty easy to accidentally "fire" this thing if you are not focused every time you load a nail and I imagine even a preacher would have some choice words if it fired with his/her finger over the nail point.

Read Best Reviews of Stanley Bostitch PN50 Mini Impact Nailer Here

I was very impressed with both the size and the power. Was able to sink a 3.5" spiral shanked nail with ease. The only disappointment is that the nail opening is rather narrow. The majority of common framing nails will fit, but if you try something with a bit larger head, it won't. Forget Roofing nails! This is the only palm nailer I've used, so I don't know how the opening compares to other brands/models. The speed of this nailer does not come close to a good nail gun, and the fatigue factor will be a lot higher. So it's great tool for tight places, and small to moderate volumes of nails, but if you are doing a large project, you might want to consider a stick nailer (preferable in addition to this nailer).

This thing is too fine! When a hammer or nail gun won't get to the nail, this will. I just used it to install an electric box in an 8" stud space in a corner with a wall that prevented any kind of hammer or even a screwdriver from working. It's simply amazing. All of this comes from a guy who has been doing this kind of work for 40 years and who owns a gas powered nail gun, air powered nail guns and all kinds of hammers.

You may not use this baby every day but when you do have a need, nothing else will get the job done.

Did I mention that it's very ergonomic in its shape?

This is a perfect little nailer that does the job with any size nail. I've shot joist hanger nails up to 16d common any they go in very fast.I am extremely pleased with this nailer.

Klimaire 9,000 Btu 19 SEER, Energy Satar, Ductless Mini Split Inverter Air Conditioner & Heat Pump,

Klimaire 9,000 Btu 19 SEER, Energy Satar, Ductless Mini Split Inverter Air Conditioner & Heat Pump, 220 volt, Ion Generator Air Purifying System, Active Carbon Filter, Evaporator Self Cleaning Function, Follow me Comfort Function on Remote Control + Free 16 ft Installation Kit.I recently built a new backyard workshop and needed an A/C unit for the Texas heat. I could have just put in a window unit; but, I wanted something that was more efficient, quieter, and that didn't block my single window.

After some research, I opted to go with this Klimaire unit since it had the features I was looking for and is also geared more toward installing it yourself than the competing models are.

Anyway, here are the things I like about the Klimaire Mini-Split:

1) It really was pretty easy to install. I'll talk about this more in a bit; but, there are several videos online and the unit comes with pretty much everything you need.

2) It has A/C, Heat, dehumidifier, and fan settings. That covers pretty much anything I could want.

3) It is EXTREMELY quiet! Both the inside and outside units are barely audible, which makes it a lot more enjoyable.

4) The remote can be mounted to a wall and works great.

5) It is very efficient at 19 SEER. This shouldn't cost much to run at all.

6) It looks great and is very simple to operate.

Even though I am loving the unit overall, there is one irritating problem that I've run into. When the unit is on A/C mode, the fan will switch between levels 1, 2, & 3 it never turns completely off. That makes me feel bad leaving it on when I'm not out there (the building is extremely well insulated using foam). The dehumidifier setting does the same thing.

Fortunately, the Auto mode lets the fan turn completely off; but, it tries to keep the temperature in the room at an 'exact' level. So, in the summer, if you have the unit set at 78 degrees, it will run the A/C until the building cools down and can actually switch to the heater if the temp goes just a little low. It's crazy to be wasting energy running the heater in the Texas heat! The auto mode would be MUCH better if it would focus on a range rather than an exact temp. For example, if the A/C would turn on when the temp gets above 78, but the heater turns on when the temp gets below 65.

Anyway, that's something I can live with but it's still irritating.

As far as the install goes, the hardest part was running the electrical out to the building in the first place. I'd never done anything with 220 volt before, so it was a learning experience and took me a couple of days. Although, to be fair, I had to run electrical out there anyway. This unit requires a 220 volt, 30-Amp power supply.

Once the power was connected from my new sub-panel to the A/C disconnect, I basically followed these steps:

1) Put a couple of 18"x18" concrete pavers where I wanted the exterior unit and bolted it down.

2) Mounted the bracket for the interior unit to the wall.

3) Drilled a 3" hole in the wall where I wanted the pipes to go through. NOTE: The instructions call for a 3" hole, but I actually wish I had gone a bit smaller. Be sure to look at the conduit they provide for going through the wall, since that is actually closer to 2". I ended up filling around the conduit with Great Stuff gap filler.

4) Wired the provided electrical cable to the inside unit.

5) Ran both copper pipes, the drain pipe, and the electrical wire out of the building through the hole that was drilled in step #3.

6) Hooked everything up to the exterior unit.

7) Wired the exterior unit to the A/C disconnect using wire that I had leftover from wiring the building. I ran the wire through some 1/2" LiquidTite flexible conduit that I also had leftover, and that I had purchased from Home Depot.

8) I opened the lower valve and briefly pressed the discharge button on the upper valve 4 times to get the air out of the system. This process is shown on some of the online videos.)

9) At this point, I just wrapped up the pipes, made everything look good, and turned it on. :)

Overall, if you're looking for a highly efficient, and quiet A/C & heater solution this is a great choice! I would definitely recommend it, even with the irriating "Auto-Mode" issue.

Hey, Guys. I bought two units, the KSIM009-H219 and the KSIM018-H217. Research led me directly to the Klimaire distributor in Miami (I'm in Jacksonville) where they responded to my call for info. I bought directly from the dist where they cut me a break on the shipping for the two. Ordered on Thursday, they shipped on Monday SAIA freight and arrived in Jacksonville the next day where I picked them up at the terminal. Packaging was spot on, no issues.

Installed myself, but I'm no stranger to mechanical stuff. I think an installation of this sort for a newbie would be a challenge since there's so many disciplines involved. The biggest challenge is working with the supplied lineset and making sure you don't damage it or run short since you don't want to modify the length. Careful planning always pays off here. After the typical hookup, I vacuumed the lines for about two hours on both units, opened the liquid line a bit to charge the vacuumed lines and evap up to atmospheric pressure, opened both packing valves and buttoned everything up.

At this point checked for leaks with a leak detector solution and found I had leaks on three out of four connections. Some serious tightening solved those problems and I'd say that was the most surprising, it takes more than you'd think it would. I worked with a plumber for several years as a young pup and the answer to "how tight should this be?" was "till it stops leaking."

After flipping the breaker on the disconnects I started each system and have simply been amazed at how quiet and seemingly efficient these units are. I think you could run them both on power from a hamster in a wheel. Matter of fact, I did connect both of these units to my gen-set so we'll have cooling in those two rooms when the storm hits. Less than 4 amps on the small unit and 7 on the large unit. Amazing.

My thoughts on reviews. Anyone that is considering making a large purchase such as these will do some research and inevitably run across negative reviews and there are those here as well. But, any company that is putting forth the effort to bring items like this to market is not doing it to fail. Sure there are issues and problems that can and do arise, but that's from any company, with any product. More often than not problems stem from a language barrier, and this is where patience, compassion and persistence will help solve most problems. If you're looking for trouble, you'll probably find it. Those with a bad experience will rush to warn while those with a good experience will simply enjoy and move on so one needs to see all reviews in that context.

Of course most AC guys in the states hate messing with something they did not sell you, or something they are not familiar with. Most everyone is biased in one way or another. Knowing that and wanting to learn something new can make a project such as this rewarding if you do it yourself. Of course it's all at risk, and they'll be no shortage of people with a God complex to warn you of that fact.

All in all, I'd say that if you're a good car mechanic and know your way around the construction of a house and have an understanding of home wiring beyond the basics, you'll be happy.

Of course, mine could fail tomorrow.

Feel free to write me with any questions and I'll try to help.

All the best, Don

I, like one of the other reviewers installed it in a workshop that I built in Texas. I have installed central air in the past, but it has been quite a few years. The biggest issue that I had was that the directions could have been worded better. I recommend that if you choose to install it yourself, watch a few installation videos on-line. This helps clarify a few issues that I came across with their directions. They do not have to be the same brand to understand the concept. There is an LG split system video (tips and how to) on You-Tube.

I found a discrepancy in the breaker size in the directions and the outside unit. I went with the 20 amp breaker stated on the actual unit, not the generic directions.

I did have to go out and purchase a vacuum pump, a set of gauges and an adapter for the gauges to hook up to the 410a refrigerant line. This required adapter is not included. Some people choose not to do this step and just purge it. I can't see how the moisture can be eliminated from the line set by skipping this step.

I put a kink in the low pressure line and decided to cut the section out and silver solder it.

Buy a bottle of leak detector from Home Depot or Lowe's to check the fittings. I really had to tighten down on the factory flair fittings to eliminate two almost undetectable leaks (so tight that I was afraid of breaking the line).

I did not change the length of the line set during the installation. This way I did not have to add or eliminate any of the refrigerant.

So far it is working great.

I have not tried this product.

Before making a move for any product I want to see if they are real.

They do not list their address/phone/e-mail on their website. It is a mute point hiding that information from your customers these days. Here it is: 7909 NW 54th St, Doral, FL, (305) 593-8358 Sales extension 501. Support/Sales people never pick up: Nice classical music, put up a HiFi headset if you are interested in listening to that before calling. If you have only a cell phone do not waste expensive ether-bandwidth, put in a good classical DVD in your computer instead.

It is amazing how dump a company can be. They are sitting on gold mine with top of the line green product and they are screwing this up. I am mad at business people who screw up excellent engineering this way.

This product can only be sold with very strong support (it has bugs), and there is a market there that is tolerant to those problems as well as willing to pay higher price as you can see from the reviews.

If you live in Miami and feel like it, do visit their office and wake them up... Please.

AAA 65-Piece Winter Severe Weather Travel Kit

AAA 65-Piece Winter Severe Weather Travel Kit
  • Compact 65-piece road assistance kit for winter conditions by AAA and LifeLine First Aid
  • Includes folding shovel with sheath
  • Includes 3-piece fleece set
  • Includes strobe light
  • Includes a 46-piece first-aid kit

I ordered two of these kits in anticipation for another cold Minnesota winter. I received it within 2 days since I have Amazon Prime. I am pleased with the kit overall, but am disappointed as well.

The kit seems sufficient with plenty to get by if I were to be stranded somewhere in the middle of no where. There's stuff to keep me warm, safe, and to signal others as well. Everything seems to be of mediocre quality, which is good enough for me.

However, it is different from what is described.

1) No Matches! The set of matches in both sets were replaced with another cheap candle due to shipping restrictions. What good are my 4 candles without matches?

2) The flashlight is NOT a hand-charged dual LED flashlight. Instead it is an ordinary cheap flashlight with two AA batteries.

The waterproof matches and the hand-charged flashlight were definitely selling points, and I'm not so sure I would have bought this particular set if it I knew these pitfalls ahead of time. Nonetheless, I'll keep them to save myself the hassle since I'm still better with the kits than without them.

I am planning on adding a few items before I chuck it into my trunk. Some hard candy, extra socks, some baggies to keep my feet dry in case I need to trudge through some snow, a container to melt snow in, chapstick, a medium sized and durable container of cat litter, and finally my trusty jumper cables.

Buy AAA 65-Piece Winter Severe Weather Travel Kit Now

If you are a driver who travels in rough winter weather (or if you know and like such a driver), this is a perfect starter kit to put in the trunk before the first leaves fall. The AAA Winter Travel kit has put together a bunch of survival items that could make the difference between freezing to death or waiting for help in relative comfort. The kit is not 100% complete, no kit could be, but if you add the items that pertain to your personal situation, you will feel a lot better when driving those backwoods roads.

The most useful item, by far, is the enclosed "Emergency Car Care Guide," which has instructions and suggestions to get your car headed back to safety instead of being stranded at the side of a cold and stormy road. If the car cannot be started again easily, the Guide also contains suggestions on how to keep warm and safe while waiting for rescue. To help, there are emergency candles, a shovel to remove snow from around the car's tailpipe (keeps away that carbon monoxide), a flashlight and an emergency blanket. The blanket is made of thin, reflective plastic and would be better supplemented with a heavy woolen blanket, or even layers of newspaper in an emergency.

Another thing that the kit does not contain is food and water necessary to stay warm, comfortable and not hungry while waiting. I suggest always having a case package of water bottles (you need a lot more water than food, and three candles won't melt much snow) and some high calorie snack bars, which last a long time and will provide needed body heat in a winter emergency. Both items can be easily replaced and rotated as time passes, so that the items won't be old and stale when a real emergency occurs.

As a thoughtful starting point for your kit, this is great, but don't kid yourself 46 pieces of the 63 piece kit are the "first aid supplies" (mostly bandages) and "quality vinyl cover." You need more than this in a winter emergency. An hour's online research will give you a complete list, to which you need only add something to kill time. A novel from Amazon, perhaps? :-)

As other reviewers have said, the description and pictures are misleading! Unfortunately for me, these reviews didn't go up until after I put in my order! I am very upset. This is the first time I've ever bought something from Amazon and been so misled. And for those that may not have read the other reviews, there is no hand chargeable flashlight or waterproof matches. Matches were replaced by ONE candle due to alleged shipping restrictions. How am I supposed light any of the candles WITHOUT matches?! Also, it is now a 65-piece kit. I don't know how it compares to the 63-piece kit, but I doubt the 2 extra pieces are anything more significant than bandages. One final thing is that there is a August 2010 expiration date listed on the front of the bag. I haven't checked to see which item expires, but it probably refers to a minor first aid item.

Want AAA 65-Piece Winter Severe Weather Travel Kit Discount?

Useful item, misleading description. I actually used this last weekend when I unexpectedly had to put chains on my tires and was without a hat and mittens, so I am glad I had it. However, the item description lists "1 hand-charged dual LED flashlight" which is not the case. I got a normal, incandescent flashlight with two batteries. No LED, no hand-charge. Also, the item description lists "strobe light" which also appears to be absent, unless you repeatedly turn the flashlight on and off by yourself. Finally, no matches as the description says. Apparently shipping regulations restrict the shipping of matches.

These items really need to be fixed in the description.

I got one of the other AAA kit's and figured that the severe weather one would be a good addition considering I live in Chicago and every so often we have severe weather. I read the reviews and people raved about the little shovel...ummm why? Either I didn't get the same one they did or I got a defective one because I couldn't use it. Three people couldn't use it. I actually threw it out it was that much of a waste (the shovel not the kit).

Any of the other AAA car kits are just as good and have everything if not more that this one does.

THE DAMAGE THIS TIME WAS ON THE SIDE PLATE AND IT WAS BENT OVER JUST LIKE INSIDE THE BOX WHITNESS MARKS SHOWED. ANYWAY I HAD TO STRAIGHTEN THE BENT UP UNIT SO IT WOULD SPIN/REEL OUT AND RETRACT BACK IN WITHOUT BINDING UP.

IN CLOSING THE UNITS WORKS FINE NOW BUT REELCRAFT AND UPS HANDELING DEPARTMENTS NEED TO BE INFORMED.

THANKS IN ADVANCE.

Buy Reelcraft 5650 OLP 3/8-Inch by 50-Feet Spring Driven Hose Reel for Air/Water Now

This $230 Reelcraft hose reel isn't as user friendly as another manufacturer's reel of the same size that I own, which I will add was purchased at only a third the price. Surprising, the Reelcraft reel wobbles on the wall, and unfortunately, sometimes sticks when retracting the hose. This is a replacement to a defective Reelcraft that I originally purchased that had a plastic part that broke before it came out of the box, so I decided to move up to the "premium" model. This Reelcraft model only adjusts to two positions, but if only Reelcraft had drilled two extra holes in the reel mount, could have made this where it would adjust to a multitude of positions. FYI... both positions were not ideal for vertical mounting on the wall at my location, so I am not too happy with it but not terribly upset either. Base is narrow and could have used a couple more steel reinforcing ribs in the mounting frame, which likely would stop the wobble/bounce of the reel. Anyway, I decided to keep this one because it was such a pain to get mounted in the location installed and removal is just as painful, so ....

Frigidaire FAC126P1A Compact II 12,000-BTU Room Air Conditioner with Electronic Controls

Frigidaire FAC126P1A Compact II 12,000-BTU Room Air Conditioner with Electronic ControlsThis air conditioner I purchased new for around $269.00. Its small width, (hence the name Compact II) fits in the small width double hung window that I needed it for (I believe my window is 24" width). Most standard sized window units will not. This is one of the reasons for buying it, along with its low price. This unit blows extremely cold and cools my living room and kitchen with ease even on the most brutal summer days in New York. I have no complaints about the ability of this unit to cool whatsoever. My only complaint is it is extremely noisy it sounds like a factory. It is even very noisy at its lowest fan setting. The manual says to lower the fan if it is too noisy, but that is an exercise in futility. So if you're gonna have to hear it, might as well leave it at maximum. I like the variable fan speed feature. So one would be hard pressed to find a 12,000 BTU for the price of this Frigidaire unit, but you WILL be stuck with the noise. Frigidaire should reverse engineer a Panasonic air conditioner if they want to be serious about competing in this market.

I gave it a generous three stars because of its impractical noise levels.

Scratch the first review. I spoke, or typed too soon. Do not buy this air conditioner. After returning the first one because it was damaged before shipping, the second one has broken as well. Used it for about 6 days in total. The compressor has stopped working completely, just makes a buzzing sound and emits a burning odor. I've had it for about 50 days in total so the return policy is useless. I'm extremely dissapointed with purchase and feel like I have wasted $300+. Tried contacting frigidaire but no luck so far. Unfortunately I can't edit the original rating. I'll update this review with specifics on how Amazon deals with the situation. Again, be extremely careful if you are considering purchasing this air conditioner.

05/22/08 Just want to update this review in terms of how Amazon handled the situation. After calling and Emailing customer service I received an Email from Amazon stating that "As it seems that the problem with this item is more widespread than we originally thought, we are not able to send another replacement. We will gladly refund you in full for the return of this item." It took a few Emails but Amazon refunded me in full for the air conditioner and shipping. I was impressed with how they quickly apologized and offered a full refund; very good customer service. The air conditioner gets 1 star, but Amazon gets 5. I have since purchased an LG 8000 BTU air conditioner. The fan isn't quite as strong, but it's much quieter and the air gets just as cool as the frigidaire. I've used it for about 15 days and the compressor is still working.

I bought three of these for my office. 2 years later, all of the compressors have stopped working. Even when they were working, the three units were loud and they did not cool very effectively. Based on my experience with these air conditioners, I will never buy Frigidaire again and I would recommend you avoid them.

I spent 3 hours reading specs and reviews on window units. This had the highest energy rating (10) when I bought it 4 summers ago. It cool 540 sq ft. I live on the second floor and the central air couldn't maintain in the dead of summer. This unit saved my summers. A big plus is when fall is cooling down and spring is heating up, there are many weeks you can use this unit (with a fan blowing into your main living area) by itself and save on central cooling. I keep it in the master bedroom so I can turn off the central air at bedtime and sleep in a comfortable room. Its has been the most money save purchase I've made in years. Very important! It' footprint allows installation into a small window. Don't forget to measure.

Black & Decker JUS500IB 500-Amp Jump Starter with Built-in Tire Inflator

Black & Decker JUS500IB 500-Amp Jump Starter with Built-in Tire Inflator
  • 500 Instant starting amps for maximum performance
  • 120 PSI inflator for vehicle tires, sports equipment and more
  • Low-profile design for easy storage within vehicle or garage
  • Visual and audible reverse polarity alarms warn against improper connections to battery terminals
  • Ultra bright area light for increased visibility in dark areas

So far this unit has performed well. I used it to jump-start a raggedy old farm tractor, and the little box seems to have an impressive amount of cranking power (for short bursts, anyway).

I've used the inflator twice to inflate a car and a truck tire. Takes awhile to get a tire up to pressure, but's that's normal with these little compressors. For it's size, it's quite adequate as an emergency air source. Took me about 8 minutes to bring the car tire up from 25 PSI to 45 PSI (under the weight of the vehicle). Really not that bad.

The truck tire took a bit longer, as I had to stop the unit to let it cool down. B&D recommends running the inflator for no more than 10 minutes continuously. Total time to bring this nearly-flat tire up to pressure: Just under a half-hour. Again, not too shabby considering how small this thing is.

I like the layout of the controls and indicators. Clear, easy to read, easy to access. Storage for the jumper cables is OK. I'd prefer to see them stowed in a sealed compartment, but they seem pretty secure. Keep the clamps clean, and there shouldn't be any issues storing this in a car.

Storage for the inflator hose is cheesy. It's stuffed into a tiny compartment, and you have to really bend the hose in order to get it inside. The maximum length of the air hose is about 2 feet. You must set the unit very close to the tire for the hose to reach the valve. Not a problem for me so far, but keep this in mind if you need a unit with a long reach. B&D could have done better here.

A major gripe I have is that the inflator has no provision for a backup power source. Depending on how long the internal battery will remain charged in storage, you might find it lacks the juice to power the unit in an emergency. Why couldn't B&D include a 12V cigarette adaptor for this situation? For a unit that's supposed to be a piece of emergency gear, this seems like a glaring oversight. You'd better hope that the internal battery is extremely reliable without it, the unit is useless. Could have been a five-star rating if not for that issue.

Overall, I'm pleased with this purchase. Reliability will be the ultimate test, and it's still too early to pass judgement. If it holds up season after season, and delivers the goods when really needed, I may change my rating to 5 stars. For under 100 bucks, I'd say give it a try.

UPDATE: 12 Jan 2010

The inflator died on me, with less than 4 hours total runtime. The motor was cranking away, but there was no air pressure at all. Brought it to a B&D service center, and paid $15 to have a new one shipped to my home. No hassle at all returning the unit, and the replacement is working as advertised so far. Maybe I just got a lemon, so I'm not going to downgrade the rating at this time. Will check back at a later date.

UPDATE: 23 Aug 2011

Working fine after 15 hours of compressor use. I was advised not to store the unit very long in sub-freezing temperatures. This apparently can damage the compressor, which may be the reason my first unit failed.

This review is for the Black & Decker JUS500IB 500 Amp Jump Starter with Inflator

I received this last week, plugged it in to charge the battery, and planned to leave it in the garage. I wasn't planning on writing a review until I used it, until this morning when I needed jump-start my car because "someone" left the lights on overnight. Sure enough, I put this baby to work immediately and the engine started (no surprise there).

What I was surprised about was that I needed to connect both the positive and negative to their respective terminals. At first, I connected the negative clamp to the chasis (like how I would normally jump a car), but my car would not start. I tried several places along the non-painted metal frame part and even the engine block of the dead car to no avail. As a last resort, I connected it to the bolt of the negative post (while wearing eye protection), and the car started. I know this is a no-no, but nothing else worked, and I needed to go to work. I'll troubleshoot at a later time (or most likely never). UPDATE: I've since used this on various automobiles (including the problematic car described above), and connecting the negative clamp to the chasis works perfectly fine now. I'm not sure what happened since, but now it is working fine following the proper useage.

Now, I keep it in the trunk, just in case. It has a nice compact body, so it does not take up much space. I like the light on the unit, but it is also a bit awkward to use (it points UP, rather than down), so I had to hold the unit upside down to see what I was doing. I have yet to use the inflator, so I have nothing to contribute about it. I did try it, and it seems to work. The compartment for the hose is awkward (behind a small plastic door underneath), but at least the hose is stored and not dangling around.

It does not come with an extension cord, which is required for charging. Luckily, I had one available, but it would have been nice to have come with one (even a six-footer would be nice). (Minus half star)

Overall, a very nice portable jump starter. I have a project car that constantly needs a jump, and I found this jump starter readily handy. For those who do not anticipate to use it a lot, this unit may be a bit overkill, and there are other smaller and cheaper alternatives. Highly recommended. Will update in a few months.

Note to Amazon: This product comes with an "AC charger," and not an "air conditioning charger." Please make the appropriate change in the product description section.

I've owned this for almost a year now, and I can honestly tell you, buy the jump starter without the tire inflator.

The jump starter works great, the internal battery lasts a very long time, and this unit is very well made for the most part.

The weak link is the tire inflator. It overheats very quickly depending on the outside temp. In hot sunny weather it began smoking in a few minutes. Within a few months of regular usage (I have a bad rim on my car), the inflator completely died. It ran, it just has no air pressure.

I guess in an emergency the inflator would do it's job, but for regular usage, buy a better inflator.

The light works well, but points straight up.

The usb charger worked as it should.

I'd give 5 stars except for the inflator.

My rating is 3 stars

Please realize that this is heavy and clunky but that is expected. It does not sit well and must be layed down. Anyway the first time I had to use the air tire inflator, it broke off. Then I had an extreme amount of trouble exchanging it as it is a battery that cannot be shipped easily. Thanks to amazon they finally accepted an exchange and now it works fine.

Ingersoll-Rand SS3J2-WB 15 Amp/ 14.7 Amp 2 Horsepower 8 Gallon Oiled Twin Pontoon Compressor with Du

Ingersoll-Rand SS3J2-WB 15 Amp/ 14.7 Amp 2 Horsepower 8 Gallon Oiled Twin Pontoon Compressor with Dual Voltage 115/230-Volts
  • Designed for maximum maneuverability on the job site
  • Durable cast iron construction
  • 100% continuous duty cycle for tough applications
  • 5.7 acfm at 90 psi
  • 8 gallon twin tanks

When I started looking for a portable compressor that would stand up to the daily use in construction and provide ample air for framing nailers and a texture gun I considered Emglo, RolAir and IR. I have owned an IR and Emglo and both worked well. Once I plugged the IR in I was amazed at how quiet it is. The speed of the compressor is about 580 RPM. It is the same pump used in other IR compressors that use a bigger motor and a bigger motor pulley to produce more CFM.

Buy Ingersoll-Rand SS3J2-WB 15 Amp/ 14.7 Amp 2 Horsepower 8 Gallon Oiled Twin Pontoon Compressor with Du Now

I did a fair amount of research before purchasing this product. I have many IR brand tools and accessories and have always been very happy with the quality and durability of this product. I was dismayed however, upon receipt of this product, that when I went to discharge the tank after running it that the drain valves appeared faulty. Upon further inspection i discovered that the pit-cocks were painted over which made them 'locked' and immobile without using a pair of channel lock pliers to open. When I finally opened the tank, one chamber was closed and never drained at the factory, which then discharged blackened liquid buildup all over my shop floor. This occurs typically when the compressor is used over time and not properly discharged after use. This is an IR recommended procedure after each use of the compressor. I now need to replace the pit-cocks and clean the threading, or take it to a shop or IR dealer to have it fixed. I should not have to have dealer maintenance performed before the product has even been used.

On another note, Ingersoll-Rand recommends use of synthetic oil in their compressors, however they ship it with standard oil already in the engine. This means they tested it with regular oil and you have to drain it yourself in order to put the manufacture recommended product in.

Frigidaire FRA065AT7 6000-BTU Mini Compact Window Air Conditioner

Frigidaire FRA065AT7 6000-BTU Mini Compact Window Air Conditioner
  • 6,000-BTU window-mounted mini air conditioner cools rooms up to 216 square feet in size
  • 2-speed fan with 8-way direction control; low-voltage start-up; anti-bacterial mesh filter with tilt-out access
  • Effortless Restart, Sleep Mode, 24-hour timer; electronic controls and full-function remote control
  • Energy Star rated; 1-year full and 5-year sealed system warranty
  • Measures 18-1/2 inches wide by 16-3/8 inches deep by 12-1/2 inches high; weighs 51 pounds

I have this unit installed in the bedroom. A very quiet unit, can hardly hear the compressor kick on. Perfect for the bedroom....12x14. The noise is less than a box fan. I leave it running 24/7 and surprisingly does not effect the power bill a lot, seems real efficient. I had to adjust the tilt of the unit after the first install because of a sloshing sound from the fan in the rear of the unit. This was caused by the fan sloshing the water. The unit needs to be nice and level. The buttons on the front are easily cleaned, and the remote is the same way with its flat design. The filter comes out and is cleaned with out any effort. The unit does not have a fresh air/recirculate switch as some of the larger models. From the large amounts of humidity it pulls from the room, I assume its only recirculate. After a few days without any rain in a small room over night, it can leave you with a dry throat and irritated sinuses from the low humidity in the room.

Buy Frigidaire FRA065AT7 6000-BTU Mini Compact Window Air Conditioner Now

Before buying this Frigidaire, I'd purchased two portable air conditioners: one 7000BTU Danby and one 9000BTU Sunpentown. Both of those were totally unable to bring a 12x14 bedroom down by more than 3-4 degrees, even after running all night. They blew cold air but for some reason the room never got cooler. One night it was even warmer in the bedroom, with the AC running full blast, than it was outside when we woke up in the morning!

I didn't want a window unit because I work at home and wanted to be able to roll the AC back and forth between the bedroom and my office. In the middle of a major heat wave, I got desperate and installed this Frigidaire 6000BTU in the bedroom so I could get some sleep. I found that it cooled the room to about 72 degrees (100+ and humid outside during a major heat wave) within about 90 minutes. I was so amazed at how much better this works than the other ones that I immediately bought another one for the office. The total cost for these two vastly superior window units was about fifty bucks more than buying one portable.

Installation was a little harder with the Frigidaire window unit because I have vinyl windows and had to cut two wooden shims to anchor the AC so I wouldn't have to screw it into the vinyl itself (which would void the warranty). This is true with any window unit. But the slightly longer installation time is definitely worth it because the Frigidaire:

is much cheaper

is much quieter

cools the room fairly quickly when the others didn't cool it at all

is more energy efficient, which means it's cheaper to run--and as a bonus, the city where I live gives a rebate for EnergyStar appliances

I was a little psyched out about installing this unit with vinyl windows, but there are a bunch of good tutorials out there if you put Google to work, and in the end it was much easier than I thought. Total no-brainer. . . this appliance is fantastic and a great deal.

This unit is 14.7 inches high, not 12.5 as listed. If you have a standard window, that will not be a problem, but it could be a problem for smaller windows (ie., basements, bathrooms). I bought a different unit for that reason, so I can't comment on this unit, other than the size. If you need a 12.5 inch 6000 BTU unit, Amazon has the Frigidaire FAA064P7A for roughly the same price. I bought that and it went in my window perfectly and I am quite happy with it.

Want Frigidaire FRA065AT7 6000-BTU Mini Compact Window Air Conditioner Discount?

The first two days I fell in love with this thing. It cooled off the room within minutes and I couldn't hear much more than a rush of air as it operated with a slight hum.

So, on the third day I'm laying in bed and it sounds almost like the fan is grinding against something or rattling/scratching. I check everything out, all clear. Turn it on, and a few minutes later I hear the same sound. It's not a constant sound, but sort of pulsating and rather annoying compared to how quiet it was the first couple days. Quiet hum...rattle rattle...quiet hum...rattle scratch...It was definitely not like this initially and I ran it on energy saver for 3 days straight.

The other complaint I have is the packaging. The power cord comes in a long plastic sheath for protection I guess. Well, whoever packed mine at the factory wrapped the cord all the way up into the unit to where it was secured with screws. I had no way to get the plastic off without taking the thing apart, so I ended up cutting it off with scissors and HOPING it doesn't start a fire. I have no idea if they put the plastic all the way up into the electric contacts or what, but it's still embedded in the unit. I'd have to somehow take the entire front cover off and take the screws out of the piece of plastic securing the power cord to remove it. Why would someone do this? Was it the same person responsible for building my unit that now has a rattle?

Apparnetly I just got a lemon put together by people who don't care about their jobs. You'd think quality control would notice something like this, but I guess they don't care either. I gave it 3 stars because I'm sure there are people at the factory who do a good job and put out good units according to the other reviews. I wouldn't know personally.

EDIT: I got a replacement unit from Amazon, and the noise is even worse! It started making the scratching/sputtering sounds after the first 1/2 hour or so. My bedroom is completely quiet, and who the heck can sleep with that sort of noise? And this second unit also makes loud ticking. I assume it's water dripping or something. But every few seconds I ear...TICK...DRIP. At least the first one didn't do that. And the dripping sound is even louder than the scratching sound.

Maybe if someone has this unit in a room with lots of noise they won't notice as much. But in this small, quiet room it's completely unacceptable. I imagine that's where most people will put these. The plastic bag over the power cord is also all screwed up inside the unit and I can't remove it, just like the first one. They must have come from the same lot. They were probably on the same pallet. The person assembling them just embedded the plastic bag up inside the unit where the electrical wires attach, which can't be all that safe. Crazy.

This thing is going back also. I'm never buying another air conditioner by Frigidaire again. I think I'll try a small Kenmore even if it's more expensive since the big one in my living room has never given me these kinds of problems. I would delete this review and repost with only one star but I'm not sure if they'd let me put a new one up. Don't get this scratchy, drippy thing unless it will be used in a noisy room.

EDIT: I recently got the Kenmore 5200 BTU model from Sears (which is pretty much identical to this unit in design with subtle differences; they must have the same manufacturer), and after 3 days I'm not experiencing any annoying sounds. No loud scratching or sputtering. No dripping of any sort. Just a consistent, quiet hum when in the cooling cycle. I'm very happy with this unit. I guess the two Frigidaires I had were duds. The Kenmore is a little more than I paid for the Frigidaire at the time, but it's definitely worth it. I wish I saved myself the headache and got that to begin with. It gets my room just as cold and I can sleep! Too bad it also has that loud beep when changing settings, but that I can live with.

This unit was purchased from Amazon.com as a result of a 10000 btu GE air conditioner that had failed in less than 12 months in our new 10' x 20' office and storage building. Due to the late summer time (still 100 degree) temperatures local suppliers did not have compatible replacement units and GE did not have parts available for the failed unit. After considerable research and reading many reviews we selected this unit for both the automatic qualities and the promise of expediant delivery. The new unit came in about 3 days but was damaged apparently by ware house handling. We immediately contacted Amazon customer service (about 5:30 pm our time) and they provided us with instructions for returning the unit. By the next morning we had received email confirmation of the handling process and that a replacement unit had already been shipped!!! The unit arrived a couple of days later. The unit was quickly unpackaged, set up with temporary spacing in the old GE opening and plugged in. The unit was much quieter than the GE unit had been but it is also smaller. While it did take about 5 hours for the unit to initially cool the building and contents (prior 100+ degrees)to about 80 degrees again the unit is 6000 versus 10000, it did so quietly. The noise level is about that of a small vibration free fan set at the slowest speed. We later made the installation semi-permanent since this building is heavily insulated with out windows and this unit sufficiently maintains the temperature down to 70 degrees inside with the outside over 100. Again the unit is very quiet, easy access and cleaning of the filter screen which is in the front, automatic features work very well as listed and expected. One super feature is the automatic cycling of the fan every few minutes to draw room air over the temperature sensor so you get an accurate reading of the room temperature and cycling of the conditioner if necessary. This has resulted in a much more comfortable and consistant temperature control than other units we have had experience with. This result is a reduction in electric consumption and the elimination of 10 degree mis-readings of other units. This unit should be a consideration for anyone looking for a quiet and efficient unit but do make sure that you choose a size listed for your individual application and condition.

WEN 61720 3/4-Inch to 2-Inch 18-Gauge Brad Nailer

WEN 61720 3/4-Inch to 2-Inch 18-Gauge Brad Nailer
  • 18-gauge brad nailer fires brads 3/4 to 2 inches in length
  • Operates at 60-100 psi with a 1/4-inch NPT air inlet fitting
  • Rubber-wrapped handle; quick-release for jam-clearing; aluminum body
  • Magazine holds 100 brads; includes oil, wrenches, and custom case
  • Tool weighs 5.4 pounds

I had read the reviews so i went ahead and purchased this for about 35.00 shipped. I got it in the mail and opened it up.The case seemed very cheap. Now i pull out the nailer, It seems like WEN didnt pay much attention to the details. Some of the paint looked touched up, the trigger was just a piece of metal and some of the other pieces of the gun looked of questionable quality. This doesnt look even close to the beautiful, yellow, quality DeWalt that my buddy loans me.So nervously i hook it up and put in a stack of 1 3/4" nails, they loaded nicely. I test the gun on a 2x4.I tap a couple in and the nails go so deep i thought it misfired. So i turn the little depth wheel under the tip,(which feels kind of cheap but actually works better than the dewalt) and tap a couple more till perfect. I start laying some base board and the gun has a very smooth and solid yet lighweight feel to it. Not one misfire. Also the gun doesnt jump around. and the tip looks like it would destroy the board but actually did very well. I finished the kitchen and hallway and am very impressed with the gun. I have used a DeWalt to baseboard and trim two entire houses, and comparing the two I actually think the WEN performs better. I have only shot a couple of hundred nails out of the WEN so I will have to see how it holds up. but for 35.00 I could buy a few of these at the cost of the others. It's even starting to look prettier than the DeWalt.

This nail gun is a good value, and seems well made. It works well when you use the right kind of nails, which, as the descriptions says, is 18 gauge, from 3/4 to 2 inches.

Unfortunately, the standards for nails are such that not all 2 inch nails will work with this gun, because believe it or not, 2 inch nails come in two different lengths. I have never found actual 2 inch nails: they are either a bit longer (51mm), like Porter Cable and many other brands, or a bit shorter (50mm), such as Bostich. Only the 50 mm nailes (such as Bostich) fit; 51 mm (like Porter Cable) does not; I have tried both brands.

This is unfortunate, because the 51mm type is more readily available, for example at Home Depot. I had to do a lot of looking around to find 2 inch nails that would work with this gun, but I did eventually find a store (a lumber yard) that carried the Bostich brand. It is obvious when the nail won't work: you simply cannot load it.

I bought this gun to be able to shoot 2 inch nails. It would have been a very simple engineering change to support both 50 and 51 mm nails. Therefore I am taking a star off for not supporting the commonly available 51mm size. I wish also that it would accept 5/8" nails. It actually might, but I'm not going to buy a package to find out that they don't work, or worse, that they jam the machine.

If you are considering this gun and want to use 2 inch nails, be sure a local store carries them before you buy it.

This is a Pneumatic tool meaning you need at least a very tiny air compressor to run this. The tiniest 120 volt portable air compressors will run these, most of the very cheap small air compressors are less than $100. If you don't own an air compressor, I will tell you it's a safe investment. They last for 20 years or more, I bought one 14 years ago, and have never changed the oil or done anything. If you want it to last forever, get an "oil" air compressor not an "oil free." They cost about more, but they last forever. As for the size, just go with the largest one you can afford, and make sure it's portable, and something that you can haul in your vehicle if you need to take it somewhere for a project.

About the 18 gauge brad nailers:

I purchased a Harbor Freight 18 gauge brad nailer. I was very happy with the performance, but I noticed that the rear latch was made of soft plastic. If you dropped it once it would shatter the rear latching mechanism into bits. I returned it and got my $32 back (after tax). I went to all the major websites, Home Depot, Sears, Lowes, but Amazon had lower prices on all the different models of air nailers. I have been a mechanic and carpenter for 16 years. I built my own air compressor when I was a kid, so I have a very good understanding of air tools, and tools in general. I have not tried the WEN yet, as I just ordered it. But here are some selling points.

1.) The Dewalt has a lot of bad reviews about it jamming

2.) The Harbor Freight nailer spits a lot of oil out and can be messy, and had no power adjustment. It is also made of soft cheap plastic.

3.) The NuMax looks good, and will work fine, although it has no power adjustment, and no quick release to take the front apart to clear out jams. If you get a jam, it will take 5 minutes to fix it, instead of 1 minute.

4.) The Hitachi looks poorly made, the rear latch mechanism doesn't look like it's made out of metal, and the tool is ugly! But this is just my opinion, more research is needed to see if the rear latch is made of soft plastic.

5.) The other brands, Porter Cable, Campbell Hausfield, etc, are too expensive.

6.) The WEN has

A.) Depth adjustment. This is important because a normal brad nailer set at full power at 120 psi will blast a nail so far into the wood that you won't ever see it again. You need either to regulate the pressure down to 70 psi or maybe even lower for some very soft woods, or some type of power adjustment on the tool. The Wen has this adjustment capability so you can use it without turning your pressure way down at the air compressor. Most air compressors come with a factory air regulator, so it's not the end of the world if your air tool has no adjustments. It will still work fine without them. But I wanted the convenience of not adjusting the air pressure all the time.

B.) The WEN has a quick release to remove the front piece to clear out jammed nails.

C.) The WEN has a METAL latch on the back, and it's on the side of the tool, not sticking straight out the back like some. This means you would have to try really hard to damage the rear latch mechanism, and it looks about 10 times stronger than the Harbor Freight tool I returned which was only $13 less.

D.) Good reviews, no jams.

Now if you purchase the Wen and want to use 2" brads, use Bostich brand only, as they are the correct length.

I will post more after I've received and used the tool for a few months.

March 24, 2013

I've now owned the tool for 1 year. I have built many things with it, I have never had a single jam. My original review still stands. I have used the longest nails you can possibly use in this tool, the 2 inch nails, and it drives them in with power to spare and leaves a tiny pin head print, without damaging the surrounding wood, unlike the cheap staple/brad nail combo guns which leave the very large chunk out of the wood from the staple driver head, this WEN only leaves a tiny, tiny dent in the wood, which is not really noticeable, so it is good for finish work, and the adjustment for depth does work perfect, so you can protect "over driving" the head into the work piece for fine finish work, but it will take a couple test shots to see how much depth you want.

I noticed when driving the 2" nails, it has more than enough power, and doesn't jam, although using such a long nail is much stronger, it is difficult to drive them straight because any angle at all will be amplified when attaching two thin 1/2" pieces of plywood together using an excessively long brad nail (2 inches), which doesn't leave much room for error. I still enjoy using the 2" brad nails that I bought from Harbor Freight which work perfect in this gun, because they are stronger than the shorter ones, although I don't feel that it's necessary.

Notes:

1.) Oil can shoot out of this gun from the top vent onto your work piece. That's the only disadvantage I've seen so far. However, you can turn the vent to the side and it will blow away from your work piece, rather than on top of it, so that's something that is up to the user to control. Also you could very easily put a small rag on top of this WEN brad nailer to cover the exhaust port when doing ultra fine finish work to protect 100% from oil. However, I built several boxes with fine oak veneer plywood and during that time with 60 brad nails I only had oil fall on the wood 1 time (and it easily sanded off) because I wasn't paying attention to the direction of the vent on top.

2.) I love love this brad nailer. The handle is super comfortable. I've never owned a nailer, although I've owned over 30 air tools, this one has a quality feel to it, it's not very heavy, but not plastic and cheap either.

3.) Pressure does need to be reduced below 120-90 psi for ideal results, because you don't need full pressure, even with 2" inch brad nails this gun has more than adequate power to get the job done, so either use the limiter on the tool for depth, or reduce the pressure. I found that reducing the pressure down to about 60 psi was all that I needed to do to get perfect depth control without changing any settings on the tool. Your results will vary. Most air compressors have a small black control knob near the tank, with an output pressure gauge, this is so you can reduce the pressure for nail guns, and paint gun.

The case is not very well made, but the tool its self is very high quality. Overall, after 1 year I'm extremely happy and would never trade this tool for anything. Well worth the investment.

Want WEN 61720 3/4-Inch to 2-Inch 18-Gauge Brad Nailer Discount?

This brad nailer works very well. The tip can mark your surface, so be careful. No problems with jamming. Feels and performs like an expensive nailer. Would recommend to anyone who needs a brad nailer.

I've never used a brad nailer before. However, I wanted a way to quickly/easily re-attach all of the baseboard throughout my house (I removed it to install tile floors) and this brad nailer worked great! I paid around $35 shipped and a comparable 18 gauge 2" brad nailer at the big box warehouses sells for $70 and up!

RapidAir Union Elbow Fitting - 1/2in., Model# 50300

RapidAir Union Elbow Fitting - 1/2in., Model# 50300
  • 90° fitting with two ports to connect nylon tubing
  • Simply push tubing into fitting until seated
  • Tubing can be removed by pushing release ring
  • Molded mounting hole for clean installation appearance

this system always begins to leak somewhere what a waste of money. I spent hours setting it up with no leaks securing it everywhere and yet at least once a week there is a leak somewhere.

Amflo 201D Standard Blow Gun with Rubber Tip

Amflo 201D Standard Blow Gun with Rubber Tip
  • Provides leak proof seal for blowing out lines
  • Rubber tip is excellent for body shops
  • Will not mar painted surfaces
  • 11 CFM @ 100 PSI

There isn't a whole lot to say in a review of a basic blow gun. This one is solidly constructed and performs as expected for blowing out saw dust, purging water from hoses, air drying parts, etc. The rubber tip, which is removable/replaceable, is helpful in forming an airtight seal with similarly shaped orifices. It has standard inlet and outlet sizes, so it mates well with other standard air hose fittings and blow gun accessories.

Just as pictured, it does not include a coupler to attach the blow gun to your air hose, so remember to obtain one separately.

I give it five stars because there's really nothing to criticize about it, other than perhaps...

...Made in China (which is not a knock on its quality, just information for those who might want to know).

I bought Amoflow because it was supposed to be a quality product. But the rubber nose piece fell off after 3-4 days. The lever is riveted and not secured with a screw, get's loose after a while. Not impressed.

I lost one of these on an off road trip and like to keep one in my garage and in the Jeep that way I'll always have one with me. It's great for blowing up air mattresses, blowing out air filters, cleaning tire beads etc. I've had one of these for a long time and after about 15-20 years you might have to replace the rubber tip. Great product.

This was a replacement for my previous one that lasted about 14 years. The rubber tip split on the old one. Other than that it's great.

PRO 1/2" AIR CONTROL UNIT REGULATOR LUBRICATOR FILTER

PRO 1/2' AIR CONTROL UNIT REGULATOR LUBRICATOR FILTERI purchased this unit to replace a Regulator that had no filter or lubricator. It works nicely and the filter dumps any moisture collected at shutoff. The reason I gave this unit 4 stars instead of 5 is the o-ring on the oiler cannister. It requires several attempts to seat it correctly, each time requiring purging of my small shop system and refilling with pressurized air to test for leaks. It seems that the o-ring is just the right size without stretching and tends to slip out of its groove in the cannister when installing even using a little oil as lube to slip it into place. The fourth time was the charm though, and it's been holding well since then..

Ingersoll-Rand 2130 1/2-Inch Heavy-Duty Air Impact Wrench

Ingersoll-Rand 2130 1/2-Inch Heavy-Duty Air Impact Wrench
  • Offers 550 feet-per-pound of maximum Torque
  • Full stroke tease throttle
  • Easy glide forward/ reverse switch
  • Multi position power management
  • Lightweight reinforced aluminum hammer case

I have been performing maintenance on the family cars since my dad died when I was fifteen. That makes over a quarter century of brakes jobs and tire rotations, removing and tightening lugs with a T wrench. A couple weeks ago, I bought a compressor; mainly to keep the tires inflated, but I couldn't resist sizing it at least marginally enough to run an impact wrench. Then I couldn't resist going ahead and getting the wrench. I worked a little overtime, made my order, and my Ingersoll-Rand 2130 was on the table when I got home from work this evening. I immediately went out to perform an overdue rotation on the Silverado. Those who've used impact wrenches regularly will laugh, but I was downright dumbfounded when the wrench tapped the lug nut a few times and spun the nut off in a fraction of a second. And the wrench hardly attempts to turn in your hand. Had I known an impact wrench would make life this easy, I would have invested in the wrench and compressor years ago.

I did some research before purchasing, reading a lot of reviews and comparing specs. I pretty much decided one was wasting his money going below about the $110 point. The other contender that would minimally meet my needs at the lowest price was the Ingersoll-Rand 231C 1/2-Inch Super Duty Air Impact Wrench. I'm sure I would have been happy with that, but moving up the 2130 seemed to be good value. For about $30 more you got a little more forward torque (500 ft-lbs. vs 350), a little more speed (9500 RPM vs 8000), about 2/3 the weight (~4 lbs. vs. 6) at very little additional air use (4.4 SCFM vs 4.2, however they measure that).

I was a bit concerned about my compressor being up to the wrench. It's a Sears Craftsman 20 gallon, 1.5 HP, 150 max. PSI rated at 3.8 SCFM at 90 PSI (however THEY measure that). A lot of experts would say it's not enough. Sears said it was fine for 1/2" impact wrenches and only appropriate for intermittent use with a 3/4" wrench. I did some math and took the risk. For performing a tire rotation, the compressor was every bit up to the task. I really can't imagine any job in which the wrench would be used so continuously to really tax the compressor. If you're a shade tree mechanic, this compressor had no problem with the wrench. In fact, I had almost completed the rotation when I realized that I had turned off the compressor earlier when my three-year-old came outside and was terrified by the compressor. I had done the job with only stored air, it was still holding 90 PSI, and I had noticed no reduction in the performance of the wrench.

I did not find any photos of the 2130 on the web that showed the rear the wrench. (I intend to post a photo or two in a the next few days) The red button in the side photo pushes left and right, choosing forward and backward. There is a five position toggle (at least on mine the manual says it's three) in the rear to choose the maximum power. The switch is labelled from 1 at the lowest setting to 2 at the highest setting. Go figure. Power is also continuously variably controlled with the trigger, and I have to say that it is a fabulous trigger with fantastic control of speed. I've never used a power tool with fine control like that. I was also amazed at how quiet it was. It certainly makes little noise when it's not hammering, and when it is, I don't believe the 100 dBa plus listed in the specs (on the verge of pain.) I also ordered the Ingersoll Rand SK4M14 1/2-Inch Drive 14-Piece Metric Standard Impact Socket Set. This appears to be a great value as well.

Time will tell how it holds up, but with my use, I expect it last a long time before requiring a rebuild. I can't speak for professional mechanics, but if you're a do-it-yourself mechanic, I don't believe you will go wrong with this wrench.

Oh yeah...while you're waiting for your new toy to come, get a bottle of air tool oil. None is included.

Tool is awesome. Not much you can say about an impact wrench as they do not do a lot but when you want it to do what it does it does it perfectly. Powerful, solid, compact and very lightweight as far as impact wrenches go. I have had impact wrenches before that the sockets fall off too easily but this one holds them real snug and has about as many features on it as you can fit on an impact wrench. There are many way more expensive wrenches out there but this one will stand tall next to all of them in the same performance class. Get it now.

I put this tool to good use right away to remove a 1 and 1/4 inch nut which was holding on the rear axle yoke on my 88 Chevy Pickup. I had tried to break it loose previously with a half inch breaker bar and couldn't budge it. I've never used an impact wrench before so I didn't know exactly what to expect, so I set my compressor at 85psi (manual says 90psi is max.) put the socket over the nut and pulled the trigger. About 5 seconds later the nut was off. I couldn't believe how easy it was. Putting the new yoke on was a bit tricky as you have to be careful not to damage the crush washer. I set the tool on the lowest setting and it was very easy to control with the trigger; I got it on with no problem. Next I needed to replace a brake caliper so I used it to pull off the front tire which was just plain fun. I'm just a shade tree mechanic but have found lots of uses for this tool. It's very useful and I couldn't have done some of the jobs I've done without it. I don't think you'll be disappointed if you decide to purchase it. I also purchased the Ingersoll Rand SK4H13L 1/2-Inch Drive 13-Piece SAE Deep Impact Socket Set to go with it as I was told that regular sockets would not hold up. These are great sockets, very hefty with easy to read markings (great for those with over 40 eyes).

Want Ingersoll-Rand 2130 1/2-Inch Heavy-Duty Air Impact Wrench Discount?

I purchased this impact wrench to replace a very old Craftsman hand me down which doesn't have adequate power. The wrench is finished in very nice composite body with the air ports at the handle of the wrench. Power setting is established with a dial on the rear of the unit. There is a direction switch just below the dial setting. The trigger is very responsive and has variable power delivery. It fits 1/2 inch impact sockets perfectly and has a design where it grips the socket so it doesn't fall off easily.

The very first time I used this was to loosen up axle nut on a 7 year old car driven in the Northern USA climate (salt + road grime). I would presume the torque delivery was very close to its maximum, but after 2-3 seconds of hammering, the axle nut came loose. Pretty impressive. I loosen up both side of the FWD axle in one minute. It saved me time, my back and possibly my knuckles if I would have it done manually with an extra long breaker bar.

The wrench has a very nice balance and is pretty lightweight for its size and torque delivery. Please adhere to its minimum air delivery and pressure (make sure your compressor is up to snuff). The wrench is not so quiet, but I usually use ear plugs around these things anyway. For the price + power delivery + quality of construction, I would comfortable rate it at 5 stars.

I've been using this with a Craftsman Pro 26gal compressor. I did some research and this impact wrench had good specs for the SCFM rating I could support. Just changed my timing belt last weekend and it was great for removing the wheel, motor mount, crankshaft pulley bolt etc. The IR is short enough that it fits into most places you'd expect to use an impact wrench. Also, it fits well in my hands and has a solid feel.

There are three power settings on the back. The counterclockwise rotation is full force regardless of the setting. With the middle setting, my lugnuts go on just a bit tighter than spec, so I actually avoid using a torque wrench when I use this.
