This compressor is impressive, fills up fast, has good recovery, and is very very quiet! My only negative comment would be on the size of the tank. I new it was only a 10 gallon tank when I purchased, but this is because they don't offer a bigger one. Ideally a 25 or 30 gallon tank and this would be perfect for my use.

I had an old Rand 4000 air compressor that was recalled (1986 model). As part of their recall program they let me choose from a number of different air compressors at a discounted price. I chose the SS3F2, 2hp 30 gallon Garage Mate since it is almost identical to my old Rand 4000. So far I'm very happy with this compressor. The first thing I was shocked about is how quiet it is. You can still listen to the radio while this thing is running! Also, with the 30 gallon tank, it has to run less anyway. Make sure you also buy the start up kit because when I got my compressor it did not have oil in it yet (or even include any). I found the start up kit for $24.95 online and it comes with 2x 0.5L bottles of oil and 2 air filters. The pump only holds 0.5L of oil so you have a full bottle left over for a future change. The start up kit also extends your factory warranty by 2 years. I highly recommend this air compressor and Ingersoll Rand products!

I was looking for a long term replacement for the "buzz bomb" compressors like on Sear models. This compressor is it. Runs quiet, large tank keeps pressure steady. Only slight problem was alignment of the handle attach bolt holes to the tank brackets was not good. Love it.

I'm very disappointed with the shoddy quality of the air compressor and the modes of shipping. First air compressor had to be left at the bottom of my driveway because the driver couldn't back up the hill; when I got the compressor up the hill into my garage, I followed the instructions (lubrication, etc.) and started it up-the air filter apparatus came apart and further investigation revealed that the air filter apparatus was crushed. I notified amazon and they were prompt in sending a different shipper to pick up the old compressor and replace it with a new compressor-again the driver was unable to back up the hill due to a faulty transmission in the truck. Again, I followed the instructions and started it up-as the compressor built up air pressure, the air regulator apparatus blew apart with pieces going everywhere; again, the compressor is useless. I contacted amazon for a return and full refund this time last week, I contacted the main number of the shipper and obtained a confirmation number for the return, and, per their instructions, I contacted the local affiliate and was told that my confirmation number wasn't recognized and that they need the internal number to authorize the pick-up. I re-contacted the main shipper and relayed my experience at which time I was told that I would get a call within the hour for a scheduled pick-up (06/26/12). As of this writing, I haven't heard from anyone (07/02/12). I've known the Inglesoll-Rand brand for decades as being the industry standard...not this time...2 strikes and I'm still in the hole for $$$ and have a piece of junk taking up space in my garage.

Update: I ordered and purchased the Regulator Apparatus here in town and fixed the compressor myself; after an email exchange with Amazon, they credited me about 20% for my trouble. I now have a good air compressor and my parts and aggravation costs were covered. It's good to know that Amazon makes every attempt to look out for their customers...I will continue to use Amazon and cast this latest negative experience as a fluke.

Compressor Arrived Today. Couldn't See any Damage Until the Unit was Taken out of the shipping box. Both Compressor Wheels Cracked, One Wheel Completely off the unit. It appears that reconditioning means painting over whatever the previous owner has done to it. You can see on the handle, where black, greasy hands and tape have been and that they attempted to cover it up with red spray paint. My unit doesn't even look close to new, let alone, reconditioned. One of My guages is twisted downward, so that you can only see a portion of it. The "quick coupling" had to be removed and replaced as it would not stop leaking air. Unit appears to pump up very slow. Tire inflatiion is about all I can see this unit being used for. Too bad, I had such high hopes!

dont waste your hard earned money on this junk. when i bought it i read the other review on and it and got a bit nervous because it was a bad review then i convinced myself that mine was probably ok. NOPE, i was completely wrong. the other review pretty much described it exactly. i pulled it out of the box and it looked like it had been used, returned and spraypainted. the wheels were falling off and when i started it up it sounded like it was going to explode. after i let it fill up for a while it was leaking like crazy from around the adjusting knob. after i got the working i hooked up an impact gun to it and it wouldnt work the gun. thats when i put it back in the box and did the return.

I took off the top to see where the leak was coming from (seal) and it looked like all the

They should ship this with adjustment instructions. There are two adjustment screws, one for the cut out and one for the differential. They are not marked and there is nothing to tell you which is which. Don't get me wrong, you will figure it out, but it would be nice to have an instruction sheet with it.

The auto/off lever is a little short for how stiff it is, but other than that it works great! The only thing I would add is that it should have a diagram in it to tell what dirrection does what as far as the setting screws for high and low pressures. It was easy to figure out, but it would help.

This new nailer (the FC350A) is one great tool. Very powerful, a good range of nail sizes, not too heavy, works well even in the lower psi range. Well made, simple to maintain. I chose the clipped head over the full round head because the magazine doesn't stick out quite so far. Which leads me to the caveat. If you search for nails for this gun, you'll see many manufacturers stating compatibility. Also, you'll see sites quoting the gun works with nails strips from 30 to 34 degrees. This is not so! You *must* have nails strips of 34 degrees, except for the shortest length nails. Why? If you go to Home Depot and purchase a box of 3 inch nails, clipped head paper collated, like those from Grip-Rite (who state compatibility with the FC350) you'll notice they are 33 degrees instead of 34. This one degree difference means that longer nails don't get punched by the nailer the impact head just slides down the nail. Shorter 33deg nails sometimes work because their short length means the head is more in line with the impact head. So really the problem is in trying to obtain 34 degree paper collated nail strips. I've tried everywhere, including all the merchants listed on the PorterCable website. I finally ordered online from www.circlesaw.com who have the right range. It's a great tool, it's just a pain in the $%#$% to get the right nails, at least right now. Maybe it's still early days.

I'm not sure why someone experienced problems with the 33 degree nails from grip-rite at Home Depot. I bought the FC350A nailer from Amazon and bought a box of 3 1/4 inch x .131 hot dipped galvanized nails from Home Depot. The nailer and the nails work great for me! I really love the size of this nailer. Very nice improvement over the older version. The price from Amazon is also very competitive. I am extremely pleased!!!!

Update After running several hundred Nails through this nailer, I stand by my earlier conclusions. I have not had any problems with the Grip-Rite nails from Home Depot. I plan to try the Paslode 30 degree nails in this nailer. Great Nailer!!!

I bought one of these guns back in the beginning of 2004. I have 4 now. It's very well balanced. It drives 3 1/4 nails in lam beams with ease. As long as the preasure is right on the compressor. I like the switch on the trigger for the sequential or bump fire. And then the depth knob on the nose is handy too. I sold off my two Dewalts, two Sencos, and Craftsman framers because I never used them after I got this one. It loads like a Senco from the bottom of slide. Makes for a quick reload. Mine all have cases too which is nice. The only framer I have beside these guns is my Paslode. This gun is the right size with short magazine gets into tight spots. I have only had one problem with one them the drive broke but it was under warranty. If you want a gun that will please and take a beating at good price get this one.

I'm a computer nerd with an air compressor & pnumatic power tools. The only thing more dangerous is a father with a camcorder. I know this because I have all the above. I bought this clipped head nailer to finish off the basement, to build an office for myself to give the family more room upstairs. This thing works GREAT! This is so awesome. I have a 20+ year old Topeak Joe Blow bike pump. It's the "public-use" pump I bring to the many bike clinics I do as a volunteer over the years. Thousands of bikes, car tires, kids balls and sports equipment 2 decades and constant abuse and the pump had never failed ... until the gauge started to leak about a year ago. In the last couple of months, the rubberized cover popped up suddenly at 100 psi a couple of times and once nearly smacked me in the cheek. So I took apart the gauge assembly and found the zinc cast threaded 1/8th NPT nipple had cracked. That was the source of the leak. There was insufficient thread left to keep the gauge screwed in. So I ordered this inexpensive Interstate Pneumatics gauge and it had better housing attachment and better machined metal on the base and was more than accurate enough for my bike tires. Even the old rubber housing around the old bike pump gauge fit just right around this new gauge. Now my old friendly pump is back in service.

I purchased the C2002 WKR to replace a well used 10 year old Porter cable CF2600 120 psi 6 gallon compressor, which was overheating. With the exception of being packaged in a plain brown box (instead of the new model box printed white and red), and the small refurbished sticker on the compressor housing, my unit appears to be brand new. The box arrived in great shape with no dents or marks. I looked at a new C2002 at a big box store and it appears the plain brown refurbished box is slightly heavier than the printed new box, which is good thing if are buying on line and having it shipped.

What I like

The oversized handle on top is a great improvement over the single sided grab pocket on the old CF2600

The second air port is a great addition as It allows two guns to be plugged in and used at the same time.

My model unit came with an accessory kit containing a 25' air hose and fittings so no need to go by a hose for the second air port..

There are features on the side of the pump housing for winding up the cord, and there is a cord clip molded into the plug. No more dangling wires during transport.

There is a cover over the pressure gages and manifold The cord on my CF2600 would occasionally snag on the unprotected gauges.

The unit is slightly lighter than the CF2600 it is replacing.

The 150 psi capacity with 120 psi recharge pressure means my framing nailer in particular can run for a long time. I was applying OSB sheathing to a roof ( nailing ever 8" bang, bang, bang). By the time the air pressure got down to where the nails were not fully seated, it was time to stop and reload nails anyway. Note I run with the single shot sequential trigger. If running with the faster bump fire trigger, the compressor might not be able to fully keep up.

Looking thru the slats in the pump housing I can see that Porter Cable has added internal ducts / baffles to improve the air flow of the cooling fan. My old unit was basically an open box with a fan at one end. On this new unit I can definitely feel a forced flow of hot air coming out the back compared to the more gentle flow on the old one.

Other comments.

There is a warning label on the unit which says remove compressor from service (or replace tank) 10 years after date of purchase. Reason given is "Risk of Bursting. Water will condense in the air tank. If not drained, water will corrode and weaken the air tank causing a risk of air tank rupture". Owners manual instructs "Drain air tank daily or after each use." : Realistically speaking even purging tank after each use won't get out 100% of the water, so after ten years it is probably a good idea to retire the unit. Thus if the service life is only 10 years, saving the extra $$$ by buying a refurbished unit makes sense.

Very happy with the performance so far.

Aug 2011, One year update. Still very happy. I used it to do some spray painting which it does not have the proper capacity for, but it stepped up to the challenge and ran continuously for 10 minutes or so doing it's best to keep up. The redesigned Proper handle ( compared to its' predecessor with a pocket on one side ) makes transport so much easier.

I bought this to power a framing nailer. The compressor was refurbished. I received the compressor within 4 days from the date of order. The drain valve on the compressor tank was defective. However, Customer Service at Porter Cable was extremely helpful. They apologized for the faulty valve and ensured that I had the replacement part in 2 days. The compressor works great. It handles my framing nailer without any problem. I believe this was a very good purchase.

... the water drain stopcock stopped working within about 1 day. The pressure tank would no longer hold air. So, with a little bit of teflon tape and a spare bolt it is again holding air. However, now I don't have a water drain; which is no big deal to me. I'll just unscrew the bolt every now and then to drain.

Still, it shouldn't have happened. Plus the water drain screw looked poorly made from the get go.

I ordered it factory-reconditioned and it arrived with a bad drain valve (wouldn't close). It was also in a more used condition then I would expect for "factory reconditioned" so I returned it and got a full refund on shipping. I ordered a second one and it was in much better condition and works perfectly.

Since March,I have frequently(this afternoon in fact)used this brad nailer. I would advise anyone searching for an inexpensive,reliable 18-gauge nailer to buy this one.

However, please be aware of one problem that I had with this nailer. After its delivery,I tried using it with 3/4-inch PORTER-CABLE brads that I had purchased separately. The brads would not feed properly. Each time I used a brad,I had to open the nailer and push the entire row of brads forward in order to send another brad into the wood I was nailing. I nearly returned the item to Amazon, but instead remembered that I had once read comments that said that minutely different brad sizes could cause the feed problems that I was experiencing. Sure enough, a pack of generic(and cheaper)"3/4" inch brads worked perfectly.

Lesson learned: Buy the brad nailer; consider another brand of brads!

I have always been a Porter-Cable fan, since the early 80's. This Brad Nail Gun continues to support my faith. i bought this direct from sears a little over a year ago. we were starting to do some remodeling on our house and found out we needed a new pressure washer when our old one stopped working. we went to sear's to see what they had available and found out they had this set on sale. i'd been needing a pneumatic nailer for a while so we bought it (along with a new pressure washer) and i've loved it ever since. i have since purchased a finish nailer and a framing nailer and use the air compressor from this kit with both of those as well. the air compressor isn't big, but it does the job since it goes up to 100 psi. i did purchase a longer air hose since the coil-type that comes with it can get kinks in it easier than a standard air hose, but other than that this thing has been awesome.

i am by no means a professional but just a weekend (sometimes weekday) diy person. this gives me less time to get the job(s) done i need to get done and move on to something else.

as for the person who wrote the first review, the one thing i've found that others have done when they've been in your situation is that they didn't close the pressure release for the hose. you have to make sure you turn the knob on the front of the compressor all the way until you can't hear/feel air coming out of it. this will allow the air to flow into the hose and to the nailer. if you have done this, then your unit may be faulty.

We already had a bigger compressor but bought the Evolv about a year and half ago for the portability to use with the brad nailer. We didn't want to spend a lot of money as we only had a couple of jobs to do around the house where we could use the nailer. We had the same problem as one of the other reviewers that the nailer wouldn't always work. When it wouldn't work we'd disconnect it from the air hose and unload and load the brads, reconnect and it would work most of the time. Haven't used it for a few months and went to plug it in and the breaker/safety tripped. Pushed the reset and heard a pop like a small firecracker and it smelled like something electrical burned. We could replace the switch as it's only $5 but shipping brings it to almost $15 and not sure that it will fix the problem. Paid around $70 for it to start, so will likely just get something a little better next time instead of wasting any more $ on the Evolv.

Bought this direct from Sears. Operating instructions not detailed enough for rookies like me. I followed the instructions as best as possible (oiled before using, psi to correct number, loaded brads, etc.) When I was ready to test on scrap lumber, zilch. Pulled the trigger and got nothing, not a sound. Of course, it was a Sunday when I wanted to use it, but the Sears help line is open M-F. So right now I am stuck in the middle of a project. If I find out I did something wrong, I will change my rating, but until they can tell me how to get this thing to work.... If anyone out there can help, I would appreciate it.

Ordered from Amazon, arrived quite fast, BUT:

The box looked suspicious, so I opened it in presence of the FedEx guy. The SINGLE tape holding the top in place, came off almost by itself..!

Allthough the corners of the box were torn, the styrofoam ends were "intact" and there was clearly no damage caused by the shipper..

Then I lifted it out of the box > NICE and LIGHT!! < BUT: Components fell out of the ripped, flimsy plastic foil cover. Wheels, handle and some individually packed, small parts were there BUT NO accessories as advertised (coiled hose etc.) At the initial inspection, found the main metal pipe (covered with heat sink fins) hanging LOOSE and obviously having BROKEN OFF the connection at the compression cylinder. It looked like the welding/solder connection had broken. This obviously would have rendered the compressor useless and NON functioning. No further inspection was performed, just repacked the unit carefully (evem added extra bubble wrap packaging (which should have been there in the FIRST place!!) And initiated Amazon's RETURN process, which so far was flawless and convenient as usual. I requested a refund (had no other choice from the instructions..!..?), but would NOT have asked for a replacement anyway, since I lost "faith" in this product!! Summary: I guess, "you get what you pay for", the price of ~$150.incl. "Free Super Saver" shipping, was toooo good to be true. The System looked NICE and COMPACT, was surprisingly LIGHT weight and had impressive specs. But it actually gave me the impression, it was a RETURN from someone else ALLREADY (missing components / "lousy" repacking. It's a shame, that these manufacturers built, what seemed to be, an actually nice unit and save money on the PACKAGING ! IF the unit would have been complete and NOT defective, it MIGHT have been a NICE Compressor ... I'll NEVER find out ... P.K.H

Bought it as a sample display last day when attending a trade show at Vegas. Sales manager was incredibly nice and cut me a good deal on this unit. It came with a lot of accessories that are really handy; although missing one nozzle but for the deal i got i couldn't have asked for more.

Comes with tires and handle that's easy to take it home. I have been using it occasionally for small household projects and been pretty happy about it.

Only concern is if anything happens to it, i don't have a receipt so i have to pay both labor and parts.

Will update my review if I am problems with it in the future.

It would be a good little air compressor if it wasn't broke on arrival. I went for that super saver shipping and that may be my biggest mistake. The top of the box was open when I recieved it. My coiled hose was missing. One of the female connectors was broken off with part of the threading still on the connector. The plastic cover over the switch was also broke off. The way its made you have to have that in place to operate the machine. Most people would have returned it I guess but I lost all faith in this transaction and set it out by the dumpster. A 179.00 loss and a lesson learned.

This compressor stopped working after I used it twice for light airbrushing. Turns out that you cannot run it on an extension cord, not even a heavy duty one. That was the first thing the manufacturer said when I called about the broken compressor. It doesn't mention anywhere in the compressor's manual that you cannot run it on an extension cord but it will void the manufacturer's warranty if you do. I also called one of the repair centers from the manufacturer's website: They recommended to buy a Maxus compressor instead. It's worth spending the extra $$.

It works great for it's size! I bought this to blow out the water from the trim on cars that I detail. It wasn't big enough to do a full car so instead of buying a much bigger one for $$$$ I went to Homedepot and got 3 10 gallon air tanks for $30 each and made a "custom" "air compressor system". Now it is awesome! One downside to my setup is that it's a 3 gallon compressor filling 33 gallons of tank...(it takes an hour). But thats ok because I can't wait for a compressor to refill so I just have one that's big enough and let it fill after I'm done.

Now the compressor itself is craaaaaaaazzzzzzyyyyy LOUD!!!! I measured it with a Db meter. It's about 110 Db which is the same as a rock concert. If you have it anywhere near where you work you will go def. My "custom" solution was I set it on the concrete floor of my garage and built a brick and mortar box around it with a sound proof foam lid 8" thick on top. I took the power supply from an old computer and the cooling fans and made a cooling system for it so it wouldn't overheat in the box. Now it's about 70 Db which is the same as a casual conversation. Nuf sed

I am sorry to say that I am very disapointed in the performance of the unit I received. It is slow and week when attempting to build up and recover psi, excessively noisy, and had pressure inconsistencies making the shortest of airbrushing strokes difficult. I have $10.99 diaphragm unit for inflating tires that outperforms this unit. If I had not become ill and been able to test the unit before return time expired, I would have requested a replacement or refund!

Item shipped from seller very fast. It is smaller than I thought it would be, which in my case is a good thing. I wanted something that could be stored in the house and moved as needed. It will primarily be used to inflate tires and toys for my nephew. It is a small compressor, so don't buy this thing thinking it will power an air ratchet or paint sprayer. It is very loud, so you may want to let it fill where it won't bother anyone or wear ear protection. Would buy again.
