When I started framing we had an older silver looking Paslode gun that felt like it weighed a ton (chuckle), and a brand new one that felt like you were using a finish nailer (it was light in comparison). Both guns shot nails extremely well. In fact, they were more dependable than the other brands that were available on the jobsite (Hitachi & Senco).Since somebody decided to liberate me from my Porter-Cable FC-350, I decided to go back to my beginnings and purchased this Paslode gun. I do not feel that my choice was flawed at all.
You've got to make sure that your pressure and the depth adjustment are in tandem or you will have overdrives or stand-offs. This is the case with any nail gun though.
I'd always recommend Paslode guns to anyone who would ask. Besides, I'd rather use paper collated nails too.

I purchased this air nailer several months ago but only in the last 2 weeks have I put it through its paces by building a 30X14 boat shed. I went through several boxes of nails without a jam. The gun is well made and easy to use. Double firing is not problem and in those areas where I had to really reach out I installed the single shot trigger in a few seconds and went about my business. The company sends the single fire trigger free when you return a card included in the box. Reloading is a dream and the nailer fits the hand very well. I have only 2 complaints: One, the gun is louder than I expected it would be and is louder than most other brands I have used. Two, I emailed the factory with a question and apparently they have better things to do than email a customer back because I never heard back from them . . . very poor public relations I think. Overall, a well made air nailer.Want Paslode 501000 F-350S PowerMaster Plus Pneumatic Framing Nailer Discount?
I purchased one of these nailers last summer for a framing job. It operated flawlessly for the whole summer, and continues to do so this year. It is very light, and as a result of good design, can be used in relatively tight quarters. I like mine, and would recommend it to any experienced carpenter.Handy DanI have used and owned all kinds of framing nailers. This one is the berries! Read ToolPig's review.
And Hey! Guess what? Paslode makes full-head nails to shoot from this gun. Surprised? I was.
You can not beat this gun for performance, price, or utility.
Just wish I could get paid for saying this.

I already had a JNC 660 for my truck and wanted to put smaller units in each of our cars. I bought 3 of these, then 2 more for Christmas gifts. They are easy to use and much more dependable than the cheap imports with lots of whistles and bells.... I prefer the larger unit for my dodge 1500 with a V-8 (I've jumped it 5 or 6 times between charges without a problem... electrical trouble...) This smaller unit is great for our Toyota 4 cylinder cars and Chrysler Concorde with a 3.5 6 cylinder. These beat the heck out of jumper cables, and my daughter and wife don't have to ask strangers for help... or wait for AAA.Changing my 1-star review to 3-stars. I purchased this unit but it wouldn't start my 1997 Land Rover Discovery V8 -at least not by following the standard directions. I spent over an hour with it over two days trying to start the car but it simply wouldn't turn over. This said, I was able to start the car using jumper cables connected to another vehicle, and AAA was able to start the V8 with a similar but larger portable unit. I finally called Clore Automotive Technical Support at (800) 328-2921. First off, they were super nice. They suggested that the JNC300XL may or may not work with a V8 truck, that a larger unit might be required, especially if the truck battery were completely dead. AAA had been out several days earlier, tested the Land Rover battery, so I knew it was OK, it was just low.The Clore technician asked how I was connecting the unit. I said I followed the instructions, connecting the red lead to the red battery terminal and connecting the black lead to a non-moving metal engine part. He said, "There's your problem. You should connect both cables directly to the battery. They tell you not to do this in the directions, to avoid sparks, but it's what you need to do." I tried it and the Land Rover started instantly. So, it works and looks like this unit can save me in a pinch. I will keep it in my car from now on. I only wish the instructions included this extra bit of information, or what to do if the car fails to start following the standard instructions. If you have any issues, I'd recommend calling Clore Support.

GREAT PRODUCT! for the price.I spent 2-3 hours on-line looking for what I needed. A Battery Jumper: 1) not too much money, 2)would help me start my car immediately...This accomplished both needs. This is the cheapest, most reliant item. Ignore the Black&Decker item. I read too many bad reviews.
I used this one 5 times (within 2 months) before I took my car into the shop to correct the REAL problem ---My real problem: I bought a cheap replacement battery.
This item saved me from having my Auto Club telling me, "SORRY, YOU HAVE CALLED US TOO MANY TIMES".I wish all cars had auto shut-off feature so that it turns off the headlights and all electronics (except for door lock), so that if you forget to turn these off and remove the key, it wouldn't be sucking power off of your car's battery. My Mercedes would turn off the headlights and all electronics but my Honda would not. Having been spoiled by the Mercedes, I often forget to turn off the headlights and interior lights on my Honda, resulting in a dead battery.
Since I bought this jump starter, fortunately I didn't have to use it because I never ran into a situation. But just yesterday, I had someone walk up to me as I was proceeding to get into my car, asking if I had a jumper cable. I told him I had more than just a jumper cable and handed him this jump starter. Five minutes later, the guy came back very happy and told me that it worked on the first attempt.
Even though I had charged it almost 3 months ago, it worked on the first attempt which is reassuring. I didn't want to write a review of this product until I had tested it and now I am doing it because I do think this is a great product and can save you a lot of hassle. Please make sure to take it out to fully charge it every 3-4 months so you don't end up with a dead battery AND a dead starter.
***Update 09/04/2011***
Just to give you update, I have been using this product for more than a year now. I only had to charge it once. Its internal battery is just amazing if you're only using this for a quick jump-start every once in a while. I have used it at least more than a dozen times and it has always worked flawlessly. I last charged it several months ago and it still shows that the internal battery has enough juice to go on (two green LEDs).
Even after using it for more than a year, I am still raving about it. This purchase was well worth it and it has saved me a lot of time since I bought it.

Does exactly what is says: keeps moisture out of your line!! and works better than them moisture traps!! good investment! thanks.I build furniture, and recently I was having trouble with water in the line clouding up the lacquer finishes I sprayed. I didn't want to spend hundreds of dollars on a desiccant air dryer, so I purchased one of these and it works like a charm. I've also used it to paint cars and it worked without a hitch. If you're looking for a temporary fix to that menacing moisture that'll ruin a good finish, look no further. This hose is perfect for the guy who worries about water or oil in their air lines. Bought one and put it on right after my new QC3 3-Stage Air Filter/Dryer Unit. Both together work perfect, and my fish eye issue is gone! My compressor is only 3 years old, but I apparently had a little oil residue coming through my lines. This helped to take care of any issues. My paint work now is free of contaminants. Campbell Hausfeld CHN10499 2-in-1 Brad Nailer/Stapler
- Combination brad nailer and stapler ideal for specialty work
- Features rubber comfort grip, adjustable depth control and quick clear nose
- Ideal for trim work, crafts, paneling, cabinet assembly and more
- Side-loading magazine with capacity of 100 fasteners (18 gauge brad nails or 1/4-inch staples)
- Includes 1,000 1-inch brad nails, 1,000 1-inch staples, 1/4-inch industrial plug, 2 Allen wrenches, bottle of nailer oil, and high-impact carry case
First of all the soft nose does prevent you causing a divot in your workpiece, but the plunger makes up for it. It really makes a "slot" in your wood. Hard to hide, unless you have a putty that match's the wood perfectly. It drives the nail or staple quite deep and even with the air adjusted lower it will sometimes drive the nail or staple too deep, leaving it protruding out the backside of the two pieces. Very irratating.
This tool is prone to "double taps"....firing twice..one on top of the other...keep a pair of needle nose pliers handy...more scar's on the wood.It also will pick up two nails at the same time and try and drive em into the same hole (keep those needle nose handy). It jams a lot. The "adjustment" for nail length is a pain.
It is comfortable to hold and lightweight, other than that I can't recommend it.

I got this nailer/stapler to build birdhouses and bird-feeders. It works great because it doesn't matter if there is a divot. I am not a perfectionist so, if it's too big a divot I use wood filler. Although, buying the staples and nails are expensive because my local hardware/big box store only stocks the large packages.very nice unit to work with and built very well. ease of use.I choose the five star because of safety of the unit and the adjustments.
Their isn't anything i dislike on this unit.

Porter-Cable DA250B 1-Inch to 2-1/2-Inch 15-Gauge Angled Finish Nailer
Note: We use these finish nailers primarily in oak but sometimes in wood species such as Brazilian Cherry, Mahogany, Rosewood, Maple and other exotic wood types.
Update 07/07/05: I have had each of the 3 Porter Cable DA250B in the shop for repair 1-3 times each within the 1st year. I think it's time to switch entirely to Dewalt. Porter Cable shouldn't mind now since it's owned by the same company now. Also I should add that the Dewalt finish nailer we have is still working flawlessly with the original driver and it gets more use than the Porter Cables.I have been using Porter Cables 16 gauge finish nailer, and their 18 gauge finish brad nailer, for over a year now. It has performed great. I was doing some tongue and groove cedar on a wall, and wasn't able to get a the nail on the 16 to sit down flush in the upper corner of the tongue. I picked up one of these 15 gauge, the new DA250B, and this thing kicks butt. It is substantially more powerful, than the 16 gauge. POW, their is no mistake about it. What that amounted to, was the 16 gauge would not drive the nail all the way into the inaccessable corner of the tongue. When I tried it with the 15 gauge, it drove the nail in further, all the way to clean with the surface, down in the corner. The 16 gauge took it to the extent the tip would go, but the 15 gauge went beyond the restriction, all the way to a flush finish. So you could say, the tongue extends out farther on the 15, like beyond flush. It is not the air pressure, I'm running it on a 6HP 60 gallon tank, or the setting of the head depth, I played with all of those. It simply is a more powerful machine, and the tongue appears to extend more, to drive the nail deeper in situations where you can't get the head all the way in a corner. It drives it in anyway.
I would like to make a comparison. It is like comparing the 18 gauge to the 16, but moreso. Maybe it is the new technology, but this thing kicks. The second you fire the first nail, you know it, before you even look at the result. It does leave a larger hole of course, and it has a slight D-shape to it. Reminds you of the old hand forged nail look, but on a finish nail size, and it is a little hole, rather than an exposed nail.
You will notice that Porter Cable states that it is improved to accept other manufacturers nails. I think that may be the nature of the problem some others were experiencing with the older model. They put strange nails in the gun, but now it can accept them.
I highly recommend it, and I expect it will give me the same reliability the 16 and the 18 have given me over the year.

I was building a cabinet the other day and using this nailer, and man, I tell you, you could feel and hear the power of this puppy throughout the shop. It fired rounds of 2" nails in solid oak and with every shot, there was a consistent message being sent out to the wood, "don't mess with me"!When working with solid hardwood material, and finish nails, the last thing that you want is your nails to be proud of the surface where you have to go back and set them all manually, or the nailer leaving an ugly mar on the surface. None of that with this baby;) It sets the nails and does it exactly where you want them. Very nice tool!

I can't think of a single thing that I would change about this gun. It loads easily, it is well balanced and not too heavy, the drive depth is easy to adjust, and it has never jammed even though I drive mostly 2-2.5 inch nails. I also have a 2 inch brad nailer and that may be sufficient for most people who are only going to nail molding. But for applications that require a 2.5 inch long nail or more structural support, this nail gun is perfect. I bought mine reconditioned for about a 20 percent savings and it has worked flawlessly and looked brand new.Want Porter-Cable DA250B 1-Inch to 2-1/2-Inch 15-Gauge Angled Finish Nailer Discount?
I would give it 4.5 stars but that is not an option. I got this one for xmas, I guess the wish list on amazon does work (hehe). Just finished up a basement finsish, shot about 4 boxes of 2.5" and 2" nail through it, not a one miss or jam (watch me jinx myself). I do know that porter cable has completely redesigned the "B" version of this gun, maybe all the negative feedback for it was for the "A" version. I can't complain about this nailer, not in the least, except it seems to be slightly inconsistent in the "blow out" in the wood. It feels light in your hand and the adjustable exhaust is great.Sunday, February 23, 2014

This is my second airbrush. I've been using a Paasche VL for years which is a nice airbrush. The Grex is much more expensive. But it is a superior airbrush. Now that I've had it for a few months I can review it. Well, I like the ease of the pistol grip action for more precise flow control. I also like having that adjustment stop in the back. And I also notice the Grex more finely atomizes the paint than the Paasche. And because of that too I get better results painting. I use it for painting car models. I find it easy to touch up areas where I have polished through the paint too much. I can very easily blend it back when I touch up those areas.Easiest To Use, Lots Of Great Features,I never have to worry about over spraying any detailed lines with this bad boy,

Ingersoll Rand F35121-400-VS 1/4-Inch Air Line Filter, Black
- 1/4-Inch NPT
- Standard Filter - 5 Microns
- Manual drain
- 0.5-Ounce polycarbonate bowl with guard
- 49 CFM
The filter seems carefully designed and well made. It is light-weight, but it does not look or feel cheap. I think it will last. The housing is plastic with aluminum internal components. It has a clever, sliding detente to release the bowl. Like other manual drain filter units, there is a pin at the bottom that can be pressed to release air and water while the compressor is pressurized. When the compressor is depressurized, you can remove the bowl.
This filter is cost effective, holds pressure, and works well. I recommend it.

When I first received this filter, the o-ring for the canister-to-housing seal was twisted and pinched, causing the filter to leak considerably. With a bit of fuss, I was able to re-seat the o-ring, and get it to hold pressure. You also have to be careful to wiggle the drain valve a bit after draining the water to get it seal tightly. Another gripe is that it doesn't come with a wall-mount bracket, so I built one myself (see attached picture).Overall, it's functional, extracts moisture from the air line, and is easy to drain. It does leak a tiny bit, causing the air compressor to come on approx 3-4 times per day for a few seconds when not in use, but that's bearable.

I was a little skeptical about buying such an inexpensive filter for my air system a few months ago, but I have to say that it has worked very well, and I'm very pleased. Never had a minutes problem with any of their compressors through the years.Want Ingersoll Rand F35121-400-VS 1/4-Inch Air Line Filter, Black Discount?
I gave this to my dad and he hooked it up to his air system in the garage. It was only $15 and provides a lot of features you don't get with those cheap $8-10 filters in the big box stores. I think this it well-made and will last a long time. It has a cast aluminum head with the inlet-outlet and the filter box is removable. I think you should be able to buy replacement parts since the filter comes out and there are part numbers on some of it but I am not sure. I would recommend this for anyone needing a good filter or water seperater. Also, regarding the other reviews about a mount, you can get a double-side threaded connector and screw it directly to the pump or to a hose-reel. A mount is not needed unless your set-up does not provide a few inches of clearance to connect it like I discribed.Once these are installed CORRECTLY, they work well!
First off... they are small. Don't expect something 12" tall, they are very small in size.
Second... they are NOT supposed to be installed near the compressor itself. For a filter to work properly, the air has to be cool as it enters the filter. If near the compressor, the air is hot and it will not separate the water. MAKE SURE to mount far from the compressor, and near the tool or end of hose.
Third... it's always best to use hard line up to the filter, from the compressor. Air Hose, is not the answer. Make sure to use the proper hard line (pipe) to the filter for it to be most efficient.

I love this compressor. It's really easy to work next to while it's running. You can hold a proper conversation. I haven't really thrown any heavy tasks at it yet, so it has kept up well. I'm sure it would keep up better than my old pep boys twin tank did. The weight on it is pretty nice with the aluminum tanks.I usually don't drain the tank after uses. I just leave it sitting there and plug it in the next time I need it. I'll drain it every few months with my very light use. Draining it is not as fun as something like a Ridgid, with the up front drain valve. Has anyone had problems with this kind of maintenance schedule?I live in a 55+ mobile home park and needed a q-u-i-e-t compressor, so I tried this, None of the *lols* around me even knew I had it. I used it to replace my roof and the only racket was the nail gun. The hose connectors leak, as others have noted, but I can replace them one of these days so it's not a big issue. It's true you can easily talk when it's running!

The guy could tell it was brand new so he had no issues fixing it for me for free. 3 weeks later I have my reconditioned reconditioned Finish nailer and all is well. - ASME Rated Tank

As I was remodeling the garage at my home, I installed a 240 volt outlet for the 20 gallon compressor and plugged it in. It began running as nicely as ever, but something was wrong. I noticed a few drops of moisture had leaked onto the floor from the bottom of the tank and found air was leaking from a pinhole in the bottom of the horizontal tank. This unit was old, but it still looked nice new even. Lol, I remembered that the tank was not ASME rated, and was only good for a maximum of 150 PSI. I recalled being disappointed long ago when I noticed that tank wasn't one of the better ASME ones, but thought keeping it well drained and maintained would keep it going just fine evidently good care wasn't enough for the thinner metal of this OEM Speedair tank. Some years back the original single stage compressor had blown, and I had replaced it with a newer (and much better) three cylinder 2-stage model with correct dual A-belt pulleys. I never used it much after replacing the compressor, so it sat idle a lot and hadn't been used at all since I purchased the new Emax. Unknowingly and silently, the tank of the old Grainger model was rusting away from inside.
I had set the controls with the installation of the 2-stage compressor to cycle at 110/130 PSI on/off. Old enough to know what can happen trying to use a weakened pressure tank, I knew better than to attempt a repair. That bad tank was a real let down as I was ready to put that unit back in service and had already serviced it with fresh synthetic compressor oil, new air filters, new Goodyear hose and fittings, and had even polished it all up. Add that to my remembering having paid Grainger over $600 for the original portable compressor, $300 for the 2-stage replacement parts, and I figured I had well over $900 sunk from sight. Knowing what new two stage compressor units cost, and knowing the rest of my components were still in perfect shape, I started looking for a tank.
I thought I would find something around $200-$300. Uh yeah, I found those prices if I didn't mind dealing with someone operating a website from a house, or working a vacant warehouse street corner. It took a while, and more studying, but I finally decided to cough up the cash for this Manchester 60 gallon 200 PSI tank. I certainly didn't want anything that could be a problem of any kind.
This 60 gallon Manchester model (302412) has a 30-inch by 13 1/2 compressor top mounting plate which is more than the 24-inch by 10-inch top plate I needed for mounting my compressor, and the electric motor a nice thick one too. This size can also easily support larger compressors in the 5-7 horsepower range. I didn't want to weld the old top plate on after having to cut it off the old tank, although I could have bought a lower priced Manchester model without the top plate. I wanted this new tank to look as good as my old compressor and its electric motor with the controls and I wasn't about to "rig" up something that didn't look factory. The increased size will also produce more air flow for intermittent use than the old 20 gallon tank ever could also keeping heat down with less frequent motor starts. The overall improved cooling should also cut down cut down on moisture in the air lines with the compressed air supply staying cooler. Overall height is 52 1/16-inches, and my compressor setup will add another 13-inches. So, my assembled unit works out at only just over 5-feet.
It's not portable by any means, with a tank weight of 192 pounds, but this Manchester has sturdy legs and a bottom fitting that will accept an electronic purge valve to keep the water drained out without me physically doing it. Periodic motor, belt, and compressor service will be easier with the vertical tank height. Even the floor footprint is small at only 20-inches which is less than the old portable. It also has nice inspection ports and a good number of fittings in all the right places. But what sold me was the weight and the gauge of the tank. The rating is also 200 PSI @ 650 degrees Fahrenheit, where most other ASME tanks are rated at only 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Quality always comes with a price, but it offers a much longer service life and greater safety. I figure this tank will far outlast me, considering the old OEM unrated Speedair tank lasted well over some 30 years. That works for me! I just hope some family member appreciates it after I've shuffled on.
... In the meantime, the old internally rusted 20-gallon tank won't go to waste. I plan to make it into a nice barbecue grill/smoker. That should help settle my stomach after watching my cash taking a hike because of it. I'm already salivating.
I'll be adding more here later, as I am currently waiting for delivery from Amazon retailer PneumaticPlus. I just thought I would share some of the specs, my knowledge, and my story, for the interim.
Update 8/23/2012:
Wow, I really have to hand it to Amazon order processing and shipping from PneumaticPro with Roadway. I ordered on the 18th and I picked up my tank today (the 23rd) only five days later by truck freight, and 425 miles away from the Bedford, Indiana facility. Amazon had predicted delivery from the 27th to the 30th. Yes, home delivery is included in the shipping, but I would have had to wait until the following day and it was more convenient for me to just pick it up earlier at the terminal. The order processing went very quickly.
The tank arrived with metal band straps holding it securely to a very strong pallet. Everything was in excellent condition at my inspection. The inside of the tank was sealed with plastic caps at all openings, and the tank was spotless inside so I could easily apply an interior coating if wanted. With some very light sanding and some touching up of the gray exterior primer coat, I'll be able to quickly apply a perfect topcoat of my choosing to have a great looking tank under my compressor setup. The very sturdy top plate even has multiple long slots in it to accomodate most any electric motor combination and larger horsepower frames. All that there is left to do is drill the plate mount for the compressor. Actual assembly of the entire unit will be very quick and easy due to the well thought out placement of ports, port sizes, and the factory installed top plate. The only downside is the tank comes without any of the fittings meaning you will have to provide your own fittings with ratings of 200 PSI and greater. This ran me about an additional $100 to purchase those fittings new, as those I had from the smaller tank being replaced weren't large enough.
Fitting ports on the tank:
(1) 1/2" NPT bottom (tank drain)
(3) 3/4" NPT both sides and top
(1) 1/4" NPT front top (where I used the 2-1/2" Oil Filled Pressure Gauge SS/Br, 1/4" Center Back, 0-200psi)
(2) 2" NPT front and side inspection ports (I used this fitting Anvil Malleable Iron Pipe Fitting, Class 150, Square Head Plug, NPT Male, Galvanized Finish)
Note: The threads come lightly coated with a pipe joint compound. You should clean this off and use thread tape. Using thread tape will facilitate easier removal of a fitting if needed in the future. Using high pressure rated brass and schedule 80 brass for nipples will also help where their use is possible.
