Engel MR040 Portable AC/DC 12 Volt fridge-freezer (40qt)

Engel MR040 Portable AC/DC 12 Volt fridge-freezer
  • Power consumption: 0.7 - 2.5 Amps
  • Volume: 40 qt. - Equivalent 58 cans (12 Fl.oz)
  • Weight: 48 lbs.
  • Freezing Ability: From 40°F to below 0°F
  • Warranty: 2 years

I'm an OTR trucker & this Fridge was tailor made for us guys. I have estimated I have saved many times the cost of this fridge over the 5 years I have owned it. Along with a small microwaveGE JES735WJ .7 Cu. Ft. Capacity Countertop Microwave Oven& a 12V/110 inverterCobra CPI1550 Dual Outlet AC/DC Power InverterI'm not a slave to overpriced truckstops. I can carry along a weeks supply of groceries(Leftovers, TV dinners, Lunch meats & cheeses etc.) along with all the beverages I need. Restocking is a matter of stopping at any large supermarket.Don't let the large size intimidate you as you rareley have to take this out of your vehicle......just take the removable wire basket(included) out, load & put back in the cooler & your good to go. The fridge fully loaded weighs upwards of 100lbs with 50 of that for the groceries. When I get ready to leave I just load the basket, take it to the truck & drop it in.

Unlike the cheap Thermo-electrics the Engels has a compressor & cools or freezes to whatever temp you set it., one or the other but not both, either a fridge or freezer & its not dependant on ambient temp.

A side benefit; unlike built in fridges this one goes with you whether your switching trucks or going on vacation to the lake(works on 110 as well as 12V so you have a spare fridge/freezer at the cabin)If you plan on an extended stay on the lake this will work in you boat as long as you have a 12V plug in.

All in all a great little cooler.Very rugged & very reliable

Pros

1.dependable

2.quiet

3.energy efficient

4.portability

5.built like a tank,steel housing

Cons

1.cost

2.bulky

If this one ever quits I will buy another.

This freezer is based on the Sawafuji "swing" compressor. Unlike the fairly similar and far less costly EdgeStar FP430 which uses a Danfoss compressor, the Engel MT45F is specifically designed to be operated in a moving vehicle, and can be run while at an angle of up to 30 degrees. It pulls a maximum of 2.5 paltry amps at 12 volts DC (the Edgestar draws 2.75 amps max, but can get food a little colder). It has a steel exterior, while the similar but less expensive ARB Fridge Freezer, which also uses the swing compressor, has a tough plastic housing, which might be a better choice for boaters.

The Engel is built like a tank, and comes with a 2-year factory warranty. I've had mine running while driving over thousands of miles of rutted dirt and gravel roads, and it works as well as the day it was new.

My biggest beefs with the Engel are: the price, which is close to twice that of the comparable Edgestar and more than the ARB; the storage capacity, which is pretty small; and the primitive controls--no temperature readout, and only a single dial marked 1 5. A more minor gripe is that the compressor hum, while not terribly loud, does seem to carry--you'll know when the Engel is running. Also, it is heavy. Those big steel handles are there for a reason (they also make good tie-down points).

I've been an avid camper for more than three decades and got into off-road exploring about 18 months ago with the purchase of a new truck. We often spend two and three nights and days out in the desert of Southern California trekking about. In the summer we have problems maintaining our food at safe chill levels and our drinks at the preferred temperature.

I have an electric cooler which does only a fair to poor job of keeping the internal temperature 20-30 degrees cooler than the 100 degree external temperature. Food will spoil quickly at these temperatures. I've tried three different coolers of increasingly larger sizes stocked with more and more ice. I ended up with two coolers stuff at about 50% ice and 50% food or drink.

With the outside temperature of 68 degrees I read the following temperatures inside the empty Engel 45:

1 = 39 degrees

2 = 25 degrees

3 = 20 degrees

4 = 14 degrees

5 = 1.9 degrees

The basket pulls out so that you can fill it in the kitchen and haul the food out to the waiting freezer. This helps make moving the already freezer easier.

I do a lot of off-road camping (research). I used a Dometic absorption cooled refrigerator for the past few years, which ran on 110 / 12VDC / Propane. The challenge I've had with the Dometic is it couldn't keep temperature in the desert heat. Other problems were the Dometic had to be out of the wind else the flame blew out and absorption systems need to be absolutely level something difficult to achieve when off-road. After a 10 day trip where some of the food spoiled in the Dometic despite my best efforts, I made the decision to look for a more capable refrigerator. After considerable research, I settled on the Engle MT45.

What a difference! The MT45 easily maintains temperature in the desert heat and will quickly chill water bottles and drinks added in something the Dometic couldn't do. It is surprisingly efficient. While the unit is rated at 2.5 amps, that's it's maximum draw at start-up when cooling down. My experience is that it draws on average around 1.1 amps (cycling on and off) when it is up to temperature. My vehicle has an auxiliary battery which is recharged by a 110 W solar panel when on location. With the Engle drawing approximately 30 W maximum, the setup is sufficient to keep the MT45 running indefinitely without the need to start the vehicle to recharge the AUX battery. With a 105 AH AGM battery, I can run the Engle for two days without recharging the battery, figuring a 50% max discharge of the battery and no sun to supply the solar panel. That's pretty good efficiency. The MT45 can operate at an angle of up to 30 deg. No more having to shove shims and rocks under the fridge to get it level like I had to do with the Dometic.

While the MT45 doesn't have a temperature read out I found that a wireless thermometer works just fine and is a small price to pay to be able to see the internal temperature up front in the drivers seat (or trailer). Keeping the MT45 dial at a little above 1.5, the fridge maintains temperature at 38 deg. F. The dial ranges from zero to 5. At 4 or 5 the MT45 can keep items frozen solid.

I really like the basket arrangement. It makes it easy to see and get at items. It also allows me to carry the refrigerator to the Land Rover empty then carry the food and drop it into the Fridge, lessening the weight I need to carry. The old Dometic had to be filled then carried, often very heavy to lift. So while some complain about the weight of the MT45, remember that you don't have to lift it with the food in it. Another benefit that I really like is I can pack the food in the Engle basket and store it in my home refrigerator to keep it cool until I'm ready to transfer the food to the MT45 before heading out.

The MT45 is built tough with solid steel construction, which adds to the weight. I'd rather have a durable unit than one that can't take the abuse. I'm miles from civilization and I need reliability.

I read a few comments about the vibration. While I don't discount that the individuals may have gotten a particularly noisy unit, a hum is characteristic of the Engle "swing" motor compressor. The compressor has only one moving part, making it far more reliable and efficient than other designs. My MT45 does have a hum when running but it doesn't bother me. It's really not all that noticeable. It is certainly louder than my previous Dometic, which made no noise at all but, after all, it is a compressor design, which is far more capable than the absorption design of my former Dometic. It's going to make some noise. I'm happy to have cold drinks and food that isn't spoiled. That's the whole point in my estimation.

Overall, I'm very pleased with the Engle MT45. I wish I had purchased it years ago and avoided all of the challenges I've faced trying to keep perishables from perishing when out at research locations in the desert Southwest.

Right out of the box it had a constant hum whenever switched on. It also had a lot of vibration. Even when placed on a pad or a carpeted surface, it would still make a constant sound. Could be heard when I had it in the tailgate of my SUV and I was driving!

For several weeks I've been 'working' with Engel on resolving this. They said it's not uncommon. They believe it's caused by something in the compressor mounting shifting during transit. They first had me 'bang' it on each of it's sides while it was running. Then they had me open it up!...and directly hit the compressor with a rubber mallet, again trying it on each side (orientation) and with it running.

Nothing has made a difference. Each time I've spoken to them I've asked for return information so I can send it to them to be replaced or repaired (though I'd prefer a brand new unit just replaced). I think they're being cheap as they insist each time that they have something new to try that'll be easy. All I've accomplished is getting scuff marks on the outside of my unit as well as paint chipped on the compressor housing.

This is not a $20 item! And yet they treat their customers as it was. I would not recommend anyone to buy one of these. This is not a unique occurrence. I know this because Engel told me this! Also, if it was a rare occurrence, they wouldn't hesitate to have me ship it to them for repair. They obviously have a problem and are trying to resolve it as cheaply as they can and/or get people to give up on their grievance.

  • Weight : 219g
  • Package Content : 1 x Compressor Muffler

This item description, while accurate, is misleading. The threads do in fact measure what is specified in the posting, but the threads are metric, or imperial or something, not SAE or standard American pipe thread. If you're in the USA, this will not fit a standardfemale pipe adapter, just want to share my experiences with everyone. It can be made to work with a PVC adapter if you cut most of the threads out with a utility knife and force, force, force the silencer in, but it ain't easy by any stretch. My advice is to stay away from this if you need standard American threads for your project. And my advice to Amazon is try to include a better description for your foreign sellers' articles.

- Ingersoll Rand Air Compressor Start-Up Kit - Model# 97338099Kit was recomended for my model.Got this kit and the air filters werent for my model. Also I found the oil locally for $6.00 a Quart. You do the math.

The added warranty extension is worth the money....that's what you're mostly paying for, and you've got extra oil and filters to boot.

Not what I expected. Start up kit I recieved was for a different model compressor. This was not useful tom. I returned it.

This start up kit was supposed to be for the compressor I bought at the same time(SS5), but it is for another Model. At the time, Northern Tool was the seller. Currently, Amazon is the seller but, the products are still shown mismatched. Just double check that you get the right kit for your model of compressor.

For 2 quarts of oil and 2 filters this is way over priced, however, you would only buy this kit with a new compressor, and that adds 2years to the warranty. So you are really buying oil, filters, and an extended warranty for this price.

If you just need oil and filters, don't buy this kit.

Want - Ingersoll Rand Air Compressor Start-Up Kit - Model# 97338099 Discount?

This start-up kit was supposedly shipped with the compressor ordered at the same time. The start-up kit was never received. I used the Amazon site "Contact Seller" messaging 5 times over a two week period trying to get someone at Northern Tool to simply acknowledge my problem, but to no avail! Amazon wouldn't help with the problem until the delivery window quoted by Northern Tool had passed (although it was clear the item had been lost, as all records showed it to have been shipped concurrent with the compressor).

Finally, a month after delivery of the compressor (sans start-up kit) my claim with Amazon resulted in a credit for the kit. Not my typical experience with Amazon or their sellers. So if Northern Tool is fulfilling your order, I hope it goes smoothly. If it doesn't you're likely hanging out to dry for a month until Amazon steps in.

I was a bit disappointed in my shipment. Although the nail gun appeared to be new, or with very little use, the compressor had quite a bit of use. Scratched, dirty, small dents. it worked fine, but seemed to go passed the point of "reconditioned" to something I could find on Craigs list at a lower price. I will not buy from this retailer again. If I did not have a pressing project, it would have been returned.

I was lured by the value of a nailer with the compressor but was disappointed when the 1st unit would not keep pressure up because of a leak somewhere you could easily hear it. I wonder if they really test these as part of "factory reconditioning". I decided to send it back for replacement and again was disappointed with the next unit pressure held on the input tank but nothing out the regulator knob was broken loose. The design of the plastic regulator knob is not robust at all it's too fragile.

I don't think either of these failures could have been due to shipping -testing would have caught the problems. So after 2 duds, I gave up on Porter Cable and went after another brand.

What a great Compressor. Did lots of research to be sure I picked the right compressor for my needs and this product delivered. The Box was a little weak, but everything, exactly as advertised was included. The valve that everyone is talking about was fine on mine. Compressor appears brand new. Air Nailer drove 600 nails today perfectly.

Purchased this nail gun to be used in the construction of a 600 sqft cabin. Out of the box the nailgun performed flawlessy driving over 2000 nails in 5 days of construction. Most work was done with a framing nailer (also purchased on Amazon). The finishing nailer worked well too, but I have only used in for a couple of dozen nails. I also purchased a 50 ft extension hose (from Amazon). For the type of work I did the included hose would have been too short.

NEW AIR COMPRESSOR HOSES 25' feet - BRASS NEW TOOLS

NEW AIR COMPRESSOR HOSES 25' feet - BRASS NEW TOOLSIt is good price and goods, good fit for my air compressor. it is more expensive in the homedepot, good

The hoses I received, 5 in one order, all show well made fittings and they do rotate smoothly. However, the description stated the hose was very flexible. This actually is a very stiff hose and retains its coiled "memory" even when warmed up. This makes it hard to maneuver and "coily" to make up a word. Again, well made and promptly delivered, but just too rigid to be convenient for hand tools.

Porter-Cable CFBN125A 18-Gauge Brad Nailer Compressor Combo Kit

Porter-Cable CFBN125A 18-Gauge Brad Nailer Compressor Combo KitI bought this unit about a month ago, and I thought it was a bargain...!The main reason I bought it was to install wainscot (1/4" pine, tongue-in-groove boards) in a room which was 9'x25'. This tool really made the work go pretty fast. To put up the wainscot, it's preferable to nail it through the tongue; what can happen is that the nail (or your hammer!) splits the tongue and therefore makes the installation go slow. To avoid splitting, the wainscot mfgr. recommends predrilling the nail holes! Talk about slow installation! The porter cable nailer allowed me to put the nails in without much splitting of tongues, and it also put the nail in without requiring a nail set to get the nail even or below the surface of the wood.

The compressor plugs into a regular 110v AC outlet, and only runs when it needs to refill its air tank. I found that I could shoot 20-25 1" brads before the compressor would kick on and run for about 1 minute. The compressor is not quiet, but it isn't that loud either. The unit is easily carried from place to place (approx. 40 lbs) and doesn't take much space at the job site.

I've always wanted one of these, and I can see using it for a variety of around the home build-it jobs. One more thing, I bought nails for the nailer at Loew's, and they were

Campbell Hausfeld RP1200 12-Volt Compact Inflator

Campbell Hausfeld RP1200 12-Volt Compact Inflator
  • One 12-volt compact inflator that's ideal for roadside emergencies
  • 120-psi inflator provides easy inflation of high-pressure items such as tires and sporting equipment
  • Conveniently operates from your car's 12-volt outlet
  • Includes 3 inflation nozzles, universal adaptor, cigarette lighter plug, and pressure checking valve
  • Compact size for practical storage in the trunk of your vehicle

I have owned other Campbell-Hausfeld products that worked well, but this one was the exception. There does not appear to be any warranty, and even if there was one, it would not be worth the shipping charges to send it in for repair/replacement.

I used this thing once to inflate a basketball and it immediately blew a fuse. The unit does NOT indicate how much power it needs and I assumed that the standard 10 amp fuse on the cigarette lighter should be enough. Replaced fuse and then it worked on the basketball, but then a few months later it was blowing fuses again. I went to a 15-amp fuse, which did not blow, but the compressor would chug a couple of times and then stopped. Apparently its life was over! Now it's just an ugly paperweight!

One of those "true necessities" for anyone with a vehicle with inflatable tires. If you've ever been "20 miles from nowhere" or FURTHER and have had a flat tire I hope you had one of these. It just takes a few minutes to pump up the tire, find the leak, plug it using one of those cheap little plug kits available at just about any large merchandise store, finish inflating your tire and drive away. You don't even have to take your tire off of your car. I have one for each of my vehicles.

This kit has everything you need to repair the associated Campbell Hausfeld compressor, including some handy instructions; however, I found the repair (belt replacement) impossible to accomplish.

The bolt that holds the pulley in place (which must be removed to replace the belt) was impossible to remove. I used the correct size torx bit and a lot of gentle persuasion (including a blowtorch to heat the bolt), but the head stripped out. If you're getting this for a belt replacement, I highly recommend that you try to remove the pulley bolt first. If you're able to do it, then order the kit. In my case, I wasted my money and will have to buy a new compressor because the bolt is either way overtightened by the factory or seized/rusted in place. Drilling it out won't work because the threaded end will still be stuck inside. It is NOT coming off. Be sure to find out if yours will before you order.

I deducted one star because the instructions could be clearer, but they are adequate and a nice inclusion.

Wagner Spray Tech 520000 Power Tex Texture Sprayer

Wagner Spray Tech 520000 Power Tex Texture Sprayer
  • Power texture sprayer for walls and ceilings
  • Applies popcorn, orange peel, and knockdown textures on walls and ceilings
  • Powerful air turbine and 1-gallon adjustable hopper for fast coverage of large surfaces
  • Includes 3 spray nozzles, 1-gallon adjustable hopper
  • Weighs less than 5.7 pounds

It should be noted that I consider myself handy and have done several home projects and have had good results without knowing what I was doing and that I am normally physically capable.

After reading the previous reviews I was encouraged to purchase the sprayer. I played with the mixture's consistency and practiced spraying most of the morning and then tackled a small closet that included the ceiling.

It was messier than I expected with not just pieces hitting the floor but gobs oozing out of the nozzle and onto the trigger. (The instructions mention that some water may leak out of this area.) If you are an Amazon lady or trained with the military and are used to holding an AK-47 or lift weights on a daily basis you should be fine pulling and holding the trigger and holding up the sprayer to get the coverage you want. (I had to use two hands at times to keep the trigger fully pulled.) I only finished because it became personal after the first hour. I was trying to get the pattern that would match my existing texture so maybe I was expecting a little too much. (Professional texture man is scheduled to arrive in a few days.) I will still use the machine to texture the walls in the garage but I was not able to get the design I wanted for the house. I am good about reading and following directions so I do not think I could improve upon the performance except with maybe more target practice. I did find that clean-up was not bad at all.

NOTE-----Updating you on my 2 star review. The professional painter/texture man showed up and guess what he was using? Yep, the same Wagner machine! He has had it a long time and swears by it. He complimented me on my closet and said that he had to go through the same trial and error but the main tip he gave was very thin mud. I watched and it was very runny. The instructions state "like pancake batter" but his was VERY THIN. Can't stress that enough. Still was messy on application but not like when I used it and it will not work you as hard since you will not have the mixture so thick. So, based on everything he said and the fact that he no longer uses the bigger machines and his Wagner had tape all over it from obvious hard use, I am upgrading it to 4 stars and withholding the one star for when I attempt the garage. Hope this helps!

My wife and I just purchased our first home and she really dislikes popcorn ceilings. So she insisted that we have it removed and put up a knockdown texture in it's place. Then after a few estimates, the cheapest we could get it done to our whole house was for a little under $3000 which was more that what we were willing to spend with all the other things that we needed to have done to the house. So I priced out all the materials needed and my estimate came in at about $900. Keep in mind that this price is also including the cost of the tools needed (ex. 1/2" drill, trowel, paint primer, sprayer, ect.) which I didn't own.

Anyway, after going to my local Home Depot, they wanted about $60 a day to rent a sprayer and since I wanted to take my time, this really wasn't an option. I know that Wagner states that this sprayer is really for touch up jobs and not exactly for doing a whole house but let me tell you, I did my whole house and it worked great. After practicing a bit in the rooms first, my results were identical to a professional job at 1/3 the price. I will tell you this, it is a lot of work and the hardest thing about it is removing the popcorn and preping the room. I know some people say to use a garden sprayer and then they sell this neat little scraper at Home Depot that you can attach a bag to so you don't make a mess but that scrapper is junk. If you want to move fast, tape up the walls and floor using plastic sheeting and use a garden hose with a 10 or 12 inch taping knife to remove the popcorn. You'll barely scratch the sheet rock underneath and you'll remove the popcorn in under 30 minutes per room. The whole process is truly a huge mess but the end result is a very nice looking textured wall. I decided to go with the medium nozzle (yellow) and I ended up with a very nice looking texture that isn't as bold and some of the houses I've seen.

So if you're in the same situation my wife and me were in and you're fairly competent with tools, you'll be able to do the same thing because I'm a complete novice when it comes to drywall textures and I ended up with a great looking house. I'll also be honest and tell you that the first room I did, didn't come out as nice as the last but not because I applied the texture incorrectly but because I knocked some of it down too soon. Make sure you wait at least 20 minutes before knocking it down and after you spray a wall, take a step back and if you see any bare placed, just go over it with a quick trigger pull and you'll be amazed at what you're left with.

I was a little sceptical about this product doing as it says, but after finishing my living room all doubts where erased. Now wait, it does have a learning curve, don't think taking it out of the box and start spraying away will yield great results. Not likely. If you pratice like others have said that helps greatly. I think the hardest part was getting the drywall mud to the right consistinsy. I did orange peel, believe when I say if you think it has enough water in it add a little more. When I took the mixing paddle out, the mud came right off, did not stick, runny, soupy like, allot thinner than pancake batter. Do a pratice spray on cardboard and check your results. Do a back and forth motion about 2 to three feet away and do not stay in one place to long. Go over again for heavier texture. Not too much on first passes though or it will not look too good. Let it dry then go over it again. Few other things is I did a large room 15 by 20 by 16 ft high. It makes it harder, but not impossible. If you do a large area everytime you refill take off the nozzle clean it and the opening on the gun. If not it will clog up and flow will stop or the mud in the hopper will bubble and blow up out of the hopper, not that dramatic but you will hear it bubbling and rumbling you will know, then you have to clean it. Only takes min or two. Cover your mixed mud while spraying or it will harden. Also I noticed it did firm up a bit in the bucket even though it was covered, so adding a little water would not hurt each time. Just depends on your mud. IT IS ALSO VERY VERY MESSY....Cover EVERYTHING, windows, floors, vents, dogs, cats...Really you will regret it if you don't. It not for pin point accuracy, comes out fowards but in a wide arc, shallow arc, whatever it feels like. You do have some control, dont get me wrong, but there is some leakage, and if you dont cover the floors they will be textured as well. Its fun, also the unit loaded with mud is heavy, and large projects can get tiring. Oh also I placed it on the ground to load it, hopper in the position to do walls, easy. Also something to keep in mind, I primed my walls and ceiling it made it difficult to see results and where I sprayed, I had to bring in utility lights, still was hard, I suggest using a tinted primer close to what you will eventualy paint the walls, if white oh well, but I know if you can, it will be easier to see what you doing and get faster results, thats the only headache I had white mud white walls blends in...ahhh.. Not Wagners fault though. I highly recommend it, just be prepared and be patient and I believe you will have fun too and yield great results...Everything is easy to clean too..Have Fun..

Im a professional drywall finisher of over 10 years, and think this thing is great. No more hauling in a heavy texture rig and dirty hose for patch jobs. For the do-it-yourselfer $100 it isn't much more than a regular hopper and gun that requires a compressor. Great price for a sweet sprayer.

Accutire MS-4021B Digital Tire Gauge

Accutire MS-4021B Digital Tire Gauge
  • Heavy duty construction and rugged design for long lasting use
  • Angled head and rubber coated handle for easy gripping
  • Large, easy-to-read LCD display
  • Equipped with an automatic shut off to prevent deflation
  • Accurate to within 0.05 PSI, reading air pressure from 5-150 PSI in 0.5 pound increments

Please ignore the other two users that gave this gauge only one star because it only read 28.5 psi. I find it amusing, but sad, that they didn't realize that there was a protective sticker on the screen that read 28.5. If you peel off that protective sticker, then you get a nice, bright red backlit number displaying your true tire pressure. This gauge works great! The display is amazingly easy to read, and it is also simple to get a good reading.

Prior to owning this Accutire model, I had a 7 year old Accutire digital gauge that finally broke. WIth that old model, it was much harder to get a reading without air leaking out. With this new model, if you just push the gauge straight into the valve stem, you easily get a solid reading without leaking air. The old model's display wasn't backlit either, and I was truly impressed with the large, bright numbers on this new model. I'd highly recommend getting this gauge, as it has all the functionality you need, at a very reasonable price. I like having accuracy to 0.5 psi, and I never use non-digital gauges unless I have no other choice. I also tested this gauge with back-to-back measurements, and it was accurate every time. You won't regret this purchase...

This is by far the best tire gauge I've ever had. It lights brightly, easy to see even in sun and always visible at night. Accuracy is high, construction quality is excellent. Highly recommended!

While this product works fine, and is accurate, it uses (3) A76 watch batteries. That's a lot of batteries. and the batteries generally only last about 6 months. I have to pay $2 ea for the batteries. Total $6 each time. That's $12 a year. and the unit only cost $8.

Maybe a unit that uses lithium or other long-lasting batteries would be better.

Next time, i think i will try one of the better, more-expensive units.

I found the tire gauge readings to be accurate, and initially this meter was easy to use and quick to take a measurement.

However, within 5 months, the plastic part of the gauge that you put onto your tire had deformed to the point that it would no longer take a reading from a tire. I do not work at a mechanical shop, and I have one car and I had taken a reading about once a week for 4-5 months.

I would not recommend this product.

I've owned two versions of this gauge: An LCD version that I bought 7 or 8 years ago, and the more recent LED type. Aside from the display technology, they looked identical.

They were both accurate and reliable, but they both also had very poor sealing against the tire valve. The rubber ring that seals against the valve is too hard and uneven. You have to line the gauge up very precisely, and press very hard to avoid a burst of air escaping from the tire. If you don't get a good seal, the reading can be off, and a couple of bursts of air is enough to drop a tire by 1 psi. Every time I checked my tires, this happened on at least one or two of them. It's bad enough that I got into the habit of overfilling the tires by a couple of psi so that when this happened I would not end up below the desired pressure.

I finally got tired of it and bought a $26.00 gauge at Sears that seems to be just as accurate and does not have this problem.

All Power America APG3301C 1,200 Watt 4-Stroke Gas Powered Portable Generator (CARB Compliant)

All Power America APG3301C 1,200 Watt 4-Stroke Gas Powered Portable GeneratorThis generator is a great value for the price. I had a little difficulty getting it started when it first arrived, but as soon as I noticed the rubber fuel line was crimped, and trimmed the line a little, it started right up. I use this generator regularly to power a pitching machine, shop vac, etc. It is reliable and has a very good run time before needing refuel. Other generators might be a little lighter and maybe quieter, but this is an outstanding value.

I've only used it once so far, but it ran like a champ, and it's not too noisy. And, it's CARB compliant, which I had to have living in California. That tends to run up the price of a generator.

I had a little trouble getting it to run steadily until I figured out the choke. It is a heavy little monster55 lbs in a very small packagenot heavy enough to require wheels, so you have to lift it by the handle.

I was worried about using it to power my electronics (DSL modem, router, computer), but I emailed the company for advice and received a response in about 24 hours. Good support. They recommended using a line conditioner for sensitive electronics. As it turns out, the voltage coming out of mine is a bit high. If you want to power electronics, be sure to buy a line conditioner or voltage stabilizer along with it. I got a voltage stabilizer here on Amazon for $24.

Do be aware of the fact that 1200 watts is not a lot of power. You won't run a hot plate or a hair dryer with this generator. But computers, TVs, and low wattage fluorescent lights are no problem. I can power everything that is important to me in my study for about 350 watts. But check your wattage requirements before you buy.

I bought this with great expectations and was very disappointed. The package showed up at my door dented and then when I opened up the package there were pieces of plastic all over and bits and pieces were broken. It started up easily the first time after some tinkering and then it just turned over the next few times I tried starting, without ever getting going again.

Got it all sett up. Put oil in it. Poured in the gasoline. Pulled the starter cord and after about the second pull it fired right up. i was excited. I then moved it to the other side of my car and it died. So I tried to fire it back up again, playing with the choke a little, but it still would not go. Then I noticed the carberator was just pouring gas out. I dont know why but as long as the gas was in the on position gas was constantly dripping out of the carb. its now sitting in my garage as a heavy paper weight. Maybe I'll try to fiddle with it....

Please note that this generator has a fuel capacity of 1.19 Gallons, not 0.5 Gallons as stated above. Eight hours of run time for 0.5 gallons is way too efficient to be believed. All Power America APG3301C 1,200 Watt 4-Stroke Gas Powered Portable Generator (CARB Compliant)
